Since we've been cooling our heels in Florida all winter we decided to spend some time in the boatyard getting Ecola in tip-top shape. A lot of the work we did was cosmetic, but they were projects that had been put off for far too long. Our cabin sole is original to our 1965 Alberg 30. A few weeks ago it finally gave out and we decided it was time to finally take care of replacing the flooring. We used vinyl plank flooring to cover the existing flooring for the time being. The project was definitely harder than we initially thought but the finished product looks great! Putting solar panels on a small boat, especially one as old as our 1965 Alberg 30 presents a lot of challenges. The most glaring is how do you make it so the panels don't detract from the classic lines of the boat. Our old cable lifelines were rotten to the core and about one got tug from breaking. We decided to replace them with Dyneema because it would be cheaper and we would be able to see wear as it happened instead of just before/at failure.
