Check out the starlink mount we are using, Darkstar Marine: https://darkstarhardware.com Join us as we continue sailing through Belize. We are heading to Lighthouse Reef, one of the outer reefs in Belize. We have heard this is some of the best reef in the country. But first we have to make a long exhausting trek upwind in our electric sailboat to arrive in the dark. One thing sailors HATE to do is to sail into an anchorage at night. The stations are coming together! In this episode of our wooden boat building journey, we tackle three critical milestones — the transom (loaded with cutouts for the chine and stringers), Station 12 built with gorgeous Brazilian Cumaru hardwood, and the motor Station 13 reinforced with extra filler wood and double gussets for maximum strength. Every cut, every joint, every decision matters when you're building a wood boat from scratch — and this stage is where the backbone of the hull truly takes shape. Whether you're dreaming of building your own small boat or just love watching skilled craftsmanship, this one's for you. 🔨 In this video: • Transom station with chine & stringer cutouts • Station 12 — Brazilian Cumaru hardwood selection & fitting • Station 13 (motor station) — extra filler wood & double gussets explained • Tips on why reinforcing the motor station matters If you're following along with how to build a wooden boat, drop your questions below — happy to share what's working and what we'd do differently! 👍 Like, subscribe, and hit the bell to follow the full build from keel to launch. #WoodenBoatBuilding #BoatBuilding #DIYBoat #WoodBoat #BoatBuild #Transom #Cumaru #Woodworking #BoatConstruction #smallboat 00:00 Presentation 00:41 Start making station 12 00:57 Ready cut and starting glueing together 01:14 Screwed some beams to get it straight 01:29 Marked the shape of the bulkhead 02:00 Cumaro hardwood for the bulkhead 02:30 The Cumaro is planned 02:58 Starting to glue the Cumaro on the thin plywood 03:23 The bulkhead with Cumaro hardwood is ready for Epoxy 04:01 Working the th station 12 frames and first layer of epoxy on the bulkhead 04:17 The station 12 is ready! What if the only thing standing between you and a hidden cove was a bag that fits in the trunk of your car? While traditional boating often feels like a logistical headache, these inflatable models prove that getting on the water can be both affordable and remarkably simple. These vessels pack small, inflate in minutes, and allow you to explore quiet inlets or local lakes with a level of freedom that bulky trailers simply cannot provide. In this episode, we highlight the top three budget-friendly inflatables chosen for their rugged builds and reliable performance. Stick around until the end, because our top pick features a clever design that might just redefine your entire approach to a weekend on the water. ⛵️ LIKE, COMMENT, and SHARE this video if you enjoyed it! ⛵️ SUBSCRIBE and click the BELL for new episodes! After multiple failed attempts last season, we finally get our weather window and set sail for Lady Elliot Island – a destination that’s been just out of reach for far too long. Departing from Rooney Point, we take on the 51-nautical-mile passage with high hopes… but the wind doesn’t exactly cooperate. What should’ve been a clean sail turns into a bit of a test of patience as we motor-sail our way north. But getting there was only part of it. Once we arrived, we made a call that went against what the sailing apps were telling us – choosing to moor on the northern buoy based on local advice from a dive skipper. Time will tell if that was the right move… With ARGO secured (for now), we celebrate finally making it here the only way that made sense – an 80s disco party onboard. But beneath the surface, there’s more waiting. We’ve heard this place is teeming with life – turtles, manta rays, and more – and tomorrow, we’re getting in the water to see it for ourselves. This is Part 1 of our Lady Elliot Island adventure – the journey, the decision, and the anticipation. In Part 2, we dive in – swimming with turtles, gliding alongside manta rays, and finally experiencing what makes Lady Elliot Island so special. Stick around for that episode. Thanks for watching. Toni’s surgery in Baltimore meant it was time to start making our way north. With no good weather window to run Moments in Time all the way to the Chesapeake in the time we had, we turned our bows toward Charleston, South Carolina—just 160 miles up the Atlantic Coast. We’d spent the winter in Fernandina Beach, an unexpected detour from our original plan, but one that wrapped itself around us. Leaving is bittersweet. We’ve grown to love this town—its restaurants, pubs, parks, beaches, and most of all, its people. We’ll miss the friends we’ve made here. But health comes first. We’ll tackle these challenges head‑on and return ready to continue our adventure south next season. And as we raised our sails, it felt good—right, even—to be underway again. ⛵️ From Beginners to Bluewater… Our First Year Living on a Sailboat One year ago today… we bought Stella. And honestly? We had almost no idea what we were doing. Camille had never properly sailed before. We moved aboard full-time in Langkawi, Malaysia… and learned everything the hard way. Over the last 365 days we’ve dealt with: ⚓️ dragging anchor in storms 🌊 squalls at sea 🔧 engine failures 🪢 fishing nets around the propeller 🚽 exploding toilets ⛵️ climbing the mast offshore 🛂 crossing borders into new countries 🐈 and even adopting a little sea kitten along the way But somewhere between all the chaos, breakdowns, sunsets, and surf missions… this lifestyle completely changed our lives. From Malaysia → Thailand → back through Langkawi for a full haul out → and now Indonesia… this is the story of our first year living aboard Stella. And honestly… it feels like this is only the beginning. ❤️ Thank you for following along and supporting this crazy dream. ⸻ 🌊 FOLLOW OUR JOURNEY: Instagram: @stella.overboard TikTok: @stella.overboard Facebook: Stella Overboard ⸻ ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS 00:00 Cheers to One Year on Stella 01:12 Buying a Sailboat With No Experience 02:45 Our Toilet Exploded on Our First Sail 04:10 Gearbox Failure & Learning the Hard Way 06:02 Dragging Anchor in Storms 07:20 Fishing Net Around the Propeller 09:05 Climbing the Mast Offshore 10:42 Learning Confidence at Sea 12:30 From Van Life to Boat Life 14:12 Building Stella Into an Off-Grid Home 16:10 Arriving in Remote Indonesia 18:40 Learning to Trust Stella 20:15 The Biggest Lessons We’ve Learned 23:18 Handling Emergencies as a Team 26:30 Sailing Into Anchorages Without an Engine 29:05 Why Sailing Changed Our Lives Forever 31:40 One Year Later… ⸻ #sailing #liveaboard #boatlife #sailinglife #sailboatlife #bluewatersailing #offgridliving #travelcouple #surfing #indonesia #adventure #oceanlife 💙 A huge thank you to everyone supporting us on Patreon — you truly help make this sailboat life possible. After waiting over 3 years for our dream expedition catamaran… everything has come to a halt with our Portofino 52 Aluminium performance shallow draft catamaran trapped in Dubai because of the war! We’ve already lost two sailing seasons… and now we’re being told it could be another 6+ months before we can sail the boat! So we hmake the exciting a SCARY decision to BUY ANOTHER BOAT! The risks we face: 👉 The yacht market continues to crash 👉 We may not be able to see the boat in the future 👉 The share market may crash and leave no-one buying boats This isn’t just emotional—it’s a life-changing financial and lifestyle decision. So having made the decision to buy another boat, we now set about seeing what is available and if we can get good deals (because teh boat market is so low...) Come along with us as we travel to New Zealand and the remote Tuamotos to search out a great boat to fulfil Eli's sailing dream of spending time in French Polynesia!!! 👇 Comment below with your advice on which boat you thin is best for us!👇 —
We leave the paradise of Maratua and sail south through the Makassar Strait, encountering fierce currents and some surprisingly large rogue waves along the way. Mid-passage, Chris tackles a leak in the watermaker to keep everything running smoothly onboard. Our first stop is the tiny town of Sendana, where the locals warmly welcome us and get us involved in a fun local challenge. Continuing further south to Pamangangang, we capture some stunning drone footage of the islands and crystal-clear waters before finally arriving in the bustling city of Makassar. Once ashore, we hire a couple of tuk tuks to show us around the city, stock up on diesel fuel, fresh fruit and vegetables, and visit one of the most incredible mosques we have ever seen. From remote island life to the energy of a major Indonesian city, this leg of the journey had it all. WHO ARE WE? Hey there! We’re Chris and Jo, an ordinary Aussie couple living our extraordinary dream aboard our Seawind 1260 since January 2019 and now we continue from 2024 aboard our new 1370! Our adventure began with an unforgettable journey down the east coast of Australia, followed by a sail to the stunning New Caledonia. In 2020, we continued our exploration further north, and by 2021 and 2022, we circumnavigated Australia, discovering breathtaking locations along the way. Having previously owned fishing and water-skiing boats, our passion for sailing deepened after crewing in South Australia, leading us to make the leap into full-time living at sea. We hope to inspire you, just as we were inspired by other YouTube channels, to chase your dreams and explore the wonders of this beautiful world. My brother Toby and his wife Tara live on a 10m Kerr Catamaran. It's been out of the water for a few months getting some upgrades and general maintenance done but now it's time to splash her again. Tobyy is very much into saving money where he can so he figured the best way to get the boat back in the water was to do it all DIY style. Using our older brothers trucks and sons and a rented crane he made a pretty big project seem easy. About three hours was all that was needed to get the boat from where it had sat on blocks, 20km through suburban streets, back into the water, mast, boom and rigging back on and back out on its anchor. Job well done bro! Enjoy We are a Kiwi & French couple with a baby boy living on a sailboat currently in Indonesia, making videos in the hope of making your day a little better. Following up on last week’s fluke season opener, I decided to head back out on the water—this time jumping aboard the Paramount out of Brielle, NJ. Whether you are a seasoned angler or someone looking to book their first offshore trip, this video gives you an inside look at the full experience. From the early morning views of the Manasquan River to the hardworking crew in action, I’m taking you along to show you exactly what to expect when you step onto a Jersey Shore party boat. It was a busy day on the deck! I managed to bring in three ling, a few sea bass, and even had some excitement with two sharks. While I was flying solo this trip and couldn't catch every hook-set on camera, I made sure to capture the "behind the scenes" of the trip, including the incredible boat scenery and the professional crew and fish-cleaning services provided by the mate, Quint. If you’re looking for a great day on the Atlantic, hit that play button and see why the 'Paramount' is a staple of the Brielle fishing scene! Is This the Smartest 36-Foot Cruiser? I walked the American Tug 362 at the Seattle Boat Show with Kurt Dilworth — co-founder and Vice President of American Tug — and he answered every question buyers actually ask. Not a dealer. Not a broker. The man who built this company. This is the honest conversation the brochure won't give you.The 362 shares its hull with the legendary AT 365 — but adds a second stateroom, a design tradeoff with real implications for the buyer. Kurt walks us through every compartment: the galley, the pilothouse, the engine room access that owners consistently rave about, and his straight answer to the two-stateroom question.Built by hand in La Conner, Washington — 8 to 10 boats per year — the American Tug 362 is one of the most deliberately engineered coastal cruisers on the American market today. 36'6" LOA. Single Volvo Penta D4-320. 16.5 knots top speed. 10-plus knot cruise. 900-nautical-mile range. And 14'4" bridge clearance that makes it Great Loop legal. If you're cross-shopping the AT 362 against the AT 365 — or weighing American Tug against Nordic Tug — this is the conversation you need to hear directly from the source. The usual late fall offshore passage scenario. You depart the US east coast on the tail of a cold front, which supplies you with favorable northerly winds. But there's always another front moving through in a few days' time. The typical strategy is to sail south as fast as you can, by which you hope to avoid the worst of it. That's the hope. It's a race against the weather clock. Since you’re leaning into the "Sailing Truth Show" angle, the description needs to feel less like a "vlog" and more like a masterclass. You want to hook the casual viewer who is afraid of getting sick, while establishing yourself as the authority who has written the book on the subject. Here is a high-conversion description for the livestream: Ever Been Seasick? Here's how to fight it... | Sailing Truth Show Most people think seasickness is a stomach problem. It’s not. It’s a full-scale biological conflict between your brain and your environment. In today’s episode of the Sailing Truth Show, we’re stripping away the "sundowners and bikinis" version of sailing to talk about the gritty reality of what the sea does to the human body. Whether you’re a veteran skipper or a dreamer planning your first passage, understanding the physiological "Danger Zone" of the first 72 hours is the difference between a successful voyage and a total crew breakdown. In this stream, we’re covering: Sensory Conflict Theory: The real reason your brain thinks you've been poisoned. The Zombie Phase: Why Day 2 is the most dangerous time for decision-making (and how to survive it). The Emergency Reset: A step-by-step walkthrough of the "Physiological Sigh"—the fastest way to kill panic and regain focus offshore. Fueling the Beast: Why I rely on Radix Nutrition to keep my cognitive levels high when the world is upside down. The "Sea Legs" Miracle: What actually happens to your brain on Day 3. Get the Field Manual: Everything discussed today—including the seasickness med charts and the S.A.F.E. checklist—is pulled directly from my book, Be The Captain. 👉 Grab your copy here: https://bethecaptain.com/ Special Thanks: Shoutout to Radix Nutrition for fueling the boat. When you're in the "Zombie Phase," nutrient density is your best friend. This Lagoon 42 served as the Catamaran Gurus sailing school vessel for several years before going through a comprehensive 2025 refit. In this walkthrough, Steele Greyling covers the full 4-cabin layout, the deck upgrades, the helm and electronics, and the interior changes that bring the boat up to current cruising standards. The Lagoon 42 is offered in two main layouts: the 4-cabin charter version (shown here) and the 3-cabin owner's version. The 4-cabin offers two heads per side (one wet, one dry per hull), making it well-suited for families, charter use, or owners who want extra storage and guest capacity. The 3-cabin version trades one cabin for a larger owner's suite. This walkthrough focuses on the 4-cabin layout. Interested in learning? In this Cape Dory Refit Part 7, we modify the galley to better suit a minimalist, off-grid setup. In a previous video we covered the conversion from bulky propane stove and oven to Origo alcohol stove. Now we’re removing the original built-in ice box and drawers to create a custom locker to house a removable portable fridge/freezer and a dedicated 12V battery supply, providing better efficiency and more versatile storage. A portable fridge/freezer keeps it compact, affordable, and easily replaceable rather than trying to maintain a built-in unit. After years of planning we are well into building the ultimate solar panel installation for an electric yacht conversion with a narrow stern and a mizzen to make it more difficult. We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. We have a frequently updated blog at https://sustainablesailing.net with membership options and a weekly newsletter at £2 per month for Early Bird Supporters. Our free Sustainable Sailing book is at: https://sustainablesailing.codeberg.page/ Or visit our shop at https://sustainablesailing.teemill.com/ for great hoodies, t-shirts and bags. When we bought Vida in August 2019 she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all-electric (motor, cooking etc).
