New boat delivery

We rent a little red car at the Great Harbour Cay marina for $60, and we take off to explore the entire island from North to South. First stop is the "Rat Pack Ruins". This old club house is where Frank Sinatra and even John Wayne were known to hang out. It's in pretty rough shape, but it's still intriguing to imagine the types that would frequent this off-the-beaten-path club house. Next we set off for the Sugar Beach Caves. It didn't take us long to locate the right spot with the clearly defined walking path. WOW, this cave was amazing! Such a cool beach as well with it's small pools of water. We'll be back for sure. We grab a quick lunch at the Beach Club Grill, and then head off towards Shelling Beach. I'm not sure if we were in the wrong spot because there was a distinct lack of shells here. Oh well, it was gorgeous none-the-less. Then after enduring an onslaught of hungry no-see-ums while we get our snorkeling gear on, we swim across Shark Creek towards Hawksnest Cay. This post is supposed to be great snorkeling, but the swell was so rough that we weren't able to make it out to the charted snorkeling spot. It was still a great adventure though. Finally, we return to the boat after a full day of island exploration. Thanks for watching!! Swimming with whales in Vava'u. Swimming with humpback whales was the highlight of the Vava'u islands. Humpback whales come to Tonga to breed and give birth and Tonga is one of the few places in the world where you are allowed to swim with them. We had our friend Sharon onboard for 10 days. Sharon had never swum with whales before , so spending time up close with a mum and baby humpback was an amazing experience for her. The weather is a little tricky as instead of the typical south east trades, we get a week of westerlies. We find good shelter in Hunga lagoon even if the entrance is a little tricky. In between kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling and drone flying, we find time to celebrate Shazza's birthday. It was time to show some love to our Annecam and dressing the teak is just one area that needed some TLC. We all know there is always something to be done on a yacht.

This week we take some time off from the boat works and head down to Trellis Bay in Tortola to enjoy the full moon party and catch up with some friends. We fly over to Virgin Gorda and take in the amazing scenery and go for a snorkel in The Baths. We decide to do a shakedown motor to Virgin Gorda to test out old Zephyr. We dock for the first time ever and get some fuel and water for the journey. Once we are confident all is well, we check out and start heading to St. Marteen to get our new mast and sails. With an afternoon off in Thailand, we visit the Ethical Elephant Sanctuary. https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we are in Thailand! After needing a mountain of stainless steel fabricated for our refit of Nandji we decided to head to Thailand on Uncles boat as the craftsman ship is much better than Langkawi at a more affordable price. We set off for a week long trip and hoped to get everything made in the short time we planned to stay. After riding around on our scooters for over 4 hours a day chasing up and organising the work to be done, we found ourselves with an afternoon off in Phuket! Bonita had heard of an ethical Elephant Sanctuary where they care for old disabled elephants. The sanctuary buys the Elepahnts from around Thailand from people who mistreat and abuse the elephants and then offer them a safe natural place for them to live in their normal habitat. Having no idea where to go, we set off on our scooter trying to find and learn more about this amazing place! With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We have just sailed 2000nm through Indonesia and have arrived to Malaysia to complete major boat work, ready for the next big adventure. We departed Australia 18 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some beautiful people and experienced different cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it!
