Uniting captains, industry leaders and special guests, the Captains of Industry Roundtable delivered a rare forum for high-level insight, refined discussion and meaningful collaboration on the issues defining the future of luxury yachting. The much-anticipated 2025 Captains of Industry Roundtable was held on 11 November at the Australian National Maritime Museum, gathering 71 guests – superyacht captains, yacht owners, industry leaders and sponsors – for a full day of candid discussion and connection. Hillary Buckman, Event Founder and Managing Director of Ocean Media, said the Roundtable was designed as a conversation, not a conference – a space for real voices and real issues. “The Captains of Industry Roundtable was created as a space for genuine conversation – a chance for the people shaping our industry to come together, share ideas and talk openly about the challenges and opportunities ahead,” Buckman said. “It’s all about connection – connecting people, ideas and experience,” she added. “The strength of our industry lies in relationships and in being willing to listen, learn and collaborate so that it evolves and strengthens and everybody, at every level, benefits.” Special thanks to event partners: Signature Partner: Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard (GCCM) Elite Partners: Benetti Yachts, Pantaenius Australia and Miele Australia Ocean Partners: Aurora Yacht Logistics, Analu Interiors, Boating Industry Association (BIA), Maritime Cook Islands, Sevenstar Yacht Transport, Tax Navigate Australia and Volvo Penta.

Sailing vessel Tapatya This is the story of SV Tapatya, a self-built, Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of our adventures as I live aboard, sail and strive to find out just what such a self-built, low-budget vessel is capable of. These videos take a lot of time and effort to make, in what is already a time-intensive project. Your support in watching, subscribing and sharing these videos is very much appreciated. Think catamarans cost 2X more to maintain because they have two hulls? Everyone believes this myth - but the real difference has nothing to do with hull count. In this video, I break down the actual maintenance costs between catamarans and monohulls, and reveal the ONE system that changes everything (spoiler: it's not what you think). WORKING TOWARD LIVEABOARD LIFE 🌊 I'm documenting my journey toward full-time boat living, breaking down everything I learn about boats, maintenance, costs, and the cruising lifestyle. If you're researching your first boat or planning to go liveaboard, you're in the right place. 💬 What's YOUR biggest concern about catamaran maintenance? Drop it in the comments! 👍 Like this video if it cleared up the cost confusion 🔔 Subscribe for honest boat breakdowns every week Many believe catamarans cost more to maintain due to their dual hulls, but this video challenges that assumption. We explore how the true difference in boat maintenance costs often stems from an overlooked system, which drastically shifts the catamaran sailing versus monohull debate. This insight is crucial for anyone considering the cruising life or simply enjoying the boatlife, offering valuable boating tips for all. 🏷️ Tags #sailing #catamaran #monohull #sailboats #sailingsafety #boatlife #liveaboard #cruising #beginnerSailing #sailingtips #catamaranvsmohull #bluewater #oceanlife #safetyatsea #sailingadvice #catamarans #monohull #boatmaintenance #sailing #liveaboard #cruising #catamaranvsmono #sailinglife #boatlife #marinecosts #catamarancosts #sailboat #yachtmaintenance #cruisingboat #bluewater

Remonty, naprawy i codzienne obowiązki potrafią totalnie wciągnąć. Witamy Was serdecznie na polskiej wersji kanału SailOceans! Chcemy Was zainspirować do świadomego życia, dotarcia do swoich potrzeb, uczuć, nieodkładania swoich marzeń (małych i dużych) na “później". Given the global popularity of shorthanded offshore racing in both amateur and professional circuits, it's amazing to think that there is no offshore world championship event. And yet this type of racing is something that nearly made it through to the Olympics. The recent Offshore Double Handed Worlds run out of Cowes and organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club suggests that this could be a successful format for the future. But the event also provided guide lines for a new way of holding keel boat racing in the future. Given the widespread concerns about the ever spiralling costs of 'big boat' racing and how future generations will be able to afford it, the Offshore Double Handed Worlds provided some interesting ideas. We report on who came out on top and talk to shorthanded expert and self confessed addict Nigel Colley about what this might mean for the future. In this episode, our family splits up for two very different adventures in Panama. Shane and our oldest son, Cole, join a friend’s sailboat to help with a full Panama Canal transit, while I stay back in Linton Bay with Hudson and Addison. Their journey takes them through the first three locks and into Gatun Lake for the night, but the real challenge comes the next day when the line-toss crew doesn’t show up as they approach one of the Pacific locks. A missed throw nearly turns into a big problem. Meanwhile, the kids and I set out on our own whimsical adventure. Spotting monkeys on a morning walk, swimming in a mangrove where crocodiles might be lurking, hopping buses into Panama City, wandering the colourful streets of Casco Viejo, and eating our way through the day. After their long canal crossing and our playful dash through the city, we finally reunite at the anchorage outside Panama City. Two different paths, one unforgettable adventure.
Since 1973, The Ocean Race has been the ultimate test for a team and an unparalleled human endeavor. For nearly 50 years, it has held a near-mythical hold on some of the world's finest sailors and served as the proving ground for legends of our sport. The Ocean Race is often described as the longest and most complicated professional sporting event in the world, the toughest team challenge in sailing and one of the three great events in the sport, alongside the Olympic Games and the America's Cup. However, to truly understand the race, it's best to think of it in a way that the athletes who have competed in it will immediately recognize. Simply put, The Ocean Race is an obsession, and many of the world's best sailors have dedicated years, even decades, of their lives to trying to win it.

Every 3 months, we carry out a lifeboat & rescue boat lowering drill — one of the most important safety routines onboard. As a Chief Officer, it’s my responsibility to ensure our crew stays sharp, confident, and fully prepared for any emergency at sea. From checking release gears, to lowering the boat, to starting the engine and maneuvering, every step matters. This isn’t just a drill — it’s a reminder that the ocean is powerful, and preparation is our best defense. Life at sea comes with responsibility… and this is how we stay ready. 🌊🛟 Let’s find out! #lifeatsea #lifeboat #rescueboat #chiefofficer

To see Richard’s more thorough answer: https://www.yachtsforsaleblog.com/yachts-for-sale/ The idea of the video that I produce of course is to promote the yacht for sale, but should potential buyers worry about whether they will have clean title to the yacht? I spoke to the broker representing the owner of ALFA NERO, Richard Higgins, and he sent me a full answer to your question that I’ve published as a downloadable PDF for anybody interested to read it - a link to that is in the description of this video. Clean title to ANY yacht that you buy is always an issue, and I can’t stress enough how important it is to engage a reputable marine lawyer for any yacht purchase at all, whether it be Alfa Nero or smaller yachts too. Richard’s explanation in the PDF file goes a long way to explaining why you can have confidence in the clean title of ALFA NERO but please - do keep those questions coming, and check out Richard’s explanation that is a little too long to put in a YouTube short.
Join us as we sail up the ICW and explore some of Florida’s most charming coastal towns — Cocoa Village, Titusville, and New Smyrna Beach. We soak in the sunshine, discover new spots, and even spot manatees for the very first time (a total dream moment!). But later in our journey, things take a turn… When we try to set off early, absolutely everything seems to work against us. From unexpected delays to a brutal current ripping straight at us, our “easy” sailing day turns into a slow-motion battle just to make progress. Boat life isn’t always smooth sailing — and today it definitely shows. ⛵️ In this episode: • Exploring historic Florida towns along the ICW • First-ever manatee sightings! • A not-so-perfect sailing day • Fighting an intense opposing current • The real, unfiltered side of cruising life If you enjoy following our journey, don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe — it helps our little channel more than you know. 💙 LOVE OUR CONTENT?? Step aboard NO RETREAT, a 2020 Hylas 57 (hull #2) and one of the most comprehensively outfitted modern bluewater cruising yachts on the market today. Designed by Bill Dixon and built by Queen Long Marine, a family-owned third-generation shipyard that has been producing Hylas Yachts for over 40 years, this 57-footer blends performance, safety, and true “apartment-style” liveaboard comfort. From her vacuum-infused composite hull, twin rudders, and Jefa torque-tube steering to her hydraulic furling North Sails inventory and Harken 60 Rewind primaries handling the genoa, self-tacking jib, and mainsheet, NO RETREAT is purpose-built for shorthanded passagemaking. Proportional bow and stern thrusters, dual autopilot drives with selector, bow and stern watertight bulkheads, and a highly developed bilge and Arid Bilge system tick every bluewater-safety box. Below decks, you’ll see why this feels like a floating luxury apartment: a full-beam aft owner’s suite, two guest cabins, two heads with separate stall showers, an open galley with Corian counters, European white oak joinery, Dometic 4-zone air conditioning, Sonos with Samsung smart TVs, Starlink Gen3, and a quiet, robust 24V electrical system. Her owner—previously of a 120' sailing yacht—has maintained her to superyacht standards, including fresh bottom paint (Fall 2025) and Semco-sealed teak decks. On deck, this Hylas 57 features a Pearl Gray Alexseal hull, teak decks, FRP hardtop with white/red lighting, hull color-matched arch, electric extending sunshade, 3-sided enclosure, hydraulic teak swim platform, and a serious tender package with Highfield RIB with center console and 40 hp Yamaha on Simpson Lawrence electric davits. Add in the Raymarine AR200 augmented reality cameras, full Raymarine nav suite, satellite weather, KVH TracPhone, and GOST security, and you have a truly turn-key world cruiser.
