Season 4 | Episode 63 | Sailing home to Los Angeles On this episode we say farewell to Cat Harbor. Its time to get back to real life so we drop the mooring line and point out to sea. Motorsailing through the rolling swells as we enjoy the beautiful cliffs of Catalina Island. Passing "Ribbon Rock" then the iconic "Eagle Rock" we made our way past the West End and soon we were under sail alone. The sun came out and we sailed wing and wing on what little breeze we had. Smiling all the while. We had a lovely quiet sail home with the only excitement being refueling at sea in the dark as I didn't want to risk running out of fuel near Angels Gate Lighthouse. Just like that another amazing trip is in the books. We visited a new Island and stayed at two new anchorages I had never been to. I always want to visit new places when I sail if at all possible so I was very happy with how I trip turned out. Lots of firsts for Camille on this trip, Her first time sleeping on a boat, her first long sailing passage, her first anchoring experiences and her first time snorkeling. Lots more to come... Our next set of adventure videos will be of a trip Camille, Mr. Steady (Her blue heeler) and myself took to Catalina for New Years Eve. Thanks again to all of our Patrons!!!! Just a few nautical miles north of Dominica is a cluster of French islands called The Saints. WE Sail off to spend a few days roaming around the island of Terre de Haut before sailing up to the mainland of Guadeloupe. We were told by fellow cruisers that you must rent a scooter and explore the Fort of Napoleon at the top of the hill for an incredible panoramic view of the islands. We continue on to mainland Point a Pitre for a few more nights while we finish up a few more boat projects and of course shop at the local markets at the port. Just before heading off to Antigua, we spend a single night at a very windy anchored called Deshaies (pronounced day-hays). The winds were tunneling through the anchorage at 30 plus knots and causing much havoc among cruisers coming in for the night. We spent the remainder of the day on high alert and stayed on watch as boat after boat attempted to find a safe spot for the night. We were happy to leave first thing in the morning to say the least. Enjoy the adventures of WE! Song Credit: "Lift You Up" by Sean Koch Trio & "Wade in Your Water" by Common Kings Become a Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/WEsail

#wecrashedtheboat #crashatsea Well, the girls are gone, the fun is over so let’s do the hard work! Simon does an excellent job fixing the keel that we hit on the reefs. Then we go on to do the anti fouling, first we had to put a coat of prime as the paint is not compatible with the one we had before. A lot of work, sending and painting in awful conditions with the wind and the hit on the boat yard. But boat maintenance is always something that you have to go through. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, fifteen months after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love Carla and Simon

The 44Cup crews were taken out of their comfort zone today for the 44Cup Porto Montenegro navigator’s race, a pro-am event for the usual nine teams, but with more guest racers on board. After a wait for the wind to fill in, Mother Nature duly obliged with it arriving from the southeast for the first time this week. With the navigator’s race taking the boats through the narrow channel between the Bay of Tivat and the Bay of Kotur, the RC44s were set off on an America’s Cup-style reaching start – a first for this in a long time for the high performance one design monohulls. In this episode I get to grips with some of the jobs that must be completed as part of the new mainsail being raised. As always that ends up with me discussing a wide range of subjects from the deeply philosophical to the more mundane & pragmatic. During our impromptu Mid-Atlantic Time Out battens must be cut, batten boxes affixed to the sail and the best possible advantage taken from the light weather- but also I find joy in discovering there are dolphins around the boat, that difficult circumstances don't necessarily mean we need to be down and remind myself of the importance of never letting lost brownie crumbs go to waste! Who is the Mariner? My name is Chris Stanmore-Major better known as CSM. I have over 300,000Nm experience in racing, cruising & expedition sailing and have raced twice around the world. I sailed solo around the world in the Velux 5 Oceans Race in 2011 (in Falcon's sister ship) becoming the 182nd person ever to circumnavigate alone. This channel is for sailors of all skill levels and backgrounds. My passion is seamanship & self reliance and helping others realize their sailing dreams on their own boats - whatever size or shape of craft that may be. We continue our road tour of Andalucia and visit the spectacular Mosque- Cathedral of Cordoba for some history, religion and cultural studies and then the zoo to learn about the different habits of animals and how they are protected. We arrive in Cordoba, a beautiful city that reminds me of Prague where my Grandma is from. Then we head into the courtyard of the Mosque - Cathedral or Metzquita Catedral as is known in Spanish. The history stretches back for thousands of years, all in one place. There was once a Roman temple here and then the basilica church was built by the Visigoths in 572. After this a Mosque was built by Abd al- Rahman and the space was halved for the two religions. During the reconquista, the mosque was then extended into a Renaissance Cathedral in 1523. After the cultural visit, we took the children to the zoo which they were very excited about. Yewan saw his first elephant in his life and we thought the Babary apes were very similar to the behaviour in our family. The many columns are built from precious stones and the horseshoe arch is built on a wall that faces Mecca. Being exposed to new cultures makes us think about our own experiences growing up and how we live...both what is similar and what is different. It makes us think, and grow, and often change our perspective as we're introduced to new ideas. Another day in Paamiut brings new friends and more illuminating conversations. I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel the world. I make vlogs sharing my ups and downs, and my adventures in vans, on motorbikes, and on sailboats. - Who is Champ? Champ is my handsome 14-year-old Labrador, who travelled almost everywhere with me for his whole life. He loves chin scratches, fetching sticks, and scarfing down cheeseburgers and pizza. - What camera equipment do you use? I use a Panasonic FZ2500, a DJI Mavic Pro, a Rode video micro with Deadcat, a Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, as well as DIY tripods and lights. - What are your vehicles? I drove a 1992 Dodge Ram B350 camper van all over North America for about two years. Travelling by motorcycle made for some unique trips. I explored the Canadian Maritimes (and deserts and backroads all over the continent) on a 2002 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa dual sport bike, and also rode my 1999 Yamaha V-Star XVS1100 cruiser with a Champion Escort sidecar across my home country twice. From land to water travels: I currently live and work on a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 catamaran. - What are your plans with the boat? I will fix it up, run it on nothing but green electric power, and sail off into the sunset. Stay tuned for the growing build and the adventures to come! - How do you find all these cool places we see in the videos? To gain access to my complete research and the world traveller’s map I curate during my explorations off the beaten path, you need to hit me up on Patreon. Here are a few websites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/, https://www.campendium.com/, http://www.atlasobscura.com/, https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - How do you afford your lifestyle? I live and travel economical by using free camping and mooring, cooking my own meals, thoroughly researching products and how-to’s online, practicing a DIY approach, and being as efficient as possible with my resources. I've struggled financially for most of my life, and although I'm blessed with helpful friends and family as well as being able-bodied, white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to pursue your passion. So, I learned that you DO need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, and a traditional career but that it IS possible, worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes me happy. I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.
It feels like these projects are never going to end! As we finish one, the next project is staring us in the face! Herby is finishing the head Refit and finally is applying varnish to the wood. Maddie sands the entire deck in preparation for the primer that is to follow. Boat work is a lot of work, but putting in the time now will allow us to cruise safely and comfortably for years to come! This is part 3 of our diesel engine overhaul! Watch part 1 and 2 here: https://youtu.be/rE2KIdqclbI, https://youtu.be/lCUhmtRRr3U Over 3 years of full time cruising and a lot of motoring up in Alaska and BC has taken it’s toll on Ran’s engine. We also got a blow-by on one of the injectors in Panama 2017 so there are a few things to deal with. Johan will act as a heart surgeon and tackle the big and scary job of giving Ran’s iron heart a big overhaul! We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat Ran, a custom built Beason 40 in aluminium and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter in January 2016. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us. This week we share to check out of Cape Town, South Africa. It is a shlep to check out, but it can be made easy if simplified. Sailing Coco We continue our adventure out of L'aber Wrach around the 2 tidal races of Raz Du Sein & Le Four. We book the wrong marina and end up in the wrong place!!! We travel along the north coast of The Bay Of Biscay! Discover that the Canals Du Midi is currently too shallow and have to make alternative arrangements to transport the boat to The Mediterranean Sea. Halong Bay has been a favorite tourist destination for many years and we FINALLY got there. Tick it off the bucket list! We decided to spend 3 days and 2 nights on the water, a bit longer than most people and we are SO glad we did. The extra night gave us more time to enjoy more of the bay and places where there were fewer boats. We highly recommend a cruise on the bay though we hear that staying on Cat Ba Island is the way to go. We traveled with Pelican Cruises and found their mid-level cruise was perfect - not too expensive, but great service and food. This video is only Day 1! Don't miss our Day 2 and Day 3 videos! #china #chinalifestyle #chinalife #qingdao #halongbaytravel #halongbaycruise #halongbaytour #halongbayvietnam #vietnam NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? If you wish to support our video efforts, all we ask is that you SUBSCRIBE, give a THUMBS UP, SHARE our videos with your friends, AND COMMENT! WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET TO KNOW US MORE DEEPLY? The Bay of Tivat came good for the final day of the 44Cup Porto Montenegro with three races held and a most worthy winner in Igor Lah’s Team CEEREF. The Slovenian team led this first event of the 2019 44 Cup from the outset. Today neither they nor Vladimir Prosikhin’s Team Nika won a race, but showed impeccable consistency, both enjoying a trio of podium place results, elevating Team Nika from fourth to second overall. Building a cruising sailboat The title says it all! I weld up the stainless steel pieces for the anchor roller, fit the bowsprit to the boat and the engine room floor and engine bed get as far as being painted. The boat utilises a hard-chined, plywood construction and this design of boat is a proven, capable, ocean-going vessel. Boat building with plywood is a relatively easy and cost-effective way to produce a strong, monocoque-style boat hull. These videos aim to show the way in which I go about it. Thank you! Tony

Truck is riding sideways going down the road, what to look for and how to fix it. We show you how to check your rear tires to make sure they are straight, what to look for under the car if they aren't straight, and how we fixed ours. Tools: *Vodka And Lemon Juice, Project Fuel *Jack, Get Yours, Amazon link: https://amzn.to/2ONAdsK *Jack Review: https://youtu.be/IFjUON9VTt0 *Deep Impact Sockets: https://amzn.to/2VC4bDM *Torque Wrench: https://amzn.to/2UUMOAZ *Ratchet Straps: https://amzn.to/2UAKjof Our truck was lifted by Badlander and they used 6-inch lift block in the rear. One of the lift blocks slipped about a half inch, but at the tire, this was over an inch off from the other side of the truck. Driving the truck we didn't notice, we are really glad a guy told us, this could have lead to bigger issues when towing our RV the next day. I am not a fan of lift blocks, the can lead to extra stress on the U-Bolts and this in a worst case scenario could lead to your axle completely coming out from under the vehicle. This could lead to a major accident on the road and total out your ride.
