This is a bit of a different kind of video – created together with Sohvi and her research project at the Arctic Centre, University of Lapland. The short documentary explores the role and agency of ice in shaping Arctic futures by following a sailboat journey through the Northwest Passage and an overwintering in Kalaallit Nunaat. The documentary is part of the Planetocene2025 research project which proposes a new paradigm for world politics: the Planetocene, which emphasizes that all forms of life – including humankind – are dependent on the well-being of nature. https://arcticcentre.org/en/planetocene2050/

#sailing coastline SICILY 181 nautical miles avoiding stormy sky and jelly fish exploring volcanic islands, Trapani and Capital City Palermo. Sailing the routes ancient traders and mythical gods used and checking out marinas along the voyage. The weather changes increasing use of engine but striped dolphins join for a race and a play. San Vito lo Capo is beautiful and we recommend you visit this town and Palermo. Trapani is the obvious port to head for when on voyage from Sardinia to Sicily and staff at Marina Stabile were very helpful allowing use of their workshop for minor repairs. Which places should you stop at on the way East? This video is unusually long to fit everything in to one episode and get to Messina and Mount Etna in the next one.
Can You Really Sew a Sail Yourself? Sure! Removing and repairing a genoa isn’t exactly a small job – especially when you’re doing it yourself. In this episode, Jason takes on the first challenge solo: figuring out how to remove the genoa and get it off the boat with no help! Once it’s down, good mate, Jim, steps in and the real test begins – resewing the sunshade protection using a Sailrite sewing machine neither of them had ever used before. What could possibly go wrong? Armed with the instruction manual (and a fair bit of optimism), the boys tackle the stitching and, against the odds, end up with a seriously solid result. No ball gowns will be sewn anytime soon, but the genoa is repaired, the stitching is strong, and ARGO is ready to go sailing again – all with minimal swearing. Huge thanks to Jim for the use of the machine and for giving up his time to help get ARGO back up and sailing smoothly. Right… onto the next boat jobs. Thanks for watching. Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 27 We fly back to Sanur, Bali, where we spend a few relaxing days soaking up the calm before the adventure truly kicks off again. Easy mornings, slow days, and a chance to reset before things get wild. Our first stop is the stunning Tukad Cepung Waterfall — and let’s just say we got absolutely drenched without even going for a swim. Tucked away inside a cave, this waterfall is an incredible sight and easily one of the highlights of our time in Bali. From there, we head into the rice fields where I face my fears on the sky bikes. Suspended high above the paddies, it was hands down one of the scariest things I’ve done, and I was very happy to see the end of that ride! To finish things off, we jump on four wheels for an unforgettable off-road adventure — racing through rice fields, splashing through muddy water, driving through tunnels, and even under waterfalls. Pure fun, plenty of laughs, and the perfect way to wrap up our Indonesia journey before heading back to the boat. Thanks for coming along with us 🤍 Come along for the highs and lows of life at sea – the joy of community, the challenge of sailing, and all the fun we get up too !!! Filmed from a small steel sailboat and the surrounding rainforests of the Pacific Northwest, this channel offers natural soundscapes, slow moments, and reflective talks drawn from a life lived close to weather, water, and woodsmoke. A massive tide lifted decades trapped rainforest logs and everything else below the new tideline nature in a few hours altered forever.

Treasure is always in the eye of the beholder. Whenever I’m walking along a beach, my gaze is constantly sweeping the sand for shark teeth, arrowheads, unusual shells, or—if luck is really on my side—a stray gold doubloon. Even with the beach packed with people, we still managed to uncover a few shark teeth and some small shells. At day’s end, we laid out our finds for comparison. And, well… it appears Skipper Pete claims the prize for both quantity and quality, despite Monica’s spirited protests. What do you think? Feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts. We travel 125 nautical miles along the Rajang River, the longest river in Malaysia, battling strong currents, weaving through countless ships and barges, witnessing logging of the Borneo rainforest, and meeting incredibly friendly locals on our way to the town of Sibu. We explore the night markets and the Sibu Central Market—Malaysia’s largest indoor market—checking out the local fish market and sampling a few unusual fruits. On the way upriver we squeeze under one bridge, then on the return journey take an alternative exit, passing under two more bridges marked at just 20 metres high… shorter than our 22-metre mast!” Timestamps if you like to Jump Right In: 00:00 Intro 00:35 Early start for the Rajang River 02:36 Anchor stuck before river trip 04:40 Bridge 1 10:37 Sibu 12:54 Sibu Central Market 17:03 Bukit Lima Nature Reserve 19:13 Heading back, bridge 2 22:06 Bridge 3 23:37 Launching tender in strong current WHO ARE WE? Hey there! We’re Chris and Jo, an ordinary Aussie couple living our extraordinary dream aboard our Seawind 1260 since January 2019 and now we continue from 2024 aboard our new 1370! Our adventure began with an unforgettable journey down the east coast of Australia, followed by a sail to the stunning New Caledonia. In 2020, we continued our exploration further north, and by 2021 and 2022, we circumnavigated Australia, discovering breathtaking locations along the way. Having previously owned fishing and water-skiing boats, our passion for sailing deepened after crewing in South Australia, leading us to make the leap into full-time living at sea. We hope to inspire you, just as we were inspired by other YouTube channels, to chase your dreams and explore the wonders of this beautiful world. What would you do. Stay with the boat or get the hell out of it? It was a stressful few days as first we had to move the boat from the mooring we were on and organise to get into a marina. The locals had all said "cyclones in November/December?? no way!) Getting into a marina up here involves having your underwater areas checked and treated for unwanted species of shellfish. This involves staying on a pontoon for 10 hours while not using any thru-hulls, engine etc. The we had to organise insurance after being without any in Indonesia. We finally got into the marina and made the call to leave. We'd booked this road trip to Brisbane a while before and there were penalties involved if we didnt deliver the vehicle in time. (Darwin-Brisbane road trip coming up next) Enjoy. The Morris Frances 26 is widely respected among sailors for its heavy displacement, high ballast ratio, keel-hung rudder, and sea-kindly motion. With classic lines inspired by traditional working boats and modern fiberglass construction, it delivers comfort offshore, confidence in chop, and low maintenance ownership. More than 200 were built, and well-kept examples remain highly sought after in the classic sailboat and pocket cruiser markets. Wildwood stands out thanks to her Tom Morris refit provenance, freshwater history, and recent upgrades, making her a rare blend of heritage and practicality. If you’re searching for a bluewater-capable 26-foot sailboat, classic yacht under 30 feet, or a solo cruising sailboat with pedigree, this Morris Frances deserves a close look. Unlike most of the big singlehanded ocean races today, the Golden Globe Race is specifically for the sort of boat that was commonplace fifty years ago. At 33-36 feet, with long keels and a modest rig, they are sailed not by ‘rock-star’ racers but by ordinary people driven by a variety of motives to perform extraordinary feats. Gunnar Christensen from the States is in England preparing his boat for the next race. I went down to the marina in Lymington to find out what makes a man like this tick. I learned a lot. To keep the video to a YouTube-friendly length I’ve had to cut out some important passages such as his trim-tab self-steering arrangements with full redundancy onto a hydrovane, but nothing is ever perfect and there’s more than enough meat here to get your teeth into. Enjoy meeting this remarkable man, as I did. #Golden Globe Race, #yacht racing, #Tom Cunliffe, #Circumnavigation, #Gunnar Christensen If you’re interested in sailing, things maritime and the salty road to freedom, you'll enjoy my channel, so pour yourself a glass of the finest and settle down to listen to my occasional chats. CURRENTLY CRUISING IN THE BAHAMAS In the southern hemisphere, where the winds roar and the waters are deep and unforgiving, you’ll find Cape Town, South Africa. This location has a high demand for capable BlueWater vessels. Robertson & Caine met this demand with their Leopard 58: Sea Dog. Sea Dog was built in 2020 as a BlueWater sailing catamaran and, through multiple upgrades in 2023 and 2025, is equipped for both long and short voyages. Designed for space and livability, she’ll comfortably house family and friends without compromising storage or cruising efficiency. Sea Dog is a capable sailing yacht seeking a captain to put her to use. Whether you aim to spend time cruising in the Caribbean, enjoying easier, shorter sailing days and a friendly community, or you want to stretch beyond into the South Pacific, finding undiscovered islands, sailing across oceans, and immersing yourself in new cultures, Sea Dog will get you there. And once aboard, that intention becomes immediately clear. If you are interested, click on this link: https://bluewatercruisingboats.com/boat-listing/2020-leopard-58/
