Retour au bateau : réparation des semelles de basket et reprise du marquage sur la chaîne d’ancre. En fin de journée, balade à terre puis achat d’un poisson pour le repas du soir. Avitaillement : Eau : 100 L pour 2,50 € Gasoil 36 L : 0,94 €/L . Récupération de la 2e bouteille de gaz de 12 kg . Départ en solo pour le mouillage devant la plage de Da Mordeira. This project is to build a budget wooden motor boat in the Mexican jungle. We are back after many things! Making the web stations and more. The making of all marine plywood takes a lot of time! This wooden motor boat is called Wooden Shoe. This is a unique project as we only using disponible wood from fallen trees. The original plans are for a 23 feet boat, but we have changed it to 25 feet and some extra cabin height. We make all frames and plywood. Finalmente siamo pronti per tirare Y2K fuori dall'acqua (non succedeva dal 2023!), ma l'alaggio si è trasformato in un vero e proprio "cinema". Senza il motore funzionante (smontato in attesa di pezzi dal Giappone per via della corrosione) e con il Travel lift del marina che si è rivelato troppo basso per farci entrare di poppa a causa dei pannelli solari, abbiamo dovuto letteralmente smontare mezza barca, rimuovendo sia lo strallo del genoa che quello di trinchetta, mentre ci facevamo rimorchiare dai ragazzi del porto con il loro gommone di servizio! Aftermath of cyclone Vaianu - thankfully the system has now passed us and all is well. We saw high winds yesterday and today with heavy rain all night. Plenty of leaks in the boat that will need to be repaired but thankfully nothing major. We’ve heard stories from all across the north island with lots of people facing similar conditions, some much worse, so we’re grateful the storm moved further east and stayed offshore more than expected. People love to say that sailing is really just doing boat maintenance in exotic places—and they’re not wrong. During a routine engine check, I spotted some gunk in our port Racor filter and knew it had to be cleaned before we head north. Tackling a new maintenance task always brings a bit of anxiety, so I dove into the manuals and a handful of YouTube videos. With the Admiral’s help, I rolled up my sleeves and completed my first Racor replacement on the port engine. The second one went much faster. In this video we install a brand new MANSHIP deck hatch! Like every boat project however, there is only tiny snag. The old hatch has a slightly smaller footprint than our new one! This may not seem like a big deal on the surface...but once we got into the meat of the project it became clear quickly that some modifications needed to be done to our boat, and we needed to make a trim ring to accommodate the new hatch! This was not fault of the hatch, and to be fair...the measurements on each are equal...what was not done well on our boat was how the original manufactured hatch was installed. It was screwed in, and done with very little care to water intrusion in the future. So...we fixed it. All of it. Yep, the 2 day job turned into 6....but in the end we have a gorgeous result and a hatch that will not leak...but better yet? Will be MUCH easier to remove and maintain in the future!
