Jana and Mick are not your typical semi-retired Australian offshore sailors. Surviving a head on crash in the outback at 100 km/hr at a young age, made them think differently about turning their sailing dreams into reality sooner. They worked and saved hard for the next 2 years and I catch up with them onboard their dream yacht in Florida, waiting to sail to the Bahamas. Their yacht search led to a surgeon selling his 1986 Morgan 43 for $80k. They offered $58k and it was theirs. After lots of maintenance, upgrades, groundings, engine headaches and weeks of toil they are on the eve of departure. With a plan to sail the Bahamas for a few months, then fly home to Australia to save more money for next legs to the Caribbean and onto the Pacific, its a great story of whats possible with determination.We also discuss boat systems and handling and share some handy tips. My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners. The Nordic Tugs 42 design is one of the most popular versions of this very capable trawler tug. Nordic Quest, hull 117, is well into the production run and she benefits from many of the improvements developed by her predecessor sister ships. She is a two stateroom and two head boat. Nordic Quest is operated from the raised pilothouse, so you are up high and forward in the boat with a commanding view. There are opening doors port and starboard for convenient access to outdoors. The visibility is excellent in all directions. Smart Plug shore power connections are just outside the starboard pilothouse door. Behind the comfortable Llebroc helm chair is a bench seat area for guests and crew to take in the surroundings making it easy for the family to be involved with underway activities. The navigation display panels are installed overhead and forward and there are two large Furuno displays. The helm dash area has a clever tilt up access panel for inspection and servicing wires and the steering system. The engine control is single lever and you have a bow thruster joystick. Let’s look back on a successful weekend for seven of the #WorldsBest sailing clubs who made their way to the final. But even more important now is the strength of the sailing community to distribute the vision of the One Ocean Foundation to take care of the world’s oceans we are all depending on. La regata Málaga Sailing Cup se celebró entre el 5 y el 7 de abril en las instalaciones del Real Club Mediterráneo de Málaga. Organizada por Eventos Náuticos Costa del Sol.

Lähdimme siis liikkeelle Göteborgista (1) Trollhättan kanavaa pitkin kohti Vänern järveä ja yövyimme ensimmäisen yön Sikhallin (2) venesatamassa joka oli luonnollisesti kiinni vielä. WC oli sentäs auki. Siitä matka jatkui Vänernin läpi kohti Sjötorppia (3) josta Göta -kanava alkaa. Meillä oli loppujen lopuksi sitten Express lippu jolla pääsi kolmessa päivässä kavanav läpi. Jouduimme tosin odottelemaan kaksi päivää kanavaan pääsyä. Kanavalle pääsyn jälkeen ensimmäinen pysähdys oli Vätternin itärannalla Motalassa (4). Siellä olikin Hotelli/Ravintola jossa söimmekin aamiaisen ennen kanavalle lähtöä. Tullessamme satamaan ravintola oli jo menossa kiinni... Matka jatkui eteenpäin Göta -kanavassa kohti Norsholmia (5). Kanavan varrella saimmekin ensimmäisen ravintola illallisen, kunnon pihviä :) . Viimeinen etappi kanavalla alkoi perjantaina aamuna Sallasta kotoisen olevan Sakarin kanssa. Jokaisella kolmella etapilla oli siis henkilökohtainen sulkujen ja siltojen hoitaja. Ajeli autolla aina availemaan kun saavuimme paikalle. Göta -kanava päättyy Mem nimiseen kylään josta Itämeri alkaa. Jatkoimme samantien matkaa kohti Kökaria (6), etelä Ahvenenmaata. Olimme perillä lauantai iltana myöhään ja saimme tankattua dieseliä. Paikka oli muuten kiinni mutta pääsimme suihkuun ja vessaan. Sunnuntai aamuna klo 05 lähdimme eteenpäin kohti pohjoista ja saavuimme maanantaina klo 15 aikoihin kotisatamaan. ;elkoinen kokemus varmaan kaikille. Noin 625 nm koko matka kartalta laskettuna.
