One day while in Virgin Gorda in the BVI's. I was enjoying life, going to the beach, kiteboarding, and having fun from my sailboat. Then I watch an exceedingly wealthy man do everything I'd done, except..... less. And it dawned on me. "This guy is spending more than I make in a year, each week, and he's not having half as much fun as I am(he didn't smile much). So it inspired me to look at both our boat based lifestyle and make a comparison, albeit with a huge amount of bias towards my budget based lifestyle. But what I came away with was a whole new appreciation for my life. And the ultimate realization that my youth was my greatest asset, and something that no amount of money can buy. So for that, I am truly fortunate. Even as I eat ramen noodle for dinner 4x per week. I am truly fortunate. And would not trade my place with any old rich man, for what I have here and now! It's my hope that this video inspires others to get out and sail or adventure while they still can. Or for those already on the water, to have a new found appreciation for what they have. Is this some of the best footage we have made? As always we tell it how it is and in Fethiye and Marmaris we were literally bobbing around in raw sewage just yards from the swimming beaches. We are paying 400TL to be pumped out and yet we have never in 4 years seen a commercial vessel get pumped out. But we have seen a lot empty their tanks very close to us in secluded bays. Or just outside them.... Tersan island becomes an anchorage that untenable. We and two other boat have to do a quick exit to better holding. Then there is the best lightning show ever and and wild boar wandering along the beach... What a cracking episode if we say so ourselves! Let us know what you think in the comments. When you first start out, it’s pretty intimidating to kick your fins up, point your head down, and to just keep going deeper and deeper, as you feel the water getting colder, the increasing pressure squeezing on your chest, and the light from above slowly fading into a dim twilight. But once you overcome your fear the reward is the sensation of absolute freedom, of weightless flight through a strange world with zero equipment. We’ve practiced freediving for years and the deepest that we’ve ever gone was 100 feet, so about the height of a ten story building. But a couple hundred years ago some of the best free divers in the world lived on the Greek island of Symi. Those divers could go as deep as 260 feet and could stay down for up to 4 minutes! But this was a very dangerous activity, and for generations divers from Symi swam to the ocean floor and risked their lives, all in pursuit of a treasure that made their small and arid island one of the wealthiest places in the entire region. Now last week we finally sailed away from Turkey after having spent 6 months exploring that country. And with Symi being the first stop on our journey across the Mediterranean, we wanted to figure out just what treasure attracted generations of divers to risk their lives combing the sea floor. We purchased the 220V high flow version, renowned for its efficiency and robustness. The Rainman water maker is a portable desalination system that converts seawater into fresh, drinkable water using reverse osmosis. This model can produce up to 140 liters (37 gallons) of water per hour, making it perfect for long-term, off-grid living. 🌍 Embracing Off-Grid Living: With our new water maker installed, we embrace the possibilities of off-grid living. Build progress on boats 1, 2 & 3 in the Cure Marine workshop is moving along at a fast pace. https://curemarine.com.au/ Boat 1 is in high build and being prepped for final primer. It will progress to final paint soon. The superstructure build is complete, with all internal walls and major structural elements in place. Cabinetry fit-out is well underway on the interior panels. Boat 2 hulls are completed, the superstructure has been assembled on-mould, de-moulded and placed into its cradles. The bulkheads, cabin roof and side decks are about to be attached, with all superstructure in progress. 30% of the superstructure of boat 3 is already complete. The port topside has been infused, with the 2nd topside infusion happening next. Prep for the bridgedeck infusion will commence next.
