In this episode, I tackle a full cooling system service on my boat engine — starting with the raw water (seawater) side, and finishing with the coolant system. What started as “just a quick visit” to the boat turned into: Replacing raw water hoses Flushing the seawater cooling circuit Replacing exhaust hoses Draining the coolant Emptying the water heater lines Refilling and topping up the cooling system All of this while working full-time and preparing for a work trip to Amsterdam. This is real boat ownership — not a marina fantasy. Things take time. Access is tight. Nothing is ever just five minutes. If you own a sailboat or powerboat with an inboard diesel engine, this is a real-world look at maintaining both sides of the cooling system: The raw water (sea) circuit The closed-loop coolant system Step by step. After work. Bit by bit. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 00:00 The plan: full cooling system service 01:04 Replacing raw water hoses 03:59 Flushing the seawater system 05:52 Exhaust hose replacement 11:15 First engine test – checking water flow 14:57 Draining the coolant 17:23 Emptying water heater lines 20:03 Refilling the cooling system 21:38 Quick interior trim replacement 22:49 What’s next: oil, diesel & belt 🔧 WHAT’S NEXT Engine oil change Diesel filter replacement Belt replacement Final engine run & coolant level check #BoatMaintenance #BoatEngine #MarineDiesel #RawWaterCooling #CoolingSystem #BoatLife #SailingLife #DIYBoat #ExhaustHose #EngineService #BoatOwnership Special thanks to Xavi Villanueva Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFuWfLVgIBL6JzolbRqefXw/join

Photoradio@rocketmail.com In this video I'm shaving with the Bronze Timeless Safety Razor in conjunction with a Willy's Razor blade. The shaving soap is Master Soap Creations Vintage Spice in conjunction with the matching aftershave Splash. The shaving brush is the Yaqi Ever Hopeful Green with a 26mm synthetic knot. I load the wet shaving brush directly from the puck of soap. I then take the shaving brush to my face and apply the soap to my skin. I then gradually add small amounts of water to the soap until I create a nice lather. I perform a three pass shave. First pass with the grain. Second pass across the grain. Third pass against the grain. I then rinse my face with cold water and apply the aftershave splash. #shaving #shavingcream #skincare #shavingproducts #shave #shavingsoap #shavingsupplies #safetyrazors #skincareroutine Thank you very much for your time. please consider subscribing to my channel.

¡Hola, amigos y amigas! ⛵💙

How much does it really cost to charter a yacht? In this video, we break down the real cost of luxury yacht charter and explain why the advertised weekly rate is only the starting point. Using the 77m Golden Yachts MALIA as a real-world example, we look at how a base charter rate of €750,000 per week can quickly become around €1.2 million once you factor in the additional costs that come with a fully bespoke experience. We explain the key elements that shape the final price, including the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), VAT, and crew gratuities, as well as the operational costs that many people do not fully understand. That includes fuel, food and drink, marina fees, port charges, tenders, water toys, shore services, provisioning, and special requests onboard. This is a useful guide for anyone curious about superyacht charter prices, how yacht charter costs really work, and why no two charters ever cost the same. Chartering a yacht is not like booking a hotel or renting a villa. It is a tailored travel experience built entirely around the guests onboard, and the final price depends heavily on how the yacht is used, where it cruises, and the lifestyle you want to enjoy during the trip. We also touch on why a charter in the South of France during peak season can cost far more than a quieter itinerary elsewhere, even on the very same yacht. Next Saturday we’ll be publishing a walkthrough of the stunning 50m Tankoa yacht KINDA, so make sure you’re subscribed so you don’t miss it. You can also sign up for the INSIDE INFO newsletter via the link in the description to hear more about what we are doing as a team, what is coming up next, and a few extra details that do not always make it into the videos. First light and we are on the move to the well-known Paxos which is famous for its stunning waters & atmospheric little village. Being very popular, we are leaving early to hopefully get a spot, with Anti Paxos as our back-up destination. We arrive and although busy, we find a good spot to med moor - our first time! We pull it off pretty well and enjoy what med mooring has to offer. We swim, wander town and get dinner with our newly made friends. We spend a few days here, later joined by another boat friend before heading to our next location & catching Hugh's fish of a lifetime... Want early access to our videos? We spend almost a week in Subic Bay getting the boat prepared for the onward journey, then the real cruising began. Sailing though the islands down to the start of Palawan. Amazing sights and learning to love Miko a bit more every day. Philippines has over 7000 islands, hence the exploring options are incredible.

The first Regal LX43 has just landed in Australia, setting a new standard for how a dayboat should feel. The Regal LX43 is built around one essential idea: make space work smarter. At the heart of it are the fold-down terrace doors. Open both sides of the cockpit and watch the boat transform. You are no longer sitting in a confined helm station. You are standing on a genuine on-water platform. It is a game changer at anchor, turning a traditional cockpit into an expansive social space. This is what the LX range does best. It focuses on usable space, natural flow, and real comfort without sacrificing performance. The layout feels open and connected throughout, supported by Regal’s FasTrac hull for speed, efficiency, and a smoother ride. The result is a boat built for how you actually use it. Entertaining guests, unwinding at anchor, and moving seamlessly between zones. It is not just more space. It is smarter space.

Gibraltar is always a really interesting place to sail to, in fact it's somewhere every sailor should visit at least once. We've been many times and always discover new things and enjoy our time here. The anchorage here is good but it's on the Spanish side, La Linea, so it's much more convenient to visit the marinas in Gibraltar itself and our favourite is Ocean Village which has some of the best facilities of any marina and is perfectly positioned in the heart of Gib. We had a mix of weather during our stay, but enough warm dry weather to get the varnishing done. I remember usually waiting until at least May to get this sort of work done in the UK so it's great to do it in March. Gibraltar usually has a cable car to get up the rock, so we usually go up in that and walk back down, however it's having a major refurb so will be out of action for a couple of years. This ends up being a good thing as we look for other ways to explore and find a great bike shop right by Ocean Village that rents eBikes, our favourite! We can thoroughly recommend hiring eBikes to explore the rock, it kakes it possible to get around all the good stuff, the caves, the siege tunnels and also the WW2 tunnels which had been closed for a long time so this was our first visit to them. We are very impressed with the Awotrol D1-D2 varnish we are using so far. It goes on easily and looks good. The real test of course though will be how well it lasts. The other thing we were very impressed by was the fishing reel from 'Fish:Helm' which seems like a very good robust design, I'm very much looking forward to using it. You can take a look at their website here: https://www.fishhelm.com/helm If you come to Gibraltar then we definitely recommend an eBike so talk to Stuart at ebike gibraltar: https://ebike-gibraltar.com/ Also you may remember we were trying to find good sailing clothes at METS earlier in the year after a very expensive Musto jacket that we bought in Annapolis just fell apart. Well we opted to get some gear from Henri Lloyd who are really focusing on their sail wear now and have some excellent gear. We've been very happy with the items we got at METS and said so & now Henri Lloyd are offering our viewers a discount, even better! In this episode of Sailing Mirage, I continue exploring the incredible islands of the Bahamas. This time I make a 70 nautical mile solo passage from Rum Cay to Cat Island. As usual, I’m sailing alone aboard Mirage, so the day starts early to catch the tide and strong morning breeze. Midway through the voyage, after clearing Conception Island, the ocean changes character. Long rolling Atlantic swells begin to build — tall enough that at one point a massive cruise ship completely disappears behind the waves, which was pretty funny to watch. Aside from the big ocean swell, the passage turns into a fast and smooth sail. Another beautiful day on the water, surrounded by the deep blues and turquoise waters that make the Bahamas so special. Join me aboard Mirage for another day of solo sailing, open ocean, and island exploration. ⛵ Boat: Amel 50 – Mirage 🌊 Passage: Rum Cay → Cat Island (70 NM) 👤 Crew: Solo If you enjoy sailing, ocean passages, and the beauty of the Bahamas, you’re in the right place. #sailing #bahamas #solosailing #sailinglife #catisland #amel50 #sailingmirage

Welcome to the Sailing and Cruising the East Coast of the United States podcast! In this episode, hosts Bela Musits and Mike Wasserman sit down with veteran media professional and author Dick Stone to explore the remarkable true story behind the construction and voyage of the Mayflower II. Episode Highlights The Origins of Project Mayflower: Dick recounts how a group of British veterans, led by Warwick Charlton, decided to build and sail a replica of the original Mayflower as a gift of gratitude to the United States after World War II. A Tale of Two Visionaries: Learn how the British initiative merged with the dream of New Englander Henry Hornblower, who was simultaneously working to establish the Plymouth Plantation museum in Massachusetts. Authentic Construction: Discover the challenges of building a 17th-century wooden ship using historical designs and materials, and the significance of replacing 70% of that wood during its recent major renovation at Mystic Seaport Museum. Sailing Without Modern Tech: Dick describes the incredible feat of sailing the Mayflower II across the Atlantic using no modern navigation, arriving in New York Harbor on July 1st, 1957. A Presidential Connection: Explore the ship's link to John F. Kennedy, who stood on its decks and whose love of the sea helped spark the "Operation Sail" tall ship events that continue today. Upcoming Tall Ship Celebrations: Get the details on the massive tall ship flotilla gathering along the Eastern Seaboard in the coming months, including stops in New Orleans, Norfolk, Baltimore, New York, and Boston. Why You Should Listen This isn't just a story about a boat; it’s a deep dive into "lost history" and the "special relationship" between nations. Dick Stone, a masterful storyteller with a background at ESPN, NBC, and HBO, brings to life the underdog spirit that saw a wooden replica cross an ocean to become an American icon. Resources Mentioned Book: Project Mayflower: Building and Sailing a 17th Century Replica by Dick Stone (Distributed by Simon & Schuster). Museums: Plymouth Plantation and Mystic Seaport Museum. We have 86 days left of our 100 day to launch challenge. Despite many heavy hail showers we made great progress. Both forecabin windows are fully bolted in. The first forward heads window is fully dry fitted. The boards to hold in the insulation are marked. Also we have had a big clear up and the forecabin is full as organised storage. We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. We have a frequently updated blog at https://sustainablesailing.net with membership options and a weekly newsletter at £2 per month for Early Bird Supporters. Our free Sustainable Sailing book is at: https://sustainablesailing.codeberg.page/ Or visit our shop at https://sustainablesailing.teemill.com/ for great hoodies, t-shirts and bags. When we bought Vida in August 2019 she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all-electric (motor, cooking etc). To race around the world alone non-stop is pretty special and those that succeed enter an elite club. But when it comes to lapping the planet against the prevailing winds and currents, non-stop and alone the list stops way short of double figures. Last Christmas, solo sailor Guirec Soudée left France to set a new record and add his name to the gang, but his campaign took a very different approach. Instead of choosing a sturdy metal hulled monohull, Soudée and his team decided to take on the world in reverse with a fragile Ultim trimaran. And from that point onwards everything was different. Indeed, some may think it's all the wrong way round. This an extraordinary story about an exceptional young sailor/adventurer who has consistently taken a bold an alternative approach. As we publish this feature he is just a few days from a finish that will see him smash what is one of the hardest records to complete, let alone break. Plus, we have a helping of Docktalk CHAPTERS & LINKS 00:49 Wrong way round, how hard is it? 03:59 Soudée sets off 07:54 Heading for the Horn 09:11 The big route north 12:03 Australian battering 15:31 Cyclone ahead 20:07 Around the Cape of Good Hope 22:30 Heading for Home 26:31 Docktalk - Aegean 600 25:31 Docktalk MC1 Spars

Visit the majestic islands of Socorro, San Benedicto, and Roca Partida in the Archipielago de Revillagigedo. These islands are 250 miles from San Jose del Cabo and home to seven species of sharks, including schooling hammerheads, tiger, white tip reef, silky, Galapagos, black tip, and silver tip. Welcome back to another episode of WE|Sail. EPISODE 334 We're back from Australia, the cook hook is installed, and we're heading deeper into Fiji's outer islands. But this episode isn't about big projects or dramatic sailing. It's about the everyday life aboard our sailboat that we don't always show. Living on a boat full time means doing all the same things you do at home: laundry, meal prep, cleaning, maintenance. Just a little differently. When you're planning to be in remote anchorages for weeks without access to a grocery store, food preservation becomes essential. Bananas and pineapples get cut up and frozen. Fresh produce gets organized and prioritized. We have a washing machine on the boat (yes, really). Laundry day looks pretty similar to life on land, just with more salt air and sunshine. Instead of mowing the lawn, I polish stainless steel to combat the constant salt spray. Instead of running to the hardware store, Warren works through his ongoing maintenance list: checking systems, keeping everything running smoothly. We're the same as everyone else, really. We just happen to be doing it on a sailboat in the middle of the Pacific during cyclone season. And that means being strategic about where we anchor, balancing the desire to explore remote islands with the need for protected anchorages if the weather turns. This is what a normal week looks like for us. The routines, the chores, the systems that keep our floating home comfortable and functional when we're miles from civilization. Not every week is flying to Australia to build boat parts. Most weeks are just... this. The day-to-day life that keeps everything working. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ⚓ Thanks for watching! Every year, coast guards find sailboats abandoned and drifting in the Pacific — no crew, no distress signal, no explanation. Here are the five real reasons this keeps happening. But this isn't the mystery most people think it is. After researching official coast guard records, salvage reports, and first-hand survivor accounts, I uncovered five distinct reasons this keeps happening in the Pacific — and the most common one is something the sailing industry doesn't like to talk about. In this video I break down all five reasons: medical emergencies at sea, man overboard incidents on solo passages, financial collapse mid-crossing, seized and scuttled vessels, and the psychological breaking point that long-distance sailors rarely admit exists. If you're planning a Pacific crossing, an offshore passage, or any extended bluewater voyage — watch this before you leave the dock. 🔎 In this video: 00:00 — The scale of the problem 01:00 — Reason 1: Medical emergencies at sea 02:30 — Reason 2: Man overboard on solo passages 04:00 — Reason 3: Financial abandonment (the one nobody talks about) 06:30 — Reason 4: Seized and scuttled vessels 09:00 — Reason 5: Psychological collapse offshore 11:00 — How to protect yourself - Copyright Fair Use Disclaimer: The material presented in this video is not exclusively owned by us.
