Good Morning! We haven't been up for 10 minutes but we've changed our sailing plans 20,000,000 times. Ok, maybe not that many. We did decided to go to Obrien's, which is the south end of the Exuma's Land and Sea Park. Beau preps the headsail and raises the mainsail, then we're off. Oona is always ready for a sail. On our way we eat a chia seed pudding snack Brandy made the night before. Once we get close we end up changing our plans a few more times because we couldn't find a beach that wasn't private. Oona loves to go to shore to explore and do her business. We eventually find an island just off Little Hall Pond Cay. The next day we get a visit from the park rangers. They tell us we can pay online. But in order to get service Beau hoisted the cell phone to the top of the mast. It got stuck, so Brandy had to go up next. After we paid the park fee, we took off exploring. First we hit up Johnny Deep's private beach. Then we free dove the sunken airplane. Last we snorkeled the Aquarium and saw a bunch of coral and sea life. The Aquarium is a busy tourist spot but we were able to hang out long enough the get the place for our selves. Qingdao is not only our home but a gorgeous city on the Yellow Sea at the foot of multiple mountain ranges. It is a paradise for an outdoor enthusiast! The city has endless roads and pathways for both running and cycling. Today's video highlights both the natural and the human obstacles that we encountered on our cycle from sea level over one of the passes of Laoshan, one of our favorite local mountains. Most of the roads in Qingdao are constantly groomed and perfect for cycling, but the village approach to the peak is an exception; the city has been working on this 3-4 mile stretch for almost a year now. While some of it has been restored, you will see we encountered many rough surfaces for road bikes! And, the result was a split tire and a flat on two different bikes. But, it was still worth it! At least there is evidence of ongoing road construction and an attempt to restore the road surface which will help us out when we hit the 14-17% grades. Right now, it's hard to gain traction. This is one of our favorite rides as it takes us through the local villages and growing areas. Right now the China Berry trees are blooming and the cherries are bright red and ready to be eaten straight from the tree. Every street was lined with cherry baskets and locals trying to sell their freshly picked fruit. If only we had a way to carry cherries in our cycling jersey pockets! Segeln und Leben an Bord: Wir haben über 2 Jahre zu fünft auf unserem 39 ft. Segelboot gelebt - das klingt nicht nur eng, war es auch. Wir haben im Laufe der Zeit viele Herausforderungen gemeistert und Dinge einfach zum Funktionieren gebracht. Sowohl was den Platz, die Ausrüstung und auch die Segeltouren selbst angeht. Wir berichten viel über diese Herausforderungen, wie man etwas macht oder wie man bestimmte technische Probleme löst. Häufig ist die Herangehensweise pragmatisch. Eine Sache haben wir allerdings einfach nicht gelöst bekommen. Und das ist der Rollentausch. Jeder an Bord hatte seine eingespielten Funktionen und Aufgaben. Und diese Aufgaben wollten wir ab und zu durch tauschen. Damit nicht Anett immer nur in der Küche steht, sondern auch mal zum Segeln kommt. Trotz der vielen abwechslungsreichen Aktivitäten an Land hat das Murmeltier an Bord täglich gegrüßt und das kann sich mit der Zeit zu einem Problem entwickeln. This week we leave Croatia after sailing the Croatian Islands for 1 month. It's sad to leave as we loved our time in Croatia but look forward to sailing Montenegro. We are given advice when checking out of Gruz Harbour Dubrovnik and have no troubles exiting Croatia. We have low winds as we head South towards Montenegro and use the time to complete some domestic duties. Once we reach the Southern most point of Croatia we finally get the winds we are looking for and set sail towards Kotor. The scenery is spectacular and we are speechless as Kawai is dwarfed by the huge mountains. We had heard about the Fjords of Montenegro and they don't disappoint. We also enjoy watching the mega yachts pass by as they head to the Port of Montenegro in Tivet. When sailing into the bay of Kotor we are greeted with multiple rainbows over the mountains and passing cruise ships. The anchorage is even better than expected and Kawai enjoys a week of calm waters, amazing views and few boats. Trace completes the check in process in Kotor with few problems and we receive a cruising permit for 3 months (vignette). Cruise ships come and go and we love the buzz of Kotor. Kotor is a hiking hotspot and we end the week with a hike up Vmac Ridge. We explore a military post and have spectacular views over Tivet and the Port of Montenegro to the West and 'The Bay of Kotor' to the East. We plan to explore much more of Montenegro and we hope you enjoy our videos as we sail Montenegro. Thanks for watching. From a long day that finally yielded just one race, Quantum Racing emerged with an increased lead at the top of the leaderboard of the Menorca 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week. The 2018 defending circuit champions, who won the 2016 TP52 World Championship title on these same Balearic waters, profited on the second upwind to pass early leaders, Harm Müller-Spreer’s Platoon, and so scored their second race win in a row. While the new line up on Quantum Racing are gelling nicely and have sailed a strong 2,1,1 from the last three races of the regatta, their perennial rivals Azzurra – who lead after the first day – had another disappointing day. They fouled Alegre and had to take a penalty, which dropped them to 11th. A recovery to seventh only partially helps morale, but the Azzurra – who won here last time the circuit visited in 2017 – need to get back to regular top results. The winds took a long time to fill out on to the race arena. Race officer Maria Torrijo chose to hold the fleet ashore until mid afternoon. But it was only on the fourth attempt – after two general recalls and an AP’d start – that the race finally got away in eight to 10kts of breeze and flat water. Platoon started off the pin end of the line and had Quantum Racing in their pockets off the line. The German team, training and race partners to Quantum – with whom they share data, briefings and debriefs – led around the course until the second beat. They moved left and let Quantum and Provezza profit. Through the finish, Quantum scored the victory with Platoon second and Ergin Imre’s Provezza third. The Turkish-flagged team now lie second going into the final day, three points behind Doug DeVos’s crew, which has Ed Baird on the helm through this season. Azzurra dropped to fourth overall. It was the party of the year! Located at The Boat Works, in the Marine Precinct of the Gold Coast, the Galeon 460 Fly, Galeon 510 Skydeck, and the Ocean Alexander 88 Sky were officially launched over a spectacular event that included a fake high jacking of Gold Coast City Mayor Tom Tate, a rescue by Russel Ingall, former Bathurst V8 Supercar champion aka James Bond, in an Aston Martin, after Showtime FMX motorbike riders jumped over the Galeon 460 Fly and finished with fireworks. A stellar line up of Aston Martin and McLaren vehicles, Calleija Jewellery, complimented by copious amounts of Moet Ice and tunes from Why Elle Duo - the night was a memorable one for our guests.

On the one hand, it was a miserable day of intermittent rain, chilly wind and an overcast sky like a scene from the North Sea in February. On the other, despite the fickle conditions, the squalls, the holes in the wind, maestro Principal Race Officer Stuart Childerley defied the forecast - just as he did yesterday - and succeeded in holding the full schedule of five races, in a variety of wind conditions enabling much good foiling. It also caused considerable re-arrangement of the leaderboard.

Well, we met 19 year old Felix from Germany in Martinique, when we were replacing our standing rigging. Felix had hitchhiked all the way from his home in Germany to Gibraltar and across the Atlantic Ocean, and now he was looking for a new boat to join. We have never previously taken hitchhikers on board Tengah, but we have pretty good experience with letting people join our boat, so we decided to invite Felix along. Felix has no phone, no computer and no camera (due to some unfortunate circumstances earlier in his trip), but he is keen on taking pictures and making videos. So we lent him our equipment, and now he made this awesome video about his first two weeks with us (yup, Felix is faster at editing than we are 🙈). We really like this video and hope you do too 🤗. The wind in this area is always on and off and it’s a never ending game of spotting a little wind ripple and pulling all sails out only for the wind to die right in the moment that you are all set to sail. Simon is being a patient crew, though, and we try our best to sail whenever we can. Our boat wasn’t ready for full-time cruising when we bought her. This was perfectly fine; we’d rather add necessary items ourselves and learn them inside and out through the process, than pay for systems already in place that may not be exactly what we want, or are old and need to replacing anyway. We had completed a bunch of projects in Wisconsin before leaving on our trip down the river (like upgrading our anchoring system), but a few big projects still needed to be done before we could take off to more remote, sunnier locales. Project #1: Install an arch/bimini combo to provide shade for the cockpit, a place to mount solar panels and davits to hang our dinghy. Project #2: Our electrical system needed an upgrade. Our battery bank was old and small. We wanted to double our bank from two to four, install a battery monitor, solar charge controllers, and clean up/rewire anything already in place that might be a potential fire hazard, or was just a bit sketchy. The question was this: DIY or hire a contractor? The electrical project was a massive undertaking, something neither of us knew much about, so we’d first have to invest a lot of time hitting the books, trying to understand the basics of electrical wiring and energy storage. Time is money, and we contemplated hiring someone, as it might’ve made more sense if we spent that time working our “real” jobs to pay it off instead. In the end, we decided to DIY the electrical project, since all the skills we’d acquire would be useful for any other electrical project/troubleshooting we’d be doing in the future if WE knew our own boat’s electrical system from the ground up. As for the arch/bimini, because we wanted a custom look that required a skilled tradesman (as well as a bunch of machinery we didn’t own or have access to) we felt it made sense to hire a professional, or so we thought… Here’s how our decisions played out… Pop the corn and settle in for this 20-minuter!
