The history of the Abbey, begins in 1372, with the consecration of a Mary chapel paid for by Elisabeth von Kuenring. In 1410 Augustinian Canons were brought to Dürnstein from Wittgua in Bohemia, and the expanded building complex was established as a monastery. We’re anchored off Koh Phangan, Thailand, but before we can continue our trip we have a problem—we’re getting pretty low on diesel. There are no traditional fuel docks on the island, so we head ashore and visit a few marinas hoping to find someone who can help us fill up. After striking out everywhere we try, we eventually give up on the fuel search and head back to the boat. From there, things get a whole lot better. We raise anchor in Haad Rin, home of Koh Phangan’s famous Full Moon Party, and set sail for another bay just up the coast. What follows is an absolutely beautiful sail and an incredible new anchorage. But the biggest surprise comes in Termini Imerese... While heading back to Rúna, we spot a yacht sitting on the harbour wall that we instantly recognise. The 56-metre superyacht Bayesian, which sank off the coast of Sicily near Porticello during a violent storm in August 2024, tragically claiming seven lives. After being raised from almost 50 metres below the Mediterranean Sea, Bayesian was brought to Termini Imerese, where the investigation into the sinking continues. Seeing the Bayesian yacht up close was a sobering reminder of just how powerful and unpredictable the sea can be.
