We sailed out to Eddy Reef, just off Dunk Island, to take advantage of a patch of good weather and explore another part of the Great Barrier Reef. With vibrant coral, plenty of fish, and even a friendly turtle to swim alongside, it turned into one of our most memorable snorkels yet. From there, we dropped anchor at Kent Island – a tiny coral island with stunning views and a sunset that lit up the whole sky. Next stop: Mourilyan Harbour, where we’ll sit out a few fairly hectic rainy, windy days before making our way north to Cairns. The trek north continues. Thanks for watching. We were due. Between all our medical issues it was hard to get out sailing. We found three days and made a run for it. We set our course south looking to reach the Potomac River and then find a quiet anchorage to chill and relax. We found the perfect cove in Smith Creek where we splashed the anchor and sat back to relax. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset while sipping some refreshing wine before grilling some burgers for dinner. The next day we explored Smith Creek and stretched our legs on a deserted beach before returning to “Moments in Time” for lunch and some hull scrubbing. We relaxed, enjoyed a nice dinner and went to bed. We reluctantly weighed anchor the next morning and started our journey back to Solomons in rough waves and high winds on the nose. We had to be back, there was no leeway, so we sucked it up and pounded our way north. Nine hours later “Moments in Time” was safely secured in her berth and we made our way home. Our only regret was not staying longer. We are already planning a return trip. Subscribe and share in the adventure! ⛵✨
A typical week living aboard - how we get groceries, local events, making the boat more homey, plus finding a safe anchorage from some upcoming winds. Shane also jumped on our friends boat to help them as their windlass broke when trying to hide from the upcoming winds. Join us next week as we get on the more and travel to the amazing town of Kotor - an old town and walls built up a mountainside, set amongst a picture perfect backdrop - a must stop when in Montenegro.

We sail from Kapas Island to Redang Island, where we spend several incredible days surrounded by powdery white sand, turquoise water, and vibrant coral reefs. During our stay, we snorkel in a sandy area reserved for turtle feeding, swimming side by side with majestic sea turtles as they glide gracefully through the crystal-clear water — an unforgettable experience! 🐢💦 We also visit the Chagar Hutang Turtle Sanctuary, where we see first-hand the incredible conservation work being done to protect these endangered creatures. We’re lucky enough to witness tiny hatchlings breaking through the sand to take their first steps toward the sea, and later, a nighttime release of young turtles — truly magical moments that will stay with us forever. 🌙✨ After a few relaxing and inspiring days exploring Redang, we sail back to Kuala Terengganu, anchoring in the basin with the city and bridge beautifully lit at night, ready for the upcoming bridge opening ceremony. A heartwarming and unforgettable chapter in our Malaysian sailing adventure — filled with turtles, tropical beauty, and the joy of life on the sea aboard No Regrets II. ⚓💙 Timestamps if you like to Jump Right In: 00:00 Intro 00:35 The RIP, Leaving Port Phillip Bay WHO ARE WE? Hey there! We’re Chris and Jo, an ordinary Aussie couple living our extraordinary dream aboard our Seawind 1260 since January 2019 and now we continue from 2024 aboard our new 1370! Our adventure began with an unforgettable journey down the east coast of Australia, followed by a sail to the stunning New Caledonia. In 2020, we continued our exploration further north, and by 2021 and 2022, we circumnavigated Australia, discovering breathtaking locations along the way. Having previously owned fishing and water-skiing boats, our passion for sailing deepened after crewing in South Australia, leading us to make the leap into full-time living at sea. We hope to inspire you, just as we were inspired by other YouTube channels, to chase your dreams and explore the wonders of this beautiful world. Our island-hopping journey through the Canary Islands continues as we set sail from Tenerife to La Gomera. The crossing takes us through one of the well-known acceleration zones where the trade winds funnel between the islands — giving us a fun, fast sail before reaching the calm wind shelter of La Gomera. We drop anchor in Laguna de Santiago, our first glimpse of this unique island, before discovering a hidden bay that truly takes our breath away. Towering cliffs, lava-carved caves, and a canyon that leads to stunning views — this place feels untouched and full of magic. Along the way, we meet a couple living off-grid in an old fishing bay, a reminder of how many ways there are to live a meaningful life connected to nature. We are a sailing couple living full-time on our Hallberg Rassy Rasmus, documenting our life on the water from the Mediterranean to Morocco and now through the Canary Islands. My life aboard was a mix of adventure and reflection, shaping an independent woman’s story of resilience, personal growth, and embracing the sailing lifestyle. Along the way, I became an ocean conservation activist with In Mocean, stumbled across my dog Boga, and discovered the joys and challenges of sailing with a dog. Now, I’m exploring a new chapter, having jumped aboard my partner’s Hallberg Rassy Rasmus with Boga and his Australian Kelpie, Jango. Together, we face the unique dynamics and challenges of sailing as a couple, balancing off-grid life, sustainable sailing, and the demands of long-term cruising. #boatfoolssailing #MaineSchooner #SailboatCooking #cruisinglife #BoatRecipes #SailingMaine Hey BoatFools Nation! Today, we’re doing something a little different—but definitely boat related! We’re in Rockland, Maine, joined by Canadian Ken, and visiting the former captains of the historic two-masted schooner J & E Riggin, John Finger & Annie Mahle. They owned and operated this classic Maine windjammer for over 22 years, sailing the coast and feeding lucky guests incredible meals straight from the galley. Annie’s not only a seasoned sailor—she’s a chef, cookbook author, and true boat-galley magician. Today, she’s showing us how to make one of her favorites: a Chicken & Mushroom dish with caramelized onions and creamy white-wine sauce, easily adapted for life aboard. We’ll cook it on a two-burner Coleman stove, to approximate our galley and what one might find in most cruising sailboats, and pair it with fresh herbs from her garden. Along the way, we’ll talk about: ⛵ The story behind the J & E Riggin, a 1920s oyster-dredger turned Maine schooner 🥘 Easy boat-friendly recipes for sailors who want real meals—not just sandwiches 🦪 How to shuck oysters like a pro (without losing a finger) 🍋 Galley-chef tips for provisioning, storing food aboard, and keeping things fresh 🌊 What it’s really like living & cooking aboard a classic wooden boat If you love classic boats, Maine schooners, and sailing lifestyle stories, you’re in for a treat. It’s a little “Below Decks Meets Windjammer Cooking”—BoatFools-style. This video shows the complete process of building our composite hatches, from the 3D printed custom molds to the final lamination. We demonstrate how we created two separate 3D printed molds—one for the hatch lid and one for the gutter/frame—and walk through the entire build sequence: mold preparation, gel coating, fiberglass lamination, and post-processing. This method provides a practical solution for creating strong, complex composite parts with precise geometry without expensive tooling. A quick walk-through a Beneteau 38 Gran Turismo offered for sale in Port Gallice, Antibes by Power To Sail.
Chris Beeson puts the Rustler 42 through her paces and provides a comprehensive walk-through tour. Designed in 1996/97 by Stephen Jones as a larger alternative to the Rustler 36, the Rustler 42 was launched in 1999. Even today, this British-built yacht features qualities rarely found on production yachts. She boasts a fully bespoke, handcrafted interior. A long fin keel moulded as part of the hull, creating an encapsulated keel with the ballast inside the yacht. This design requires no bolts or fastenings. A full-length skeg protects the rudder. The engine isn't located in the aft cabin, so occupants aren't disturbed by noise or vibration; instead, it's positioned above the keel, where tankage is also situated, helping to keep heavy items low and central for better stability. It has a cutter rig, offering smaller, more manageable sails that can be gradually reduced in area. All these features and more contribute to the Rustler 42's enviable reputation as a true bluewater yacht, capable of cruising the world. Why is she still being built after 26 years? While we work to bring power back to Dark Angel, the nurse sharks at Staniel Cay remind us that there’s still beauty to be found in the middle of repairs. In this episode of Sailing Dark Angel, we finally track down a generator and start bringing power back to Dark Angel. At Staniel Cay Yacht Club, the nurse sharks steal the spotlight while we use their wifi to hunt for parts. Then, back at the boat, more sharks glide beneath us as we dive in, a wild reminder of why we’re here in the Exumas. ⚠️ Lightning Strike Update We were directly struck by lightning. Navigation systems, running lights, anchor lights, work lights, a large freezer, and even our keel were damaged. We're still facing VAT, duty, exchange rates, customs brokerage, and a costly haul-out for keel repairs in the Dominican Republic. Current items still needing repair/replacement include our Isotherm freezer in the saloon, our AIS and keel repairs. Also, our newly replaced wind instruments aren't working. Facing shipping and customs for replacement. ► This new catamaran, which made its world debut at Annapolis – though this was actually hull #3 - is astonishing in more ways than one. Firstly, the construction, carried out in Thailand, uses a double sandwich structure (Big Mac-style) comprising two layers of closed-cell foam and three fiberglass skins - one on the outside, one in the middle and one on the inside. The resulting thickness (7 cm/2¾ inches!) means that no bulkheads are required, allowing the catamaran to be fitted out as desired. This multihull also features twin 55-kW electric motors, an impressive 210-kWh battery bank and supports 4,900 Wp of solar panels - enough to ensure more than 100 nautical miles in electric mode and more than 1,800 miles in hybrid mode at a cruising speed of 6 knots. ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Builder: Group Island Spirit Length: 51’9” (15.77 m) Beam: 26’10” (8.19 m) Draft: 5’1” (1.54 m) Displacement: 36,375 lbs (16.5 t) Sail area: 1,905 sq ft (177 m²) Fuel: 264 US gal (1,000 l) Water: 264 US gal (1,000 l) Cabins: 3 to 6 Price: $1,500,000 ex-tax, ready to sail (2025) ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! We’re back on the hard this week, making major progress on our refit and addressing one of the biggest safety concerns for catamarans: escape hatches. In this video, we dive into what makes them so risky, vent a little (okay, a lot 😅), and show the changes we’re making to keep our boat safe. While we’re at it, we also start rebuilding our bed base, where our new electrical system will soon live, fix a critical handhold near the helm steps that was barely hanging on, and remove the sails to prep for pulling the mast next week. Join us for another busy week on the hard: a mix of problem-solving, planning, and a few choice words for boat builders everywhere. ——————————————————————— ⛵️Join the Crew or become a VIP (our version of Patreon!): https://www.svsabado.com/subscribe/ ⚓️Check out our Blog: https://www.svsabado.com 📸Follow us on Instagram: @sv_sabado 🎁Our favorite products: https://www.amazon.com/shop/hollyandray **As Amazon associates, we earn commission from qualifying purchases** Holly and Ray have been #sailing together since 2020 on their #catamaran, Sabado.
