Fast ein Jahr später ist endlich wieder ein Film von Simon da. In dieser Folge sind wir zwischen Atlantiksturm, magischen Orten, rauen Küsten und dem Gefühl, unterwegs zu sein. Ribadesella, dieser verwunschene Ort voller alter Sagen und Magie, hielt uns lange fest. Doch die Erde ruft weiter. Wir ankerten in der Ría de Villaviciosa, kämpften wieder einmal mit einem Seil im Anker, erlebten Regen, Sturm und kleine Siege. Budhi bekam endlich wieder seine Frisbee-Runde, Mila liebte das frische Regenwasser und Asturien fühlte sich plötzlich ein wenig wie Italien an. In Luanco, dem kleinen Fischerdorf, trafen wir Menschen, die uns sofort willkommen hießen. Wir warteten ein Unwetter ab, verloren uns in grünen Landschaften, landeten auf dem Jakobsweg und machten eine Kuchen-Challenge. Valerie entdeckte ihr neues SUP, Budhi lernte die Welt vom Board aus kennen und wir segelten weiter, immer ein wenig dem Wetter hinterher. Dann kündigte sich der nächste Atlantiksturm an. In Viveiro fanden wir endlich eine ruhige Ankerbucht. Kein Schaukeln. Keine unruhige Nacht. Nur Stille. Doch dieser Ort trug auch eine traurige Geschichte in sich. We have never seen this done before but it sounded way too much fun to ignore so we gave it a go and managed not to cause too much damage. Dancing, Harbor Seals, DIY, Birds, Beach, La Jolla Still having problems with the Northern Lights generator. It starts but will stop unless the glow plug switch is continually depressed. Have been bleeding the fuel lines and replacing relays to no avail. More to come. Painted behind the salon cushions. It looks much better but a bit stinky as it is outgassing. The paint really takes several days to cure so what better time to travel. California here we come. Steve wanted to join the Mile High Club on the airplane. Karen kept up appearances by saying no. But what really happened? We touched down in San Diego hoping we might hear the sonic boom from Artemis II Orion capsule. Never did but still exciting to watch on TV. Instead of relying on some form of compass to lay out a chord of a circle I walk through a practical shop-friendly approach using basic tools to create an accurate crown over a given span. We talk about how deck camber is defined in boat plans, how to translate that into a physical layout, and why this geometric method is often faster and more practical than using a string-and-radius approach—especially in a small shop.
