Following Simon Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/finding_simon/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/findingsimon Website: http://simonstiles.com/ Asking Simon - Who are you? I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel the world. I make vlogs sharing my ups and downs, and my adventures in vans, on motorbikes, and on sailboats. - Who is Champ? Champ is my handsome 14-year-old Labrador, who travelled almost everywhere with me for his whole life. He loves chin scratches, fetching sticks, and scarfing down cheeseburgers and pizza. - What camera equipment do you use? I use a Panasonic FZ2500, a DJI Mavic Pro, a Rode video micro with Deadcat, a Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, as well as DIY tripods and lights. - What are your vehicles? I drove a 1992 Dodge Ram B350 camper van all over North America for about two years. Travelling by motorcycle made for some unique trips. I explored the Canadian Maritimes (and deserts and backroads all over the continent) on a 2002 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa dual sport bike, and also rode my 1999 Yamaha V-Star XVS1100 cruiser with a Champion Escort sidecar across my home country twice. From land to water travels: I currently live and work on a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 catamaran. - What are your plans with the boat? I will fix it up, run it on nothing but green electric power, and sail off into the sunset. Stay tuned for the growing build and the adventures to come! - How do you find all these cool places we see in the videos? To gain access to my complete research and the world traveller’s map I curate during my explorations off the beaten path, you need to hit me up on Patreon. Here are a few websites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/, https://www.campendium.com/, http://www.atlasobscura.com/, https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - How do you afford your lifestyle? I live and travel economical by using free camping and mooring, cooking my own meals, thoroughly researching products and how-to’s online, practicing a DIY approach, and being as efficient as possible with my resources. I've struggled financially for most of my life, and although I'm blessed with helpful friends and family as well as being able-bodied, white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to pursue your passion. So, I learned that you DO need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, and a traditional career but that it IS possible, worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes me happy. I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.
When a sailor crosses the equator they must give an offering to King Neptune. But what do you give, and what should you wear? As true Brits we dressed up for the occasion and sent a message from THE QUEEN. In this episode we transform from pollywogs to shellbacks! We take you to Pulau Asu, one of our top destinations in the western islands of Sumatra, where we spend a few days with Mama Silvi in her family-run beach home. She was there when both the tsunami and then more earthquakes hit the island in 2004/5 with some interesting geological results. As you'll see from the footage this is a rather special place. Life doesn't get much simpler and gentler than right here. Peace and fair winds! Slowly Chipping away at our to-do list of jobs before we leave the marina and head off to explore Malta at the end of the month, then onto Italy! Had the diver come to check the bottom of the boat for any issues as well as scrape the thick layer of stuff that has been growing for the past year that it has spent sitting in the water. Just waiting on the electrician out to check the electronics/navigation as well as the mechanic to service the engines and generator and we can take this baby out for a joyride! -----Instagram----- @sailing_sunday @brittnimoffatt @ryanweepers @jacksontheshepherdx -----Website----- www.svsunday.com -----Music----- Track: Andromedik - With Me [NCS Release] Music provided by NoCopyrightSounds. Nikki's on the hunt for the best pocket sized travel adventure camera. Her favorite has been the sony rx100v but the new rx0ii comes loaded in a tiny package. We put it through a series of tests and figured we should share our thoughts with anyone else on the hunt for a good compact travel camera. MORE DEETS and IMAGES on our BLOG post: https://gonewiththewynns.com/travel-camera-2019 SEE OUR TOP CAMERA GEAR 📷 🎥 http://bit.ly/17-cameras Join us in French Polynesia as we compare the Sony rx100v vs the Sony rx0ii. If you want to see how the little RX0ii compares to the GoPro Hero 7 underwater let us know in the comments. If we get enough requests we'll put on the swimsuits and hit the water! *I gotta tell you this video is not sponsored. We bought the rx100v a couple years ago (just like anyone else) and it's a great pocket-size point and shoot camera. Sony loaned us the rx0ii to test. We are not required to make any videos, we're simply sharing our personal review. Hope you find our travel comparison helpful, if so let us know your thoughts in the comments below.* Shared with LOVE 💕 from all of us here aboard s/v Curiosity, - Jason, Nikki, Cleo and Singa 😻 Music: IKSON https://soundcloud.com/ikson https://www.patreon.com/ikson https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyB3YiRU9OXJgIkRi-Z3wEA SUPPORT OUR VIDS 🙏 http://bit.ly/patreon-wynn GET SOCIAL with us 📱 http://bit.ly/gwtw-social ❗❗ You can always find exclusive photos, experiential tips, honest opinions & links to our favorite gear on our website: http://bit.ly/gwtw-home ❗❗ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Enjoy our vids? Ride along as we take a very shallow route into the inner anchorage at Double Breasted Cays, Abacos, Bahamas. Jeanneau is excited to announce the release of the SunFast 3300! The newest addition to the extremely successful SunFast line, the 3300 is the brain child of Guillaume Verdier and Daniel Andrieu, whose collaboration guarantees high performance and success under a variety of rating rules. Taking advantage of Jeanneau’s long history of infusion manufacturing, every part of the 3300 is infusion molded, dramatically reducing the all-up weight of the boat while increasing stiffness. Combining the light hull with twin rudders, carbon rig, generous sail plan, and straight keel, the 3300 will excel as an offshore racer. Sailing fully crewed, double, or single handed, the newest Sun Fast is a truly exhilarating boat, not to be missed. __ Since 1956, Jeanneau has been dedicated building quality boats for those of us who share a passion for being on the water. Today, Jeanneau is a global leader in yacht production — Big boats, small boats, power and sail. Wherever there is water, you will find people enjoying their Jeanneaus. Our channel “The World of Jeanneau” offers just a taste of the many, many experiences to be had worldwide. Hang on! The old website is on the hard for antifoul and new bottom paint…stand by! In the meantime, enjoy a view looking aft as this poor little dinghy also hangs on. This was from a trip we made northward across the San Pedro Channel. What a fun sail that was…we made a max of 8.9 knots that day! **NOW SOLD** Oscar is an immaculate Lagoon 450 SporTop that is now listed exclusively for sale with team YOTI Sydney. https://www.yoti.com.au/listing/lagoon-450-sportop-oscar The SporTop version of the 450 has an offset, safe helm position, designed to reduce separation of crew and skipper. With the same sail area as the flybridge version, but lower boom, putting the mainsail away is simple. Oscar was also ordered with the optional composite Bimini and is fitted with 2 solar panels and clears. Oscar is the owner's layout, with the master stateroom extending the entire length of the starboard hull and two further spacious double cabins in the port hull both with an ensuite. Her interior is a beautiful matt Alpi Teak with Oak flooring. The flooring in the hulls and steps are fitted with additional custom quality carpets. Her saloon is airy and light, with the trademark excellent all round visibility that Lagoons are so well known for. A comfortable and large L shaped settee with table is to starboard and the navigation station with remote joystick for indoor steering is to port. The U- shaped galley with Corian tops has lots of counter space and due to the revised orientation, easier access to the cockpit. The helm station is set up to control the whole boat. Visibility from the helm is great with all the electric primary, manoeuvring and mainsheet winches all within reach. At the helm is B & G touchscreen GPS with AIS receiver. Oscar is powered by twin 57 hp Yanmar diesels that will give her a cruising speed of around 7.5 knots. The Swift RIB with a 15 hp Yamaha outboard is stored on large davits with a dedicated manual winch for ease of retrieval. This Lagoon 450 SporTop is an absolute turnkey, Bluewater cruising catamaran and awaiting her next adventure. For more information please contact Tim Vine on 0412 38 25 38.

Just a few nautical miles away from Mindelo is a hidden gem of a cove. Protected from the constant trade winds which can get on your nerves back in Mindelo Bay. SO here we are to escape the wind and the city anchored in the wild west of Cape Verde. We are absolutely alone and go to shore to climb the mountains above us. We are wearing our cool Aleader water shoes. They are awesome! They help us go from sailboat to summit. Back down we get down to some fishing and meet a diver in the deep hunting Langostas. Nat strikes a deal and later we got lobsters grilling in our frying pan. Nothing last forever, the wind shifts and Galopin goes drifting out to sea! Good thing we're aboard. Aleader Watershoes or water shoes are the best shoes ever for land & water. That's just my opinion. But I mean it! Order them here with a discount. Installing our NEW Bow Roller and Windlass. https://www.sailingnandji.com/ In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we finish off the upgrades to the bow. When we first arrived to the boatyard and were in destruction mode, we ripped up the front deck and removed all the rot and the old useless windlass. We have since re-laid the deck and fibreglassed up a solid bow ready for the new additions. I designed a new bow roller for Nandji and we install this piece of engineering genius! I designed and adjusted the pulpit hand railing and we install our new anchor windlass. Our bow is covered in shiny new stainless steel and looks amazing with the new paint job underneath!! Thank you to everyone who has watched our videos and contributed to our new engine. It is all because of you legends we have been able to install this brand new engine and re-power Nandji. With all this boat work being complete our vessel is becoming indestructible as we get her ready for our next big trip across the Indian Ocean. With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We have just sailed 2000nm through Indonesia and have arrived to the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the next big adventure. Currently on the hard stand, we are re-powering and completing a major refit! We departed Australia in July 2017 and have since explored some amazing countries, met some beautiful people and experienced different cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! Indian Ocean here we come!! We've been without a working watermaker for just about a year now....so it's time to get it repaired! Matt takes apart our HRO Seafari watermaker and replaces all the seals since we assume this is what had kept it from working just before our Atlantic crossing. After a little trouble with getting the parts shipped out to the Azores, it only takes one afternoon of work to get things ship shape again. In our attempt to keep the boat work moving along, we're stuck when bad weather brings days of torrential rain. But luckily for us, new friends Herbbie and Maddie (the Rigging Doctors) have a car and they swing by to take us out to lunch. We stop at the local Quintas Dos Acores and enjoy some burgers and ice cream sourced locally from all the cows on the island. When things clear up we're able to get back to work, focusing on the vinyl for our dodger. After tracing a template and cutting our Strataglass, we spend days trying to get just the right curve as it bends around the side of the boat. There are a few days of attaching it to the zippers, finding it's not right, and then taking it apart and doing it again. But eventually we get all the pieces in place and now the next step is to work on the canvas which will cover our zippers on the top and bottom. Much love from The Azores! Crossing from Long Island to Manhattan is a stressful transit - no wonder they call it HELL'S GATE! You have to time your crossing to coincide with slack tide or you simply can't make it - at least not in a sailboat. But, the experience is a truly special one. Like sailing into Sydney Harbor and passing the Opera House, this is one sailing experience that is truly unforgettable. Throw in a final pass by the Statue of Liberty and a couple nights in the North Cove IGY Marina, and wow, it's quite an amazing experience (and video)! POSTING DAILY ON SOCIAL: https://www.the-sailing-family.com https://www.instagram.com/the_sailing_family/ https://www.facebook.com/the-sailing-family-voyage/ ----------------- ABOUT US: We are a family of five sailing around the world on a performance catamaran named "Archer" and sharing our adventures in family-friendly episodes on YouTube! OUR ROUTE: We departed the Boston/Cape Cod area of the United States and sailed down to the Caribbean and through the Panama Canal. We have dealt with massive repairs in the South Pacific, the Coronavirus lock down in New Zealand, a Category 5 Cyclone in Fiji, and now we are cruising in Australia. OUR PAST: You may remember us as "SV Honeymoon?" Ten years ago ("before kids"), we sailed a Lagoon 380 named Honeymoon halfway around the world to Sydney, Australia. Along the way we shared our experiences via YouTube and, by happenstance, created one of the very first "sailing channels." We also realized what an incredible experience we were having and that someday we wanted to do it again, only this time with kids. FAQ: More questions? !According to Doha Metro, the Metro and Metrolink is closed May 30th and reopens on June 4th! When Qatar Rail opened the Doha Metro, at the same time the free MetroLink was opened to the public. MetroLink is an extensive system of bus routes, that run from many of the Doha Metro stations through the neighbourhoods in the vicinity of those stations. Ultimate Freggle jumped on the free Metrolink bus to travel on the Doha Metro and see how well it worked. Have you ever actually deployed a life raft and seen what’s inside or lack of what’s inside?!? Does your significant other know how to use a signal flare? And what can you do to keep sane while floating out at sea? Join Ryan and Nicole and find out… Two Afloat style. ;) NOTE: In the video we mention the STCW-95 course but we forgot to mention the US Sailing Safety At Sea class, another excellent option if you're preparing to head offshore. https://www.ussailing.org/education/adult/safety-at-sea-courses/ This episode is made possible by people like you! https://www.patreon.com/twoafloat TWO AFLOAT Facebook https://www.facebook.com/TwoAfloat Twitter https://twitter.com/TwoAfloat Instagram https://www.instagram.com/twoafloat Ryan's interview on This Ocean Life podcast Part 1: http://www.thisoceanlife.tv/2018/11/episode-30-ryan-levinson/?fbclid=IwAR2qGq4e3SO898CDGvtQFm-FhKtPkkZJzIgXPWjOaYv_zBJ7lz2puRulhdw Ryan and Nicole's interview on This Ocean Life podcast Part 2: http://www.thisoceanlife.tv/…/episode-74-ryan-levinson-pt-2/ Ryan's interview on The Kyle Thiermann Show podcast: http://www.kyle.surf/podcast/ Kiapa Nui’s Ditch Kit: paddle jacket, wide brim hat, hat (baseball cap), 2x rolls toilet paper, compressed gas signal horn, sponge, garmin GPS, 3x spoons, 2x SOLAS parachute signal rocket, 2x SOLAS hand held flare, signal mirror, 2x whistle, SOLAS smoke “flare”, Measuring Cup, 3x 1L water bottles, Iridium external antenna and dock, signal “blanket”, sunscreen, 2x chapstick, deck of playing cards, 2x strobe lights, dye pack, Swiss Army Knife, 2x Lithium 123 battery, 2x Lithium AA battery, partial roll of gorilla tape, rigging knife, nylon chord (parachute line), personal documentation, nylon chord handline, assorted fishing line, hooks, squid skirts, cedar plug, swivels, waterproof notepad, sharpie, 6x chem light sticks, whistle/light, laser flare, garmin GPS, sat phone battery, SAM Splint, oral hydration salts, 1 pack birth control pills, Bonine, Imodium AD, Imitrex, Tylenol, nitrile gloves, quick-clot combat gauze, small ziplock bags, roll of gauze, elastic bandage roll, medical tape, 4X4 gauze pads (non-sterile), 4X4 pads (sterile), Meclizine tabs (same as Bonine), triangle bandage, assorted bandaids, body glide (anti-cafe), barf bags, wet-wipes (moist toilet wipes), EPIRB SPECIAL THANKS: B&G (CHARTPLOTTER AND INSTRUMENTS) https://bandg.com/us/ SOLAR STIK http://www.solarstik.com/ SPINLOCK https://www.spinlock.co.uk/en-us HIGHFIELD BOATS USA http://www.highfieldboats.com/importers/usa/ Cabrinha Kitesurfing https://www.cabrinhakites.com/ Adventure Sports https://adventuresportsusa.com/ Hinano Clothing http://hinanolife.com Kiapa Nui is a 2004 Looping 48 catamaran Designed by Patrick Luscher

Se me ha ocurrido hablar del mal tiempo y dedicarle unos minutos a esta realidad de la que podemos obtener muchas lecciones positivas.
