Women sailors were invited to sail on eight J/105 sailboats on San Francisco Bay. Hosted by St. Francis Yacht Club on May 22nd, 2022, the eight women skippers enjoyed gorgeous, classic sailing conditions on the Bay. Three fun, quick races were sailed with an award ceremony held afterwards in St Francis YC.

The 2021 Rolex Sydney Hobart Race started on Boxing Day, December 26th off Sydney Harbour, Australia. The 628.0nm race goes south and finishes at Hobart, Tasmania. Sweeping overall corrected time honors among the Doublehanders was Jules Hall and Jan 'Clogs' Scholten on the J/99 DISKO TROOPER- CONTENDER SAILCLOTH to gather the top prizes in Doublehanded IRC, ORC, and PHS Divisions. Remarkably, the J/99 DISKO TROOPER also won ORC Overall for the fleet (fully-crewed + doublehanders) by over 3 HOURS! The remnants of an offshore hurricane presented the perfect opportunity to go sailing offshore in the Bay of Biscay, off Les Sables d'Ollone, France. A mixed doublehanded team (reflecting the Paris 20204 Olympic Games new offshore event) took to the big seas (8-12 footers) and big breeze (20 to 30+ knots) to push the J/99 to its limits. Presented annually by Mystic Seaport since 2006, the "America and the Sea Award" recognizes an individual or organization whose contributions to the history, arts, business or sciences of the sea best exemplify the American spirit and character. Mystic Seaport presented its 2016 America and the Sea Award to Bob and Rod Johnstone - the brothers that co-founded J/Boats. The Johnstones received the award Saturday, October 22 at a gala black-tie dinner held in their honor at the Museum. The gala was the first and only dinner held in the Collins Gallery in the new Thompson Exhibition Building prior to its ongoing use to display exhibits. "Over the past 39 years, the Johnstone family and their company have influenced American yachting and sport of sailing in incomparable ways. They have established a record of accomplishment that few will ever challenge, and they have instilled in countless Americans a passion for enjoying time on the water with family and good friends aboard good boats," said Steve White, President of Mystic Seaport.
