Dans l’épisode précédent, j’avais conclu un échange avec un Guna : de la bière contre une sortie de pêche avec lui. Il devait venir… mais il n’est jamais revenu. Cette fois, avec la famille à bord, Andrée-Anne et moi pouvons enfin partir ensemble pour une séance de chasse sous-marine. Mais ce qui devait être un moment simple et complice va rapidement tourner à la mauvaise surprise… En plein dans l’eau, nous nous faisons littéralement attaquer par un requin de récif 🦈 Heureusement, plus de peur que de mal, nous nous en sortons sans blessure. Malheureusement, la journée ne s’arrête pas là. Deux mauvaises nouvelles viennent assombrir le voyage : – Andrée-Anne apprend le décès de sa tante, emportée par le cancer – De mon côté, j’apprends la perte de mon ami Sylvain, décédé dans un accident Des moments difficiles qui nous rappellent à quel point la vie est imprévisible et fragile, et combien il est important de profiter de chaque instant. In ILCA 7, Karol Krupski (ESP) and Luka Zabukovec (SLO) are now tied at the top of the leaderboard on 30 points, highlighting the remarkable level of equality among the leading contenders. Just ten points behind, Fernando Abella (ESP) sits third overall. In ILCA 6, Ginevra Caracciolo  (ITA) continues to assert her dominance, extending her lead at the top of the provisional standings after a flawless day in which she proved unbeatable, winning both races. The Italian now holds a commanding 31-point advantage over her closest challenger, Spain’s Irene de Tomás.

The Royal Ocean Racing Club has confirmed Mach 50 Palanad 4 (FRA), owned by RORC Member Olivier Magre and skippered by his son Antoine Magre, also a RORC Member, as the overall winner of the 2026 RORC Transatlantic Race on IRC corrected time. While competitors remain racing at sea, none can now beat Palanad 4’s IRC corrected time, securing overall victory in one of offshore sailing’s most demanding ocean races. The French-flagged Mach 50 completed the 3,000 mile race from Lanzarote to Antigua in an elapsed time of 8 Days 05 Hours 55 Minutes and 50 Seconds - a standout performance. The result marks a major milestone for both the Magre family and the innovative Mach 50 project, which has delivered overall victory in only its second offshore race, following its debut at the 2025 Rolex Fastnet Race. As the fleet continues to arrive in Antigua, Palanad 4’s performance stands as one of the highlights of the 2026 race: a demonstration of innovation, preparation and teamwork in offshore ocean racing.

In compagnia di Marco, esperto regatante sul Lago di Como, andremo a capire cos’è il bonpresso, a cosa serve, e quando è davvero necessario su una barca a vela. 🔍 Cos'è il bonpresso su una barca a vela Il bonpresso è una prolunga fissa o retrattile posizionata sulla prua dell’imbarcazione. Serve per armare vele di prua asimmetriche, come il gennaker, il code zero o altre vele moderne che richiedono un punto di mura avanzato. Può essere realizzato in carbonio o alluminio, e la sua funzione principale è quella di ottimizzare la portanza e l’efficienza delle vele da regata o da crociera performante. ⚓ Differenza tra bonpresso e delfiniera Spesso si fa confusione tra bonpresso e delfiniera: il primo è solitamente retrattile e usato per esigenze di regata; la delfiniera, invece, è una struttura fissa più comune nelle barche da crociera, che può integrare anche l’alloggiamento per l’ancora. Marco spiega che molte barche possono uscire senza bonpresso e che l’aggiunta di una delfiniera è una scelta legata alle necessità di navigazione, al tipo di vela che si desidera utilizzare e al tipo di configurazione (regata o crociera). 🧭 Quando serve davvero il bonpresso Se hai intenzione di utilizzare vele asimmetriche, il bonpresso diventa quasi indispensabile. The first official gathering of the 38th America's Cup was a glitzy affair as five teams and the America's Cup entourage rolled into Naples, Italy. To many this event, set in the prestigious surroundings of the Palazzo Reale marked the start of the 38th Cup cycle. And as with pretty much every start to a Cup there were smiles all round and talk of big things to come. Justin Chisholm was there on behalf of PlanetSail and thrust his microphone under the chins of the key players to find out how they felt about the road to the Cup, while Matt Sheahan gives his take on what we have learned at the start of the 38th America's Cup cycle.

In Episode 4, we continue the restoration of Jinnie’s keel. Alan is back in the workshop, guiding us through the process in greater detail and explaining the careful work involved in restoring Jinnie’s original keel. Alan talks us through glue, shoe, acetone, and keel bolts, highlighting how the team must work quickly due to the rapid curing time of the epoxy. Alan and Jamie then bring the keel up and lift it back into Jinnie, marking a major milestone in the restoration.
