Today we have finished a job!! The hot box for composting the solids from our composting toilet is done. We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. We have a frequently updated blog at https://sustainablesailing.net with membership options and a weekly newsletter at £2 per month for Early Bird Supporters. Our free Sustainable Sailing book is at: https://sustainablesailing.codeberg.page/ Or visit our shop at https://sustainablesailing.teemill.com/ for great hoodies, t-shirts and bags. When we bought Vida in August 2019 she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all-electric (motor, cooking etc). We picked our weather window for the 50-hour run from the Bahamas to the Dominican Republic along the Thorny Path. The first day was exactly what we hoped for, calm seas and even a little sailing. But once the sun went down the lightning started building around us, and the nights became a whole different kind of passage. In this episode of Sailing Dark Angel, we leave the Bahamas for the 50-hour passage to the Dominican Republic, beginning our run along the notorious Thorny Path. The first day is calm and beautiful, but the nights bring lightning and building squalls that make for a long watch at sea. Just before dawn we reach the coast of the Dominican Republic and wait offshore for daylight, then thread our way into Luperon, one of the safest hurricane holes in the Caribbean. This is our first passage along the Thorny Path from the Bahamas to the Dominican Republic, a route famous among sailors for its headwinds, squalls, and challenging overnight passages. -------------------- 🌊 Sailing Dark Angel follows our real-life journey sailing the Caribbean aboard our Island Spirit catamaran, sharing the challenges, adventures, and everyday moments of liveaboard sailing life. -------------------- 🎥 Become part of the Crew on Patreon Without a Crew, a Ship Has No Direction. Join Jude and Richard aboard Helios for a memorable Alicante city day before our season-closing sail to Cartagena – our winter berth in Spain. We wander the beautiful foreshore along the iconic Explanada de España — that wavy mosaic promenade lined with palm trees and offering stunning sea views. We stroll into the charming old town, stopping for a coffee and pastry, and duck under enormous shady trees when a quick shower passes through. Then we dive into the lively Mercado Central (Alicante Central Market), a 1920s treasure trove bursting with fresh seafood, local produce, cheeses, olives, pastries, and vibrant energy – perfect for grabbing provisions or soaking up authentic Spanish market life. We visit the elegant Concatedral de San Nicolás (Co-Cathedral of Saint Nicholas), a serene Renaissance masterpiece with its striking blue-tiled dome, peaceful cloister, and historic charm right in the heart of the old town. We finish with the easy lift up to Castillo de Santa Bárbara (just €2.70, 30-second ride from near Postiguet Beach) for incredible panoramic views over Alicante Bay, the city, and the Mediterranean – no steep hike needed, and the castle grounds are free to explore with ancient history dating back to the 9th century. A fun surprise: we stroll down the whimsical Calle de Las Setas (aka Mushroom Street or Calle San Francisco) – transformed in 2013 into a fairy-tale wonderland with giant colorful mushroom sculptures, toadstool "houses," yellow brick roads, and playful installations by artist Sergio Martinez. It's a quirky, photo-friendly spot that brings out the childlike joy amid the city bustle – a quick, delightful detour! The passage to Cartagena (~50–70 NM) was wonderfully calm – flat seas and sunshine meant mostly motor-sailing, giving us time to reflect. There's a touch of sadness wrapping up active Med cruising for a few months, but we're genuinely excited to settle into Cartagena: exploring its Roman amphitheater, historic port, local festivals, marina routine, boat tinkering, and deeper community vibes while recharging for what's next. Perfect for anyone eyeing Costa Blanca stops, Med wintering, or loving real couple vlogs with city gems, quirky finds, and honest sailing conditions (even the motory ones!). Today we’re stepping aboard the Northman 1300, a modern European yacht that blends the comfort of a cruising trawler with sleek contemporary design. The first thing you notice is the light and space. The salon is surrounded by large windows, giving you great visibility and making the entire interior feel open and inviting. It’s the kind of boat that immediately feels comfortable the moment you step inside. Some of my favorite things are the smart layout, the cozy cruising vibe, and how practical the whole boat feels for spending real time onboard. Rico was especially interested in the efficiency and systems setup — this is clearly a yacht designed for relaxed cruising rather than speed. If you’re looking for a comfortable cruising boat for coastal adventures or inland waterways, the Northman 1300 is definitely worth a closer look. Enjoy the tour ⚓ Starting Price is $642,000. The 2026 Fort Lauderdale Trawlerfest enjoyed spring break weather and a boat load of new trawlers in a variety of sizes much to the delight of trawler owners, buyers, and boating enthusiasts. The first of three events sponsored by PassageMaker magazine established a lot of momentum. There were five days of seminars with the three “boat show” on the docks of the famous Bahia Mar resort. The dates were February 24 – 28. JMYS continues to support this event through our attendance and contributions as a national sponsor of Trawlerfest. Our family team includes Jeff and Pam Merrill along with Pam’s father, Jon Ingebrigsten. New to the JMYS team, Mark Benno, was aboard for the entire event in his new trawler specialist role and a highlight was having Mark and his wife, Catherine, joining the “Cruisers Roundtable” open discussion on Friday night. We did not have any boats on display this year, but our tent display was a welcome gathering spot for seeing old friends and meeting new friends. Jeff spent a lot of time teaching, in the Bahia Mar seminar rooms moderating two panels, “Trawler Buying Tips” and “Ask the Experts a Town Hall meeting”. He also shared a new talk that was very well received, “Trawler Transactions” based on his PassageMaker column of the same title – a two-hour review of the purchase process. In this Dock Walk and Talk video it’s all about the people and the trawlers. This is a visual time capsule to share some fun memories (including some new TrawlAboard videos in the works) AND to encourage you to make plans to join us at the next one in Anacortes, WA or the final one for 2026 in Baltimore, MD. Anacortes, WA dates are: May 12 – 16, 2026 Baltimore, MD dates are: September 23 – 27, 2026 For details on registration, seminars and boats on display please check in for updates on https://www.TrawlerFest.com We invite you to visit https://www.JMYS.com for an article summary and photo gallery from Trawlerfest. The €3 MILLION Flagship Model! | Beneteau Grand Trawler 63 | The Marine Channel In this video, we take a closer look at the Beneteau Grand Trawler 63, the FLAGSHIP of the trawler range from Beneteau! This long-range cruising yacht is designed to combine efficient passage making with the comfort and space of a modern motor yacht. We begin on deck, exploring the wide side decks, aft cockpit, and spacious flybridge, all designed for relaxed cruising and easy movement around the boat. The layout offers generous outdoor areas for both entertaining and enjoying time at anchor. At the heart of the Grand Trawler 63 is its full-displacement hull, developed with MICAD Naval Architects, designed for efficiency, stability, and long-distance capability. Designed for comfortable passage making, the yacht is capable of impressive range at displacement speeds, making it well-suited to extended cruising. Heading inside, we explore the bright saloon, well-equipped galley, and accommodation layout, where large windows and thoughtful design create a light, open atmosphere throughout the interior. ► The Bordeaux-based shipyard took advantage of its annual “Lagoon Exclusive Days” event to unveil a world preview of its new flagship motor yacht, set to replace the Seventy 8. ► While the newcomer borrows a few elements such as the forward and central sections of the hulls, that’s pretty much it: the hulls have a much higher freeboard, the deck is completely new, as is the interior. The yard’s aim is to take the high-end approach even further with more volume, even better ease of moving around on board, special attention paid to the crew quarters, and above all, the possibility of maximum customization for each unit. Like the Lagoon Eighty 2, this boat’s sailing version twin that we’re testing in our next issue, the Lagoon Eighty 3 remains a production multiyacht, but the yard is clearly moving closer to the idea of pure customization. ► The new model obviously retains the fold-down platform in the owner’s suite on the starboard side, a veritable private terrace just over the water. On board, we were surprised by the unprecedented width of the side-decks that are very secure thanks to raised bulwarks and stainless-steel handrails. Hull #1 reveals a tasteful superyacht touch with its metallic turquoise coachroof and black hardtop. Inside this 4-cabin + 2-crew version, there are also dark marble tops and glass panels - showing the codes of luxury multipowers. ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Lagoon Architect: VPLP Length overall: 80’1” (24.4 m) Hull length: 78’5” (23.91 m) Maximum beam: 36’1” (11 m) Draft: 4’2” (1.27 m) Displacement: 68.5 t Motors: 2 x 580 HP Fuel: 2,245 US gal (8,500 l) Water: 420 US gal Cabins: 4 to 6 Berths: 8 to 16 CE Category: A14/B18/C24/D40 Price: Approx. € 8,500,000 ex-tax ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! For years I assumed I had another 5–10 years as a content creator before technology really started disrupting things. After seeing how fast AI video is advancing… I’m not so sure anymore. AI can now generate voices, scripts, music, and even realistic video scenes. I recently watched several AI-generated reels and videos that honestly fooled me at first. And the scary part is this technology is improving incredibly fast. In this episode I talk about: • AI-generated videos that fooled me • How fast AI video is improving • Why creators might actually lose this battle • How AI could flood YouTube with unlimited content • Whether real creators will still be able to make a living Even if people prefer real creators, the amount of AI content coming could make it almost impossible to compete. But there may still be one thing AI can’t replicate… real life experiences. So is this the end of creators, or just the next evolution of content creation?

Warping - Advanced docking techniques. Following a Transatlantic Crossing from Bermuda where we made landfall in the Portuguese islands of the Azores, we spend time in the port of Horta where we add to our painting on the breakwall, visit Peter’s Café Sport a famous sailors bar, then explore the rest of island of Faial before doing a difficult unrafting manoeuvre demonstrating how to "warp" a boat before setting sail for the island of Terceira.

Welcome aboard Osprey. It’s evening watch here in Cherbourg, Normandy, and tonight we’re continuing the steady work of preparing the boat for sea. In this livestream we’ll be working around the navigation area, installing and organizing the fuel transfer pump manifold, bolting down the heads and finishing a number of small but important jobs around the boat. These are the kinds of details that make a vessel ready for the ocean. The goal is simple: within the next week, depart Cherbourg and sail solo across the Atlantic as a qualifying passage for the Global Solo Challenge. Come aboard and follow the preparation in real time. We’re installing the LP SmartSide siding in Part 9 of our Mountain Home build, and staying healthy is key for this stage of construction. Head to https://drinkag1.com/atticus to get an AG1 Flavor Sampler and a bottle of Vitamin D3+K2 FREE in your Welcome Kit with your first AG1 subscription (a $72 value!). Building a house on a mountain comes with a specific set of problems—mostly involving gravity. In this episode, we tackle the most difficult wall of the build so far. With a steep bank and almost zero clearance for scaffolding, getting the LP SmartSide up was a logistical puzzle that really showed me the value of working with a professional crew. While the exterior is finally getting its "skin," we’re also heading inside to finish up the interior wall framing. Moving from my experience building a DIY shed to framing an actual home has been a massive reality check. I’m learning that in the world of professional construction, "perfect" is often secondary to "practical," and I’m sharing every revelation I pick up from the pros along the way. In this video, we give our dinghy outboard a full spa treatment from start to finish. We cover everything from changing the gear oil and zinc to greasing the propeller, tapping out the tiny roll pin, accessing the lower unit to replace the hard-to-reach impeller, and wrapping it all up by greasing the fittings. This is a one-of-a-kind guide—there aren’t any other YouTube videos that walk through all of these critical maintenance steps in one place. We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. At 43 metres, she has the presence, volume and craftsmanship to impress immediately, but what really sets her apart is the depth of thought behind the way she was built and used. From the huge sundeck and elegant dining spaces to the owner’s private terrace, beautifully detailed guest accommodation and an engine room that says a great deal about the standards on board, this is a yacht that reveals more and more the closer you look. There is real beauty in the materials and finish, but also a welcome sense of practicality throughout. What stood out to me most is that SUNRISE feels like a yacht shaped by experience. The owner was heavily involved during the build, the captain also had meaningful input, and that combination shows in countless details across the vessel. It is this blend of craftsmanship, usability and care that makes her feel so complete — and why I believe she deserves to be much better known than she is. If you enjoy detailed walkthroughs of yachts that are genuinely for sale, this video is very much in the spirit of what this channel is all about. Our shakedown cruise on Little Nutshell finally begins as we leave Shotley Marina and head out for our first night aboard. What starts as a simple system check quickly turns into a crooked night on the hard, a muddy hull clean and a whole lot of learning. Join us for boat maintenance, marina mishaps and the real start of our cruising adventure. Magnus installs the battery monitor on the dash and tidies up the electrical cables underneath before we cast off. We finally leave Shotley Marina and begin the first day of our shakedown cruise on Little Nutshell. The plan is to anchor out for the night and check her systems. We head into Tichmarsh Marina to visit the chandlery, as the harbour master has kindly let us pull up alongside. Then it’s out again and onto a mooring for the night, although we still don’t get to test our anchor. We check out the scrubbing poles at the marina, where we plan to head in the early hours of the morning to inspect Little Nutshell’s hull and give her a good clean so we can work out whether she needs antifouling or new anodes. Our calculations aren’t quite right and we end up sitting on the very end of the concrete footings for the scrubbing poles. It’s a crooked night from then on. We check her bottom and she’s in good nick. There aren’t too many barnacles on the hull, but the propeller is smothered in them. Magnus is a real gentleman and does the majority – actually, all – of the cleaning and scrubbing. It’s muddy, slippery and not the most pleasant job. Then it’s back out of the marina and onto a mooring for the night. Hope you enjoy the episode. Until next time, Wendy and Magnus HYPE US! This is the Riva 58' Capri, powered by twin 1,000-hp MAN diesel engines – or a 1,200-hp configuration for those seeking higher performance. Built to CE Category A standards, the most exacting in the pleasure-boating world, the 58' Capri isn’t just sporty, elegant and beautiful, she’s simply a dream to cruise. Hard to helm? Far from it. With the automatic controls to manage trim, balance and roll, the yacht remains stable, the rudder centres itself, and the course is maintained with ease. She’s simple to handle yet thrillingly quick. Slip the throttle forward and her super-sporty soul is revealed – with the hard top open at 38 knots, the open-yacht experience is complete. Captivating at first sight, she becomes truly irresistible when you take her out on the sea. @RivaYacht @MaurizioBulleri #RivaYachts #Riva58Capri #ItalianExcellence #FerrettiGroup #TimelessElegance
