The blistering slingshot start out of Lisbon lasted for days as the fleet charged south. It was a punishing ride and a baptism of fire.

Now that the puppies are older than 3 months, they are ready to go to their new loving families. We still continue their training so they will be great puppies to their new homes. Our first litter could not have found better families to live their life! Nice families with kids and near or on the sea. Filmed in 2017.

Trois mois de travaux à bord, c'est ce que nous avions prévu pour préparer Loïck notre "Rêve d'Antilles", à son grand départ. Six mois plus tard, notre voilier est loin d'être prêt. Soudure de la baille à mouillage, visite de l'intérieur de la quille, installation électrique, autant d'expériences certes loin de la navigation hauturière, mais qui font partie du voyage…. Après 9 mois de travaux à bord à Saint Brieuc, dans les Cotes d'Armor, la fin du chantier approche, pour Loïck notre Rêve d'Antilles. Un tout petit bateau, Mohini, s'installe à nos cotés, sous le hangar, un Sylphe de 6m50, qui se prépare pour un grand tour en Méditerranée... et même une traversée de l'Atlantique! Son propriétaire, Claude, 67 ans, part pour une autre vie, avec sa compagne, Isabelle. Bricoleur inventif, il a largement modifié sa coque et son intérieur pour ce long voyage. Après une année de chantier, retour à l'eau pour Loïck, notre "Rêve d'Antilles".  Une petite ballade pour tester nos nouveaux équipements nous mène jusqu'à Chausey, à une quarantaine de miles au nord-est de Saint Brieuc, notre port d'attache. La singularité du mouillage dans le magnifique archipel normand, lors des grandes marées, mérite quelques explications. Cap au sud! Après une année et demi de préparation, nous quittons Brest à bord de Loïck, notre Rêve d'Antilles. Top départ pour notre grand voyage: Au coeur de l'hiver nous nous présentons à l'entrée du Golfe de Gascogne. Une zone de navigation que les marins, même les plus expérimentés, ne prennent pas à la légère. Analyses des situations météos recommandées pour dégolfer en hiver, avec Jean-Yves Bernot, météorologue et routeur. Au Brésil, la construction amateur reste réservée à quelques pionniers, Eugénio est l'un d'entre eux. Dans son garage, il se donne 4 ou 5 ans pour terminer son Dudley Dix, un petit croiseur côtier. Après une réparation de fortune des chariots de latte, notre navigation retrouve son cours tranquille. L'attention se tourne vers la cambuse. Le frais vient à manquer, mais l'océan nous gâte. Traverser l'Atlantique, passer le pot au noir, franchir l'équateur et atteindre l'Amérique du Sud, voilà ce que nous attendons de Loïck pour cette nouvelle étape. Nous levons l'ancre du Cap-Vert pour trois semaines de mer. Cap sur le Brésil par la route la plus courte, 1600 milles pour rejoindre João Pessoa. Notre plus longue traversée. Loïck, notre "Rêve d'Antilles" traverse l'archipel du Cap Vert en escadre avec Antouka, le ketch acier d'Alexandre. Les deux voiliers font maintenant escale à Tarrafal une baie peu visitée au nord de l'ile de Santiago. Loick, notre Rêve d'Antilles est au mouillage, avec Antouka - le ketch acier d'Alexandre- dans la baie de Tarrafal, au nord de l'île de Santiago. Tous les matins, à la plage, au retour des pêcheurs, femmes et hommes se retrouvent autour de la pêche du jour. Cris et rires au moment de négocier les prix de vente du poisson. Premières rencontres avec les habitant de la Villa des Pêcheurs à Cabedelo, au nord du Brésil. Loick notre rêve d'Antilles y fait escale sur le fleuve Paraiba après sa traversée de l'Atlantique. Dans le même temps à la Marina Jacquaré, nous retrouvons Stéphane, Séverine et leur deux fillettes Lilly et Betty. Loïck, piégé par un récent changement de législation, se voit refuser l'extension de son séjour au Brésil. Nous sommes en plein milieu du pays, sans papiers. 1200 miles à parcourir avant d'atteindre l'Uruguay. One a dive from the MV Bilikiki we had some great cuttlefish action at Karanjou Island in Marovo Lagoon in September 2017. I had never seen this type of behaviour before. In the Florida ICW swamp, a No See Um swarm descends upon our sailboat and her crew. A horrible night ensues. 2 of the absolute worst nights we've experienced has been caused by something roughly the size of a poppy seed. Of course, there are millions of them, they sneak into the boat through tiny cracks, and they feast on your flesh while you sleep... I'm referring to the dreaded NO SEE UM! Yes indeed, what a horrible little insect. We do, in fact, have specially designed screens on our boat that are supposed to protect us from insects. The screens do an excellent job of keeping mosquitos away, but they're simply no match for the minuscule size of the no see um... they slip right though the screens. Since the screens are of no use, what we have to do is physically close up every single opening in any way we possibly can. This practice is actually very effective at keeping no see ums out of the boat, however, it's also equally effective at keeping oxygen out. DOH! So in this video you'll see us suffering through a no see um attack, and you'll also get to see us traveling about through Daytona Beach and a few other spots as well. Then, the cherry of the video... you'll experience first hand one of Tambi's hidden talents. She can actually tie a knot in a cherry stem using nothing more than her tongue. Ohhhhh mama! The average age of Schneider’s trucks is 2.5 years … with one very notable 66-year-old exception: Vinny. But Vinny (short for “vintage”) doesn’t look a day over 2.5. In fact, Schneider’s beloved 1949 tractor looks brand new thanks to a recently completed four-month restoration. It’s incredible to see a piece of history come back to life. At one point, though, Vinny was as good as dead … Finding Vinny If Vinny could talk, he’d have quite a story to tell. The tractor was found in a Fond du Lac, Wis., farm field in 1990 by a former Schneider driver named Mel Hazaert. Once Mel had Vinny in his possession, he located a trailer from the same era and became determined to transform the equipment into a museum piece for Schneider. Mel and four other Schneider associates (Marty Briggs, Ken Neilson, Pat Fleming and Al Lenny) spent about 1,100 hours on reconstruction before presenting him to then-President Don Schneider on April 26, 1991. Since then, this antique truck and trailer have represented Schneider at various events, parades and public activities. But 24 more years took a toll on Vinny … A(nother) Fresh Face for Vinny Vinny was once again starting to show signs of age. As his caretaker, I couldn’t stand to see rust literally eat away at such a unique piece of company history. I solicited the services of a local company, Trudell, to perform an extensive four-month restoration, which was completed the first week of September 2015. Trudell replaced the bottom 4-6 inches of both truck doors, fabricated and replaced the truck’s floor pan and replaced all three trailer doors — yes, three. The entire unit was media blasted to remove rust, and a gorgeous fresh paint job made Vinny look better than ever. Vinny will continue to be a true, permanent reminder of Schneider’s rich history since 1935, and the hard work and dedication of its associates. He is just as much a part of our company as any other Schneider tractor on the road today. Driving Vinny is an awesome experience, and I love to show the truck any chance I get!
