We spent a week in total which included a quick road trip around the big island of Hawaii (yes, it's its own island) visiting the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park as well as a few of the more colorful beaches. But I have to say the highlight of the week was getting to visit Pearl Harbor. It was a very sobering experience, matched only by my visit to Normandy years earlier, but it was an important reminder of the tragedies of war and the sacrifices of previous generations to help deliver us to where we are today. Ilha Grande (Île Grande) : 200 km² de nature préservée, à une centaine de miles de Rio de Janeiro. Un cadre de rêve, pour une escale trop courte! Notre visa de 3 mois a expiré, Loïck, notre rêve d'Antilles doit atteindre au plus vite et le plus discrètement possible, la frontière uruguayenne. Pas le temps de se la couler douce, nous nous préparons à un prochain départ. Loïck, notre Rêve d'Antilles, est au mouillage à une centaine de miles de Rio de Janeiro, dans la baie d'Ilha Grande, au cœur de l'espace protégé des Tamoios. Dernière citadelle de la foret Atlantique brésilienne, l'île abrite une biodiversité exceptionnelle. Elle héberge en plus d'un parc naturel, une réserve bio marine. Pour fuir les calmes qui malmènent le bateau et l'équipage, nous piquons vers la terre un peu au hasard. Sur la carte une petite anse au sud d'Ilhabella promet un mouillage confortable et isolé. Nous sommes toujours clandestins et cherchons à éviter les rencontres avec les autorités. Lors de notre seconde escale à Buenos Aires, nous rencontrons le skipper d'Ypake, l'un des rares voiliers de grande croisière argentin qui s'en revient d'un grand voyage en Europe, et plus particulièrement en France, pays sur lequel il pose un regard passionnant. Ypake, c'est le nom de leur voilier, la contraction de Y para que? Et pourquoi? C'est la réponse de cette famille à l'injonction du " toujours plus " de la société de consommation.

Episode 8 When we planned our summer, Ibiza was top of our list. It’s a must visit island with stunning scenery, the coolest bohemian vibe, some of the world’s best night clubs and perfect weather…. Or so we thought! This year saw thew worst storm in Ibiza in 20 years with much of the island experiencing 40+ knot winds. We knew there was a storm on the way from the north so found the best shelter we could on the south of the island. In Cala Jondal, where we anchored, one small boat sank and about a dozen yachts dragged their anchors but on the whole we were ion the best place. Many other yachts were not so lucky. We counted over 20 May Day calls on the VHF with some seriously distressed yacht crews, it was horrible to witness. In Cala Perroig (the bay next to us) our friends watched as a car and a van floated past them heading out to sea! After the craziness of the storm we headed for Formentera which is an island south of Ibiza for a couple of days chilling, eating and drinking with our friend Sally on board. In this episode I am helping Nick Ranson out from Rib Boats Ibiza getting one off his boats off the bouy and into the safe harbour. I am preparing for the storm and attaching a second anchor to my chain to be more secure. Attaching a second anchor will help keeping the chain on the ground and therefore increasing the scoop so your primairy anchor won't lift up. DON'T TRY THIS IF YOU ARE NOT A EXTREME WELL DIVER!!

We're in CUBA! But we've got a real Cuban stowaway hiding aboard SA3 and we struggle to get it off the boat! ; ) After clearing Customs and Immigration we were free to explore. A fun Cuban ferry ride later and we were in the city of Santiago de Cuba, and it was amazing. What a step back in time. Cuba's Southern side is amazing and we're poised to explore all of it with our Catamaran SA3 as our home base. Stay Tuned! We have lots of adventures ready to share! CUBA is EPIC! The third episode of my Adventure to learn to ride a foil board! It’s still not easy at all. In this episode I am finally on top of the board a few times. And then you notice how different the balance is compared to a normal board. I have been into ‘regular’ kitesurfing for 7 years now, but this is such a different game! You really are starting again from the beginning. Everything takes so much more concentration that even just flying the kite properly can sometimes feel difficult again! In this session I am still using the board without any straps, the idea was to be as safe as possible. But using just a loose front strap will make things so much easier, which I will discover in the next session..! I hope you will enjoy and appreciate some of my progress made in this episode ;-) The spot is Fuwairit Beach, Qatar. Right in the Middle East where I've lived for some time now. Sailing in the Northern Sea of Cortez, we stumble across an incredible sight… A sardine bait ball that had attracted hundreds of feeding sharks, tuna, dorado, and even a sea lion and lots birds! We douse the sails and drift into the center of the feeding frenzy, watching the food chain in action. We find ourselves without guests for the first time as we move around a few more of the Cyclades. Paros is one of our favourite islands of them all, especially later in the season as it wasn’t so busy, but full of beautiful Greek buildings, delicious healthy cafes, and gorgeous boutique shopping. We take the opportunity and base ourselves here for a few days to fix the watermaker and get some jobs done. We then scoot down to Ios, so we can moor L’Attitude Adjustment somewhere safe so we can visit Santorini. It’s an island that is super difficult to anchor around and with just the two of us, we thought it safer to moor at the island close by, and take the ferry across. We are so glad we made the effort to get to Santorini, as despite its touristy reputation, it truly is a magical and stunning island, so different from everywhere else. Adam was slightly skeptical before we arrived but left with an ever-lasting impression from this beautiful island. Oh and the Smartcar was a HUGE awesomeness factor! We then eye a small, but good weather window and leave straight away to Milos to check out of Greece and head to the island archipelago of Malta…Wipee!
