We finally leave India and fly into London, ready to begin the first chapter of our European Vacation. The plan is to find a motorhome in under a week so we can hit the road and start exploring the UK and Europe properly. Magnus has been doing loads of research, so we’ve arrived with a shortlist of motorhomes to inspect and a rough idea of what our next Nutshell might be. Of course, travel has a way of surprising us. A last minute decision takes us to a mud marina, and suddenly we’re stepping aboard boats as well. It wasn’t part of the plan, but here we are looking at two possible future Nutshells and wondering if our European adventure is about to take a very unexpected turn. We’re torn between two completely different paths. Do we travel through Europe by road in warmth and comfort like we’d planned, or do we take a leap into boat life and rewrite the whole journey before it even begins It’s a genuine dilemma and one of the most decisions we’ve faced so far. In diesem Video geht es um den kleinen Refit unseres Cockpittisches!

Mit unserer Topaz Magno geht’s noch einmal raus in die Kieler Bucht – direkt vor dem Olympiahafen Kiel-Schilksee. Bei 4 Beaufort und ablandigem Wind erleben wir ein richtig agiles kleines Sportboot. Die Magno ist mit nur ca. 3,94 m Länge, 1,56 m Breite und rund 95 kg Rumpfgewicht ein echtes Leichtgewicht. Das Großsegel ca. 8 m², die Fock rund 2 m² und der Gennaker ca. 10–11 m² machen die Jolle perfekt, um das Gennaker-Segeln zu üben – aber eben auch ziemlich kippelig. Das spüren wir sofort: die ersten Kenterungen lassen nicht lange auf sich warten. Insgesamt werden es 6 Kenterungen – jedes Mal schnell aufrichten, Wasser rausfahren und weiter geht’s. Genau das macht den Reiz aus: wenig Trägheit, direktes Lenkverhalten und jede kleine Gewichtsverlagerung spürt man sofort. Wenn die Magno ins Gleiten kommt, spielt die klassische Rumpfgeschwindigkeit von ca. 9 km/h keine Rolle mehr – mit Gennaker und genug Wind kommen wir zeitweise auf 16 km/h und mehr. Für Einsteiger ist die Magno aufgrund ihrer Stabilität beim Aufrichten perfekt zum Lernen geeignet – aber man muss aktiv segeln und Gewicht trimmen! Wir segeln Höhe, üben Wenden, fahren lange Schläge und probieren Manöver im Trapez. Dabei wechseln wir Rollen: mal steuert einer nur mit der Pinne, mal bedienen wir Großsegel und Fock gemeinsam. This is the first video of my new series where I show you guys how I spec up different lines. In this video I start out with a fun challenging project, building up Runner Tails for a TP 52. Im using Marlow Ropes MGP PBO/Vectran blended cover with a dyneema D-12 78 core. I use Kingfish Mafioli Dyneema chafe sleeve at the splice and the first 13' and then I finish it up with a light weight Kingfisher mafioli Swiftcord tail. There are many ways how to do this, this is how I build my runners for a boat of this caliber. As well I am a trained and certified rigger, so just because you watched my video does not make your certified or trained.
