#ParallelHorizons: a shift in rhythm… 🏝️🌊 Aboard their FP51, the day starts early. Before 7AM, the deck turns into an open-air workout space. Complete isolation. Just the two of them, the boat, and the rising light. Then everything unfolds. An impromptu stop at Waterlemon Cay to explore the reefs. A jump into the water. And a few hours later, a completely different atmosphere in Coral Bay. In this episode, there’s no fixed schedule. There’s an energy to follow.
Episode 4 of At The Forefront explores the nature of hospitality and how the crew set the tone for a Charter experience. From the moment you speak with Debra, her Southern accent reveals her Alabama roots—but beneath that polished exterior is a true Steel Magnolia with decades of yachting experience. She began her career in 1987 as Special Events Coordinator for Broward Marine, where she managed major international yacht shows and created the iconic annual Broward Rendezvous, which became one of the industry’s most celebrated events. Debra later transitioned into charter brokerage and yacht management, joining Fraser in 1997 and bringing several prominent charter yachts with her. Known for her hands-on approach, she personally inspects every yacht she represents and travels year-round to visit vessels, meet crew, and attend international charter shows across Europe and the Caribbean. Guided by genuine Southern hospitality, Debra builds lasting relationships with clients and crew alike and is a respected member of MYBA, FYBA, and AYCA. ► The Bulgarian brand Omaya Yachts, launched its first model, the Omaya 50, last summer. This powercat, like most of its competitors, is one of these newcomers to the market, selling not only living space - in this case 1,615 square feet (150 square meters) - but also luxury, as we were able to see during our visit at the latest Cannes Yachting Festival. ► The overall design is not to be outdone, featuring rather clean lines. The large saloon can accommodate 10 people at table - in either dining or coffee configuration. The hulls can house a huge Owner’s suite to port and two guest cabins to starboard, or four cabins. The forepeaks can be customized according to the captain’s wishes. On deck, there are two cockpits connected via side-decks or through the nacelle’s forward door. A large aft platform completes the sugarscoops. The flybridge is accessible via two staircases. ► The builder has two other units on order and has just announced an upcoming 53-footer. ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Omaya Yachts Architect: i-Yacht Length overall: 49’2” (14.98 m) Waterline length: 46’10” (14.27 m) Beam: 27’6” (8.39 m) Air draft: 22’9” (6.94 m) Draft: 3’5” (1.05 m) Displacement: 45,200 lbs (20.5 t) Motors: 2 x 320 HP or 2 x 440 HP Fuel: 528 US gallons (2,000 l) Number of cabins: 3 or 4 CE Category: A12 Price: € 2,350,000 ex-tax ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! Baja California Sur is a magical place, where the ocean is still wild and full of life. This expedition has been created to take you further offshore for the chance of encountering some of the ocean's most spectacular creatures. We will be based in La Ventana, a small town on the Gulf of California, facing the majestic Isla Cerralvo. We will be focusing on searching for the epic Mobula Munkiana aggregations. These amazing animals come together for mating and feeding before migrating out of the Sea of Cortez into the Pacific Ocean. The abundance of food in this area is one of the primary reasons for the abundance of life, and as usual, where there is food, there are predators. We will often travel up to 40 miles offshore or up and down the coast to hopefully encounter incredible animals.

In Jan 2027 We will to cast off for our next big adventure — a passage from the sparkling waters of the Caribbean Sea to the vibrant shores of Brazil. This passage is not the easy trade wind passage south. We will be setting out from the Caribbean Sea toward Brazil on a demanding and relatively uncommon track — pushing against the equatorial current and sailing much of the way on a close reach. It’s a technical challenge requiring careful weather routing, constant sail trim, and patience with the conditions. The traditional and far more favorable approach to Brazil typically begins from the Canary Islands or Cape Verde, where the winds and currents carry you across the Atlantic to South Americal. But our journey took a different path. As we want to explore Cuba, Panama, and Colombia, we’ve deliberately put ourselves in a tougher position — choosing experience and discovery over convenience. For this passage the focus is on strategy, endurance, and seamanship as we work our way through the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. A challenging route, an uncommon passage, and a true test of boat and crew. We’ll share the miles as they unfold. ❤️ Help us share our passion for the Ocean 🌊 ⛵️ "Enjoying our content?👉 Please hit that Subscribe button! 👈 It’s totally free for you and makes a big difference in helping us grow and reach more people through the YouTube algorithm. In this episode, I tackle the job of replacing some of the original stumps supporting our beautiful old timber house. She has been slowly slumping for a while now, needing a bit of TLC. Restumping an old house is never just about swapping out timber. It is about working carefully, thinking ahead, and respecting a structure that has been standing for nearly ninety years. There were challenges, adjustments, and a few moments that required a different way of thinking to keep things moving in the right direction. If you are interested in restoring old homes, timber house foundations, or the realities of maintaining a 1930s weatherboard house, this one is for you. Do have a look at 'The Book' (The Ultimate Guide to Rebuilding Civilization) It's a really special encyclopaedia for all ages, available in several languages and beautifully illustrated, use the link below and enter FAIRISLE for 10% off https://mdsh.io/sailingfairisle The storms across Portugal subsided to leave beautiful spring like weather, but some very strange seas.We are sailing towards 'Orca Alley', the strait of Gibraltar and are not hugging the coast for two reasons. One, we don't feel particularly vulnerable to damage by orcas and two it would have been very dangerous to go sail close to shore with the large Atlantic swell we had rolling in. So although the sailing was a little bit testing at times we really enjoyed the trip, it was great to be back in the ocean and we had some lovely places to visit. The lagoon at Faro has always been a favourite and sailing through the strait is something every sailor has to do at least once. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PLEASE DO SUBSCRIBE - IT COSTS YOU NOTHING AND HELPS US OUT WITH THE YOUTUBE ALGORITHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PATREON: We couldn't make these videos without the support of you, our patrons. Swimming with Dolphins in Crocodile Territory 🐬🐊 | Marovo Lagoon There is a place in the Solomon Islands where the reef drops into a thousand meters of blue, and the water is shared by the ocean’s most playful creatures—and its most feared predators. In this episode, we arrive in Marovo Lagoon, officially the world’s largest saltwater lagoon and a place of staggering biodiversity. We began our journey in the open ocean, jumping off the boat into "the big blue" to swim alongside a pod of dolphins, watching them play beneath our bow. But as we moved deeper into the lagoon toward Pore Pore, the atmosphere changed. The locals here live in a delicate balance with Saltwater Crocodiles. We received some sobering advice: "They are everywhere, but you can still swim... just keep an eye out." From seeing their eyes glowing in the dark to feeling that unmistakable "crocky" instinct while freediving a deep reef wall, this episode is a reminder that in the Solomons, you are always part of the food chain. In this episode of Pirate Rodney’s Cuisines, I show how to fillet small fish step-by-step using croaker that we just scaled in the previous video. Many people struggle with small fish because the bones are tight and it’s easy to waste good meat. Up to this point, we’ve focused on planning and interpretation. But once you’re actually offshore, your job as Captain changes. It moves from "making a plan" to monitoring the outside world and catching problems before they start. In this fourth video of our 5-part series, we’re looking at the tools that give you a bird's-eye view of your surroundings—even when you’re hundreds of miles from the nearest coast. We dive deep into Satellite AIS (Over the Horizon AIS), explaining how individual sailors now have access to global shipping data that used to be locked behind corporate paywalls. This isn't just about collision avoidance; it’s about strategic awareness and replacing surprise with a plan. 📘 GET THE BOOK & SAVE $100 This entire masterclass is a companion to my book "Be The Captain." This session covers: Awareness vs. Automation: Why tools like AIS don’t make you safe, but they do buy you the most precious resource offshore: Time. Satellite AIS (Over the Horizon): How PredictWind uses low-earth orbit satellites to show you ship traffic 300+ miles away, long before your onboard VHF antenna can see them. Strategic Planning: Using AIS to anticipate major shipping lanes days in advance so you can adjust your crossing for daylight. Bandwidth Management: How the offshore app filters global data into a "slice" that won't overwhelm your satellite connection. Proactive Alerts: Setting thresholds for wind, waves, and extreme weather before you’re too tired to think clearly. Think your engine solves bad weather? Think again. In this third video of our 5-part intensive, we are breaking down the physics of offshore motion. Whether you are on a sailboat or a dedicated powerboat, understanding how energy is transferred from the ocean to your hull is the difference between a controlled passage and an exhausting disaster. We move past simple wave height and dive into the "invisible" factors—like wave period and vertical acceleration—that shock load your equipment and wear out your crew long before the wind picks up. 📘 GET THE BOOK & SAVE $100 This masterclass is based on the principles in my book "Be The Captain." Every reader gets a 20% discount on PredictWind Standard or Pro subscriptions (saving you up to $100). 👉 Get the book and your discount here: https://bethecaptain.com/ ⚓️ WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN VIDEO #3: We are shifting focus from "finding a line" to understanding the physics of your boat's motion. This session covers: * The Energy Trap: Why short-period waves are more dangerous than large, long-period swells. * Engine vs. Sail Physics: Why engines can be more punishing in bad seas because they don't naturally "shed" load like a reefed sail. * Vertical Acceleration: The "pro metric" for predicting fatigue, seasickness, and gear failure. * Directional Impact: How head seas, beam seas, and quartering seas affect your fuel burn and structural loading. * Setting Realistic Assumptions: Why your "flat water" speed is the wrong number to use for routing. * Continuous Decision Making: My routine for rerunning routes every 12 hours as conditions evolve. ⚖️ TECHNICAL DISCLOSURE & TRANSPARENCY This series is supported by PredictWind, who provided the hardware and professional editing for these videos. The map is not the territory—and a "pretty wind map" is not a passage plan. In this second installment of our 5-part intensive series, we’re diving into the engine room of weather forecasting. After 85,000 miles at sea, I’ve seen how easy it is to trust a colorful screen and sail straight into a disaster. This video is about moving from "looking" at the weather to interpreting it like a professional. We break down where the data actually comes from, why different weather models often disagree, and how to use "Validation" to decide which forecast is worth betting your life on. 📘 GET THE BOOK & SAVE $100 My book "Be The Captain" is the foundation of this entire series. It pays for itself because every reader gets 20% OFF a PredictWind Standard or Pro subscription (up to a $100 savings). 👉 Grab your copy and the discount here: https://bethecaptain.com/ ⚓️ WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN VIDEO #2: We are taking the setup from Video #1 and putting it to work. In this session, we cover: The Anatomy of a Forecast: From weather buoys and satellites to GRIB (Gridded Binary) files. The Models Explained: Understanding the "personalities" of ECMWF, GFS, UKMO, ICON, and the AI-driven AIFS. PredictWind Proprietary Models: Why PWG, PWE, and PWAI provide the high-resolution edge you need. The Validation Tool: How to check which model has been the most accurate in your specific area over the last 24 hours. GMDSS Integration: Why you must never ignore official international maritime safety warnings, even if the routing looks clear. The "USS San Francisco" Rule: Why zooming in and setting exclusion zones (Boundaries) is the difference between a successful passage and hitting an underwater mountain. ⚖️ TECHNICAL DISCLOSURE & TRANSPARENCY To make this series possible, PredictWind provided the iPad and the professional editing used in these videos, along with my Pro account. In this episode of Pirate Rodney’s Cuisines, I show how to fillet small fish step-by-step using croaker that we just scaled in the previous video. Many people struggle with small fish because the bones are tight and it’s easy to waste good meat. In this quick tutorial, I demonstrate the simple knife cuts that make filleting small fish easier and cleaner. View the details & cost of the products I use with my affiliate links below: KNIVES: https://amzn.to/4c00kdR AIR FRYER: https://amzn.to/4kV43f5 In this video you’ll learn: • How to cut around the small bones • Where to run the blade along the rib cage • How to remove the fillet without wasting meat • Tips for handling smaller fish like croaker, trout, and panfish This fillet will be used in the next step of our recipe where we turn the fish into delicious fish rolls. The Mirage Martini - I share the recipe of my invention. Anchored in paradise and martini at sunset.
In this video, I’m finally sharing something I’ve been working on for a while now — the official “Mirage Martini” recipe — prepared at sunset, at anchor, aboard Mirage. Smooth, refreshing, and with just a touch of mystery — just like the ocean itself. Give it a try and let me know in the comments :) After a long day chasing the horizon, there’s nothing better than dropping anchor in a quiet, beautiful bay… watching the sun melt into the sea… and mixing the perfect drink. If you’ve been following Sailing Mirage, you know this cocktail has been a long time coming. Tonight, we make it properly. Oh, and I hope you'll enjoy the song and the lyrics I've made for that special little video!! :) 🍸 Mirage Martini 📌 Ingredients: 2.5 oz (75 ml) London Dry Gin 0.5 oz (15 ml) Dry Vermouth 0.25 oz (7 ml) Blue Curaçao 1 dash Orange Bitters (10 drops) Lemon twist (for garnish) Ice 📌 Instructions: Pour the gin, dry vermouth, Blue Curaçao, and orange bitters into a cocktail shaker. Add 4–5 cubes of ice. Shake well - about 10 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist (express the oils over the drink) or an olive. Give it a try, for that perfect “Mirage” effect - smooth, refreshing, and with a touch of mystery, just like the sea. 🌊🍸
14 - Inside the Market - Yacht Sales Insights & Trends for February 2026 - Berthon International ...
Spring is approaching in the Northern Hemisphere, and with it the start of another yachting season. In this episode of Inside the Market, we take a closer look at the yacht brokerage landscape as it stood at the end of February 2026. Joining the conversation is Sophie Kemp, who has recently returned to Berthon after maternity leave and celebrates ten years with the company. Sophie specialises in sailing yacht brokerage and has also been closely involved in launching Berthon Essential, a dedicated platform for yachts under £110,000 designed to give smaller boats their own space in the market. https://boatsforsale.berthoninternational.com/ Together we discuss what we are seeing across Berthon’s five international brokerage offices and what buyers and sellers should understand as the new season begins. Conditions vary widely across the globe. In Newport, Rhode Island, over two feet of snow has made showing yachts a challenge, while changes to tariff structures are forcing some buyers to reconsider the costs of importing yachts into the United States and the wider implications for their businesses. Despite this uncertainty, the brokerage market continues to move. While enquiry levels remain modest overall, Berthon’s long-standing client base continues to provide stability, with more than half of transactions coming from repeat clients returning to buy or sell their next yacht. Pricing remains a sensitive issue across the market. There is pressure on values in many segments, particularly where there is a larger supply of comparable yachts available. However, well-presented yachts with strong pedigree, proper service histories, and good overall condition continue to attract buyers without difficulty. Another notable trend is buyer behaviour. A significant number of active leads are currently researching and monitoring the market rather than rushing to commit. With a good selection of yachts available in certain segments, many buyers feel comfortable taking time to evaluate their options before making a decision. The new yacht market continues to face challenges, although activity remains healthy in parts of the production segment. Major industry developments are also unfolding, including the widely reported bid by Donerail for MarineMax, a move that could have significant implications across the brokerage, marina, and service sectors. As ever, the fundamentals remain the same. Pricing correctly, presenting yachts well, and maintaining strong service histories continue to be the factors that determine which yachts sell and which remain on the market. Key Points • Newport office facing difficult showing conditions due to heavy snowfall, while tariff changes are creating uncertainty for some US buyers. • Enquiry rates remain modest, but repeat clients continue to drive activity across the brokerage. • Prices are under pressure across much of the market, although well-presented yachts still sell without difficulty. • In segments with greater supply, buyers are taking time to research and secure the right deal. • A larger number of active leads are monitoring the market rather than committing immediately. • The new yacht market remains challenging, although activity continues in parts of the production sector. • The proposed Donerail bid for MarineMax is a major development that could influence the wider yachting market. It has been a hot minute since we last posted a video, we have missed you all! We've been busy making that money to keep funding the refit, and it has been an absolute wild ride into 2026! In this episode we step back into time...August of 2025 to be exact! We have just completed the ENTIRE CHAINPLATE INSTALL & are now beginning to put our interior back together! This of course means, trimming our teak to fit the new size (ever so slight) larger chainplates...and all that goes with it. All the teak that had spent years getting damp from leaks had to be stripped and refinished. Please enjoy this episode, as it is going to be ONLY part 1 of likely several videos--Reconstruction of our salon interior. Travis has had a large hand in the making of this video, he has done all of the 360 footage stitching! It is pretty cool, I must say...very nifty camera we will be using more in future videos! If you enjoyed this video, or would like to see anything in detail of the work we do, just let us know!
