► On the second-hand market for boats under 40 feet, the Lagoon 380 has become the must-have. Admittedly, this bestseller, which saw more than 900 examples built, has aged pretty well and offers remarkable comfort for its size... but for budgets just over €100,000, there are other models to consider, such as the Athena 38 by Fountaine Pajot, which offers two advantages: it is more affordable than the Lagoon and is faster under sail! ► Launched at the La Rochelle boat show in September 1994, the Athena 38 was positioned between the Tobago 35 and the Venezia 42. All the models in this second generation, designed by Joubert/Nivelt, are characterized by their blunt bows, very rounded shapes on the inside (the miracle that polyester GRP must have been for naval architects long familiar with wood, steel, aluminum, and chined bilges!) and finally the overhanging coachroof cap, which is the one feature that would be retained and still remains today. ► Lightweight and well-canvased, the Athena 38 is lively and fun to sail from the single helm station – positioned on the aft face of the coachroof, on the starboard side. Obviously, the relatively short length and skeg keels reduced do it no favors when close-hauled in bigger seas, but in all other conditions, this little catamaran will surprise more than one helmsman with its performance - which can be boosted by decent sails and the installation of folding propellers. ► The model Graham presents to us is from 2001 and is a three-cabin version - the entire starboard hull is dedicated to the owner. The nacelle offers a rounded saloon that can easily accommodate six people, a chart table/desk, and a U-shaped galley. Logically, there is only one bathroom per hull. On the starboard side, Graham has a fully equipped workshop. Admittedly, the comfort is somewhat rustic, the sill at the entrance to the nacelle is a higher than we see today, the sugarscoops are not particularly wide and the paneling is a little worn in places... but for a nearly 25-year-old multihull purchased for €115,000, the Athena 38 still has a lot to offer and, above all, can take you anywhere: An excellent base for refit! ► Technical specifications: Builder: Fountaine Pajot Architect: Joubert/Nivelt Interior design: Olivier Flahault Length: 38’ (11.6 m) Beam: 20’8” (6.3 m) Draft: 3’1” (0.95 m) Air draft: 59’ (17.85 m) Light displacement: 12,125 lbs (5.5 t) Sail area: 947 sq ft (88 m²) Motors: 2 x 20 HP Fuel: 180 l Water: 360 l Second-hand price: from €100,000 ex-tax ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! In this episode, we learn firsthand why it's essential to listen to a local's "request", cycle around Huahine Nui, move the boat to a new spot, and bid farewell to Everett before heading to what many say is the best anchorage in the Societies—the southern tip of Huahine. NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? If you wish to support our video efforts, all we ask is that you SUBSCRIBE, give a THUMBS UP, SHARE our videos with your friends, AND COMMENT! WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET TO KNOW US MORE DEEPLY? Reading the Telltales on Your Sails - https://www.practical-sailor.com/sails-rigging-deckgear/reading-the-telltales-on-your-sails If your headsail never seems to set quite right — the top luffs first, the foot is strapped tight, the boat won’t quite point, or everything just feels a little “off” — the issue isn’t your sail. It’s your sheeting geometry. In this Practical Sailor video, we break down why adjustable jib and genoa tracks are one of the most effective performance upgrades you can make to any cruising sailboat. We look at how jib car tracks actually work, why they make such a dramatic difference to sail shape, twist control, pointing ability, and comfort, and how they compare to fixed toe-rail sheeting or improvised “floating” leads. We’ll also cover real-world hardware costs, track options, installation considerations, and what to expect if you’re retrofitting a boat that never had proper tracks in the first place. Whether you sail a coastal cruiser or a performance-oriented masthead rig, adjustable leads let you finally use the full shape your sailmaker built into your headsail — increasing efficiency in light air, improving control in heavy air, and reducing flogging, heeling, and crew effort across the entire wind range. Keywords: jib tracks, genoa tracks, jib cars, sail trim, headsail twist, toe-rail sheeting, sail control systems, Practical Sailor, cruising upgrades, sailing performance, genoa lead angle, how to trim a jib, sailboat retrofits, cruising sailboat upgrades, headsail efficiency, upwind performance. After last week’s episode, where you saw us sailing through a sudden squall in the South China Sea, we finally arrived at Tarempa, the capital of the Anambas Islands, Indonesia, aboard our sailboat SV Reeva. One of the most common questions we receive as a liveaboard sailing family is: How do sailboats check into another country? In this episode, we explain how to enter Indonesia by sailboat, covering the full Indonesia immigration process for yachts, especially in a remote cruising destination like Anambas Islands. To make the international boat clearance smooth, we took the help of a local Indonesia sailing agent. In Indonesia, the customs and immigration clearance for sailboats happens onboard. Government officials visit the yacht, including Port Control / Harbour Master (who checks boat registration and safety documents), the Health Inspector, Customs, and Immigration officials. Once all boat papers and passports are verified, our passports are taken ashore and returned with official Indonesian entry stamps. With clearance complete, we are legally checked into Indonesia and ready to continue our sailing adventure in Southeast Asia. The Anambas Islands are one of Indonesia’s hidden sailing paradises, known for crystal-clear waters, untouched coral reefs, quiet anchorages, and pristine island life. This episode marks the true beginning of our Indonesia sailing journey. Join us as we share the real side of boat life, cross-border sailing, and life on a sailboat, as we continue exploring Indonesia aboard SV Reeva. 👉 Follow our journey: 📸 Instagram: @the_reeva_project 📘 Facebook: The Reeva Project -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- पिछले हफ्ते के एपिसोड में आपने देखा था कि कैसे हम एक तेज़ स्क्वॉल से गुज़रते हुए आगे बढ़े, और अब हम पहुँच चुके हैं तेरेंपा, जो अनाम्बास आइलैंड्स, इंडोनेशिया की राजधानी है। ⛵🌊 Sailing into Indonesia Anambas Islands Indonesia Terempa Anambas Sailboat immigration process How to check into Indonesia by boat South China Sea sailing Liveaboard sailing couple Sailing vlog India The Reeva Project SV Reeva #thereevaproject #sailingindonesia #anambasislands #boatlife #liveaboardlife #indiansailors #svreeva #southchinasea #indiansailingfamily #CruisingLife #thereevaproject #lifeatsea

In a previous video, Katia showed you the spectacular Italian Sea Group shipyard — arguably the most visually impressive yacht-building facility in the world. In this episode, David returns to spotlight a specific yacht currently in build: Hull #4 of the S-Force 55 series, for sale with Northrop & Johnson. This series already includes yachts such as Geko, Silver Star and Raja 2, two of which have hugely successful charter records — and when you see the layout, it is easy to understand why. This video uses both on-site footage and detailed renderings to show you exactly what the completed yacht will look like, bringing the hull and superstructure to life. LAYOUT & FEATURES (what we explore in the video) The S-Force 55 offers a genuinely impressive use of space: • A vast beach-club-style swim platform with multiple configuration options • A large aft deck with sliding circular doors offering open-air or enclosed flexibility • A circular main-deck entrance that sets the tone for the yacht’s contemporary style • A full-beam owner’s suite forward on the main deck with the possibility of a private balcony • Four spacious lower-deck guest cabins PLUS a huge full-beam VIP • Crew accommodation for 10 across five cabins, with a proper crew mess • A bridge deck designed for charter success: skylounge, aft dining, Captain’s cabin • A touch-and-go helipad forward — doubling as an extraordinary entertainment deck • A sun deck with a stunning plunge pool and panoramic views Performance comes from twin Caterpillar 1900 hp engines, giving a top speed of around 18 knots and a range of approx. 3,500 nm at 10 knots. THE BIGGEST ADVANTAGE: FLEXIBILITY One of the most compelling reasons to buy a yacht at this stage is the ability to shape the final product. As David discusses on board with Sales Manager Fabrizio Massa, Admiral have deliberately engineered an extraordinary degree of flexibility into the S-Force platform: • Multiple aft-deck configurations (open, enclosed, or hybrid) • Custom choices for the beach club: dining, diving, luxury glazing, storage • Several options for interior layouts (5, 6, or even 7 guest cabins if desired) • Full freedom in interior design and finishes, supported by TISG’s world-class design teams • The possibility of custom features such as balconies, cinema rooms, gyms and more Admiral’s portfolio speaks for itself — from Platinum (78m), Kensho (75m) and Life Saga (65m) to the Lamborghini-branded Tecnomar. The Italian Sea Group is a global design powerhouse, and their flexibility reflects the level of sophisticated clients they serve. AN OPPORTUNITY RARELY SEEN ON THE MARKET • A proven platform with multiple successful sisterships • A build already well underway, massively reducing delivery time • A customisable final layout and interior • A pedigree shipyard with a rapidly growing global reputation Whether you are a client, a Captain, a broker or simply fascinated by large-yacht construction, this is a project worth serious attention. Broker contact and full specifications are listed above. COMING NEXT One week after this video is published, we will host a live Q&A with Fabrizio Massa. You’ll be able to ask questions directly about the build, the layout, engineering, delivery schedule and customisation options. #AdmiralYachts #SForce55 #ItalianSeaGroup #SuperyachtBuild #NewBuildYacht #SuperyachtForSale #55mYacht #YachtsForSale #NorthropAndJohnson #SuperyachtConstruction #AluminiumYacht #CustomYacht Follow us also on YouTube @Yachtsforsaleblog @YachtsforCharter @yachtbuilders And our partner's channel: @MarineMaxOnline If you are interested in becoming a yacht broker: yachtbrokermasterclass.com And if you would like to keep updated on events at the Yachts For Sale YouTube team you can join the free INSIDE INFO newsletter at www.yachtsforsaleblog.com

These boats are not weekend toys. They are battle wagons. In this video, we tour 10 Sailboats Built Like TANKS—vessels designed to shrug off storms, survive groundings, and keep you safe when the ocean throws a tantrum. From legendary full-keel cruisers to aluminum expedition yachts, we reveal the toughest hulls ever built. We cover: The "Wetsnail": Westsail 32 (Heavy, slow, and nearly indestructible). The Steel Survivor: Bruce Roberts 43 (DIY-friendly and tough as nails). The High-Latitude Beast: Garcia Exploration 45 (Aluminum hull built for ice). Hey guys, I've done a motorcycle video before in Ghana so I thought I would share this one too.
We continue the Cape Dory 30 cutter refit, adding modifications for living aboard and offshore voyaging. Here we remove the two original 30 gallon plastic water tanks which were leaking and were surrounded by a space wasting fiberglass hull liner and constructed two larger integral water tanks built into the hull. Also check the owners youtube channel Aboard the Flying Spur: https://www.youtube.com/@flyingspur/videos Materials used for one tank of approx. 40 gal. (151 L). Inside dimensions 47" L x 26" W (starboard side 24" W) x 13" H on inboard side tapering along hull to 3" H on outside: 1. 2.5 sheets of Diviycell H-80 5 lb density plain sheet, 3/8" thick x 24" x 48". $59 ea. fiberglasssupplydepot.com 2. Beckson 6" deck plate. 3. About 2.5 gal of epoxy resin needed of either a 2.5 gal kit, fast 4-1 hardener EPOX-635414 $162. Or 4 gal kit slow 3-1 hardener EPOX-6353156 $245. uscomposites.com 4. 5 qt (8 oz) Aerosil/Cabosil epoxy thickener FL-AER050 $11 uscomposites.com 5. One Beckson 6.5" Screw-Out Deck Plate DP60-W $26 Defender.com 6. Fiberglass - Use either 1208 biaxial which is composed of 12 oz per sq. yd. cloth stitched to a layer of 3/4oz per sq. ft. chopped mat for total weight of 18.75 oz per sq. yd. Or use a combination of 1208 and the lighter 10 oz E-glass regular fiberglass cloth tape in 4" and 6" width. You want the divinycell panels to be stiff like plywood when finished so when using 1208, one layer on each side is sufficient. When using 10 oz plain cloth use two layers each side. Amount needed will vary depending of type of cloth chosen. fiberglasssupplydepot.com 7. One 1/2" straight plastic thru-hull for tank outlet 8. One 3/4" 90 degree plastic thru-hull for vent 9. 1/2" and 3/4" SHIELDS RUBBER Series 162 Polyester Reinforced Clear PVC Tubing and clamps 10. Sika 291 sealant 11. One gal kit of Devoe Bar-Rust 233H $123 https://specialtycoatingsinc.com/products/bar-rust-233-off-white Or PPG Aquatapoxy A-61 (or A-6) . You only need about two qts for two coats but you can use leftover to coat bilge or lockers. Labor for each tank approx. 36 hours.
Sam is finally home after working overseas and that can only mean one thing… it’s time to untie the lines! We are prepping the boat for departure, slide out of our marina berth, make a last stop at the fuel wharf, and then point the bow south toward the Whitsundays. With full tanks and big smiles, we set off straight into it on an overnight sail—leaving the docks behind and chasing that offshore feeling once again. This is one of those special sailing days where everything clicks: the crew is back together, the boat is ready, and the horizon is calling. In this episode of our liveaboard sailing around the world series, we anchor at the famous Sandhills of Moreton Island and spend the day exploring one of the most beautiful island destinations in Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. Moreton Island is a must-visit location for sailors, cruisers, and liveaboard boaters, known for its crystal-clear water, white sand beaches, and protected anchorages. After sailing across Moreton Bay, we carefully choose our anchorage and settle into the calm conditions behind the sandhills. Anchoring a sailboat in places like this is a huge part of the liveaboard sailing lifestyle, and it’s moments like these that make travelling the world by sailboat so special. With the boat secure, we head ashore to explore the beach, walking along the shoreline and taking in the natural beauty that makes Moreton Island such a popular cruising stop. This video is a real look at life at anchor, showing what it’s like to live on a sailboat and explore remote islands by boat. If you’re a beginner sailor, new boat owner, or someone researching sailing destinations in Australia, this episode offers inspiration and insight into everyday cruising life. From anchoring out, beach exploring, and enjoying the freedom of sailing, this is authentic liveaboard sailboat life. As the day comes to an end, we return onboard to experience a peaceful sunset at anchor. Watching the sky change colours over Moreton Island while the anchor lights come on across the bay is one of the most magical parts of living aboard a sailboat. These quiet evenings are a reminder of why so many people dream of sailing full time, off-grid boat living, and long-term cruising. If you enjoy sailing vlogs, liveaboard sailing Australia, anchoring at islands, sailboat cruising, and exploring islands by boat, this video is for you. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Canon R50 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Back up is a Canon 200d. Action scenes and small blogging is done with an Insta 360 Ace2. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. I also use an Insta 360 and have two drones, a Magic mini2 and Mavic pro Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over several days. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have limited communications with the outside World. Everything was going so well. Then out of no where it just snapped. We were really thought most of our problems were fixed, but that just goes to show you how many things can go wrong on a boat. This was the last test before the big Atlantic crossing and we were really thought we had it figured out, oh well back to the drawing board. We are one day away from starting our Atlantic crossing!
