Fiberglassing doesn’t have to be messy, itchy, or intimidating. In this video, I walk through my practical, low-stress approach to fiberglassing wooden boat parts — the same methods I use in my own shop to keep the process clean, efficient, and predictable. If you’ve avoided fiberglassing because it feels complicated or unpleasant, this video is for you. Over the years I’ve developed simple techniques that remove most of the frustration and help produce consistent results without unnecessary fuss. Today we fiberglass flat plywood deck panels for an Iain Oughtred–designed Gannet using WEST SYSTEM epoxy products. Along the way, I cover preparation, cloth handling, epoxy application, and several small tricks that make a big difference in the final finish. In this video you’ll learn: • Why fiberglass improves plywood durability and stability • How to prepare panels before glassing • Setting up a clean workspace for epoxy work • Cutting and positioning fiberglass cloth properly • Joining cloth seams cleanly using salvage edges • Mixing epoxy efficiently with simple shop tools • Proper wet-out technique using a spreader • How to avoid bubbles and excess resin • Timing multiple coats for a chemical bond • Using peel ply (release fabric) to reduce sanding • Bias-cut fiberglass for tight curves and stems Fiberglassing isn’t about rushing — it’s about preparation and patience. Done well, it saves time later and dramatically improves durability. 🌐 Website: https://www.nomadboatbuilding.com 📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadboatbuilding 🛠 Support these videos on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/nomadboatbuilding If you enjoy practical wooden boatbuilding knowledge and want to help keep these videos coming, please consider supporting the channel on Patreon. In this episode of Salty Podcast, I sat down with Ken & Kelly of @svthecrookedanchor at the infamous Chat ’N’ Chill on Stocking Island in the Exumas, Bahamas, near George Town. They’re cruising aboard a 1990 Gemini catamaran and sharing how they went from zero sailing experience to full-time cruising life. We talk about selling the house, downsizing, refitting their boat, doing their own maintenance, creating sailing content as a team, and making the dream happen one step at a time. Ken & Kelly are now in their 7th season of cruising and have made multiple trips through the Bahamas. They also share the story behind their beach art, including the swing seats they’ve placed around the islands, and their philosophy that it’s never too late to start chasing the cruising dream. Seeker is an extraordinary Selene ocean trawler that has enjoyed the benefits of proper attention and care. She is in like-new condition and compares very favorably with a new build (which would take over one year to complete). Seeker is hull number 115 in this popular Selene design series. Pricing, detailed specifications and photos are available on https://www.JMYS.com Inspections are by appointment only. This video was filmed in the Bahamas in March of 2026. Seeker is a late model, Selene 56 in like-new condition currently enjoying time in the Bahamas. This Selene 56 is the “deep hull” configuration with more headroom in the engine room and the cruisers stern aft which provides a bit more waterline underway and is softens floating at anchor. Her arrangement summary is: three staterooms, two heads, single engine, double walking side decks. She was originally based in the Pacific northwest and became an amazing auction opportunity that her second owners couldn’t pass up. They upgraded and outfitted in Washington and after a summer enjoying Alaska cruising, they embarked on a great adventure, sailing her around to the US east coast through the Panama Canal. During their stewardship many notable improvements have taken place, two that top the list are the addition of air conditioning and painting the hull. The hull was painted in Stuart, FL in late 2023. Seekers owners have done a masterful job of keeping her clean, fresh and ready to cruise. She has proven to be an excellent vessel for this active owner operator couple. They have enjoyed operating her as a couple and also traveling with friends and family. Her generous size and clever layout provide spacious accommodations comparable to the Selene 60 and she has enjoyed long, comfortable passages with plenty of space for entertaining and cruising with guests. Guests will appreciate the private staterooms (a VIP and double bunk) that share a head and shower. You have a secure path on deck with symmetrical double walking side decks hemmed with tall bulwarks that connect the cockpit and the foredeck via the Portuguese bridge. The flybridge is capped with the much-desired fiberglass hard top and this area with two helm chairs and a settee with table is a great place to enjoy cruising, at rest and underway. Powered by a 410 HP single engine Cummins QSL9410MDI. This provides an economical cruising speed of 7.8 knots which can provide a range of approximately 2,800 miles. The deep-keel model creates a taller engine room adding convenience to access for maintenance and service. For comfort underway her Keypower hydraulic active fin stabilizers help her track on an even keel. When docking, you have the convenience of electric bow and stern thrusters. For anchoring out, she has a Maxwell horizontal windlass on the bow with two large anchors ready to be deployed. The interior of Seeker is a stunning example of Jet-Tern Marine old world craftsmanship. Her light teak woodwork is warm and soothing. The owners have added artwork and personal items to make her their home afloat (artwork and decorations do not convey with the purchase). Most Selene owners are “owner operators” who enjoy the reliability of this design and savor time aboard, planning, traveling and resting at anchor. For additional information visit: https://www.Selene56.com to learn more about this great design and review previous Selene 56’s that JMYS has marketed. There is a sister ship (called Spyhop II) Selene 56 video that Jeff Merrill filmed. These remain online published on our YouTube channel for those doing their research. Be sure to keep an eye out for what might pop up next on https://www.Selene56forsale.com and we invite you to join our email list to get new listing notifications. This video can only share enough to intrigue you. To fully appreciate Seeker you need to get aboard. What happens when your watermaker breaks down in the middle of remote Indonesia 10 hours by boat from the mainland? In this episode of The Reeva Project, we face one of the biggest challenges of full-time liveaboard sailing: surviving without fresh water, completely off-grid. With our watermaker out of service, we turn to local solutions — sourcing 300 litres of drinking water in jerry cans from a small island restaurant, just enough to last us a few weeks. It's not glamorous. But that's real boat life. But this remote island is far more than just a stopover. While we wait for our friends sailing in from Singapore, we slow down and explore what off-grid island living actually looks like — floating ATMs, bamboo stilt homes, a local hospital, a community power station, and a century-old mosque that survived World War II bombings. This is sustainable, simple living in its truest form. We also tackle some serious sailboat maintenance and boat projects — working alongside local craftsmen to fabricate custom parts and upgrade our anchoring system. It's a reminder that the best skills, craftsmanship, and human connection are often found in the smallest, most remote places on earth. With repairs done and systems back online, we set sail again — this time with another boat as company. Because when you're a sailing family living on a 42-foot sailboat, the journey never really stops. 🌊 We're Kaeya, Vaidehi & Gaurav ~ An Indian sailing family living full-time aboard SV Reeva, exploring the world one island at a time. From bluewater cruising and offshore sailing to family travel, boat repairs, and slow living this is our life, unfiltered and as real as it can get 🔔 Subscribe for weekly episodes on sailing in Southeast Asia, liveaboard life, and raising a family at sea. 👉 Follow our journey: 📸 Instagram: @thereevaproject 📘 Facebook: The Reeva Project Music : Epidemic Sound

In this episode, we’re up before dawn, ready to depart for Fakarava—until the port engine refuses to start. After changing the filters, we cautiously make our way toward the pass, but trouble follows us: the port engine dies completely, and the starboard engine won’t rev past 1800 RPMs. We’re baffled and deeply disappointed. Forced to drop anchor, we spend the entire day troubleshooting a cascade of mechanical issues. By nightfall, we think we’ve solved them, and at first light the next morning, we set off once again for Fakarava. Everything seems fine—until we’re in the middle of the pass and the port engine dies… again. Do we push on? Do we turn back? What’s the wisest and safest decision? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! Mainsail Problem Troubleshooting Our Main Sail as Liveaboard Sailors onboard our Beneteau 430 Ep 114
Hi and welcome aboard @SailingAstridTheWombat We are Gav and Shezz and two and a half years ago we bought our Beneteau Oceanis 430 sailboat with absolutely no sailing experience and jumped straight into the deep end of liveaboard sailing. Our very first passage was just over 700 nautical miles, launching us headfirst into the world of bluewater cruising, learning to sail, and real life at sea. Since that moment, we’ve been fully immersed in boat life, documenting the journey of turning a production cruising sailboat into a capable, self-sufficient home as we prepare for full-time liveaboard life. From major sailboat upgrades and off-grid power systems to everyday maintenance and skills building, we’re learning what it truly takes to own, sail, and live on a boat while working toward our goal of sailing around the world. If you’re into sailing adventures, beginner sailing, sailboat ownership, cruising lifestyle, and traveling the world by sailboat, our journey is all about real-time learning, ocean freedom, and building the confidence to chase long-term world cruising under sail. When you’re living the liveaboard sailing lifestyle, things don’t always go to plan—and in this episode, we’re dealing with a frustrating issue with our mainsail. Join us as we troubleshoot problems with our sailboat’s mainsail while out on the water, giving you a real and honest look at what it’s like to maintain and sail a boat full-time. Sailing around the world isn’t just about perfect sunsets and calm anchorages—it’s also about problem-solving, learning, and adapting. In this video, we walk you through the challenges we’re facing with our mainsail, from identifying the issue to testing possible fixes while underway. Whether it’s sail trim, rigging tension, battens, sail shape, or hoisting problems, we break down the process so you can follow along and learn with us. If you’re a beginner sailor, sailboat owner, or someone interested in sailboat maintenance, this episode shows real-world troubleshooting as we learn as we go. Understanding how your mainsail works is a key part of improving sailing performance, safety, and efficiency—especially when you’re living off grid on a sailboat. As full-time liveaboard sailors, every challenge is part of the journey. This is the reality of cruising life—fixing gear, learning new skills, and becoming more self-sufficient every day. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s really like to live on a sailboat or sail around the world, this episode shows the behind-the-scenes side of sailing life that you don’t always see. We’re passionate about sharing our journey through liveaboard sailing Australia and beyond, helping others learn how to sail, gain confidence on the water, and chase their own sailing dreams. In this episode, we’re diving deep into a serious carbon fiber upgrade session. First up, we check out the tricky installation of a curved carbon-nomics panel into the cabin top (big shout out to Shane for getting that twisty piece in!). We’re sticking to our boat-building standard: if it’s black, it’s bonded with epoxy and carbon. Then we’re breaking down these incredible @C-TECH CT40 sail battens. Shayne explains why these aren’t just any carbon tubes: - How they are custom-designed for specific sails (even down to the individual pocket!). - The science of "hoop fiber" vs. "unidirectional" layup. - Why you can't just cut them in half (splitting them ruins the stiffness and causes twisting!). - How we are repurposing these high-tech race boat battens for our cruising boat. Where are we using these? - Compression Post: Future-proofing the mast base. - Push Pit: Building a carbon push pit (sorry stainless steel guy!). - Starlink Mount: Using Carbon c-tech battens for the post. - Cabin Top Stiffening: Attempting to recess these into the ceiling for wiring and strength. - Transom Beam: Stiffening the back to handle a traveler track. After months of work, trial and error, and a few unexpected setbacks, we finally finished building our own sail covers and stack packs for Arabella. What started as a winter project turned into a full deep dive into canvas work—designing, patterning, sewing, breaking the machine, waiting weeks for parts, and learning as we went. In this video, we walk through the entire process, the improvements we made over our old setup, and why doing it ourselves might have been one of the best upgrades we could make for the boat. From better drainage and durability to smarter line management and even integrated awnings, these new covers should completely change how Arabella looks and functions underway. It was a lot of work—but it might just have been worth it. -------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella started as a wooden boat building project in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve began the journey as an amateur wooden boat builder crafting a 38' wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and now sailing the boat—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that traditional wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project continues beyond the boat shop, as Steve and crew travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they've built. Not everything on a yacht is replaced — so what is considered normal wear and tear? In this video, we take a closer look at how wear and tear is assessed throughout a yacht’s charter life, and what owners can expect at the end of the phase-out process. After multiple seasons and frequent charters, certain signs of use are natural. Our teams carefully evaluate the condition of each vessel, distinguishing between cosmetic aging and elements that require repair or replacement to maintain safety and performance. From interior finishes to exterior surfaces and equipment, this process ensures a fair and transparent approach when preparing the yacht for handover or its next stage. Understanding wear and tear is an important part of yacht ownership, helping set realistic expectations while ensuring the vessel remains reliable, well-maintained, and ready for continued use. #YachtManagement #YachtOwnership #BoatMaintenance #Sailing #CatamaranLife
Take a closer look at the systems that control anchoring and sailing performance — from the windlass to the sails. In this video, we focus on the inspection and maintenance of key deck equipment that plays a vital role in both safety and handling. The windlass, used for anchoring operations, is carefully tested to ensure smooth operation, proper load handling, and reliability when it matters most. At the same time, our teams inspect the sails to assess their condition after a full charter season. This includes checking for wear, damage, and overall performance to determine whether maintenance or replacement is required. Together, these systems are essential for safe manoeuvring, efficient sailing, and overall ease of use on board. As part of the phase-out process, all checks are carried out to ensure the yacht is fully operational and ready for its next journey — whether continuing in charter or transitioning to private use. #YachtManagement #BoatMaintenance #YachtOwnership #Sailing #CatamaranLife
Take a closer look at the inspection and maintenance of standing rigging — a critical component for both safety and sailing performance. In this video, we focus on how our teams monitor and maintain rigging systems, including cables, turnbuckles, chain plates, and mast fittings. These elements are essential to the structural integrity of the yacht and require regular attention throughout the season. Routine visual checks are carried out frequently, including after charters, to quickly identify any signs of wear or damage. During the winter maintenance period, rigging tension is carefully measured and adjusted using specialized tools to ensure optimal performance. In addition, independent professional inspections are conducted annually, often in line with insurance requirements, providing an extra level of verification and safety. As part of the phase-out process, a final detailed inspection ensures that all rigging is in proper condition — ready for safe sailing and the yacht’s next chapter. #YachtManagement #BoatMaintenance #YachtOwnership #Sailing #Rigging
Take a closer look at the safety equipment checks that ensure every yacht is fully compliant and ready for the sea. In this video, we focus on the inspection and maintenance of all onboard safety gear — a critical step in preparing a vessel for both charter operations and handover. Every winter, our teams carefully review inspection timelines and verify that all equipment meets regulatory requirements. From life jackets and life rafts to flares and signalling devices, each item is checked for condition, functionality, and expiry dates. Alongside this, we ensure that essential onboard inventory — including toolboxes, fog horns, and mast chairs — is complete and ready for use. Before any yacht is delivered at the end of its phase-out process, all safety equipment must be fully operational, compliant, and ready for immediate use at sea. This is how we ensure every vessel meets the highest standards of safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. #YachtManagement #BoatSafety #YachtOwnership #BoatMaintenance #Sailing
Take a closer look at one of the most important systems on board — the batteries that power comfort and daily life on a yacht. In this video, we explore how battery systems are maintained and managed within a professional charter fleet to ensure a seamless onboard experience. From lighting and refrigeration to essential onboard equipment, reliable power is key to both comfort and safety. Our teams carry out annual battery testing during the winter maintenance period to monitor performance and anticipate any issues. Depending on the type of battery system — including gel or lithium — replacements are planned strategically throughout the yacht’s operational life. When needed, we replace the full battery pack rather than individual units, ensuring consistency across the system and maintaining optimal performance. This is a practical look at how proper battery management supports reliability, efficiency, and comfort on board every charter yacht. #YachtManagement #BoatMaintenance #YachtOwnership #MarineElectrics #Sailing
Step inside the engine room and discover the essential checks required to keep a marine engine running safely and reliably. In this video, we focus on the key elements of engine maintenance, highlighting the critical areas that technicians monitor to prevent issues and ensure smooth operation. From overall condition checks to detailed inspections of piping, electrical systems, and fluid levels, every step plays a role in keeping the vessel operational. You’ll see how corrosion is assessed across equipment, why properly secured hoses and clamps are essential, and how simple checks can prevent long-term damage. We also cover the importance of bilge pump condition, electrical connections, and monitoring engine and gearbox oil to detect potential problems early — including signs of seawater contamination. Whether you’re a yacht owner or interested in yacht maintenance, this video offers a clear, practical look at what it takes to maintain engine reliability at sea. #YachtManagement #BoatMaintenance #MarineEngine #YachtOwnership #Sailing
Go behind the scenes of yacht maintenance and discover what it takes to keep a charter vessel running safely and efficiently throughout the season. In this video, we focus on the essential inspections and technical checks carried out on board, ensuring every system is performing as it should. From engine monitoring to routine servicing, these processes are key to maintaining reliability across a busy charter schedule. You’ll see why the engine is considered one of the most important safety components, and how it is carefully checked before and after each charter. Alongside this, our teams follow structured maintenance routines and detailed checklists to make sure nothing is overlooked. While underwater work plays a role, this video highlights the broader picture — the ongoing care, coordination, and technical expertise required to keep a yacht fully operational and ready for every new departure. Whether you’re a yacht owner or interested in charter operations, this offers a practical insight into the standards behind professional yacht maintenance. #YachtManagement #BoatMaintenance #YachtOwnership #Sailing #CatamaranLife
Go behind the scenes of the yacht phase-out process and discover the meticulous technical standards applied to every vessel. In this video, we take a closer look at how each yacht is carefully inspected, maintained, and prepared to the highest standards — whether it’s returning to private ownership or getting ready for a new charter season. Every detail matters when it comes to ensuring performance, safety, and long-term reliability. From steering systems and propulsion to hull restoration and safety checks, our teams carry out a comprehensive review of all critical components. This includes rudder inspections, sail drive maintenance, propeller checks, and repairing gel coat imperfections to restore both function and appearance. We also highlight the importance of ongoing underwater inspections, creating full transparency and a detailed history of each yacht’s condition throughout the season. The result is a vessel that is technically sound, professionally maintained, and ready for the open sea. Whether you’re a yacht owner or interested in yacht management, this video offers valuable insight into the standards behind every phase-out. Returning from our California trip we had a DIY project waiting for us. The Dometic reverse cycle air conditioner unit that was ordered came in early while we were away and was ready for pick up. Getting it from dock to deck to cockpit and finally salon was no easy feat. It is always nerve racking moving something that heavy with the chance of it falling into the drink! Steve had built a plank and it proved very helpful in making the transition easier. There were a few tweaks before the installation of the Dometic. With the previous unit there was an imbalance of airflow. Too much in the main cabin and too little in the salon. Steve custom made a baffle to place in the duct work that would divert more of the airflow into the salon and away from the cabin area. Additionally, the drip pan drain was a little too high to allow complete drainage from condensation. A couple of pieces of wood were secured to the floor of the installation area which would allow the unit to be tilted slightly to provide proper drainage. Finally, the unit was in place and cool air filled the cabin and salon. It’ll make for a comfortable summer. Lots of biting no-see-um bugs are about and can make outside activities unbearable. It was a thrill to see tree swallows darting all about knowing they were catching as many of those bugs as fast as they could. Eat up little guys! It's been a while since we polished our spare propeller and it has been sitting on the aft deck glistening in the sun ever since. Karen went in the aft sail locker preparing to help guide the propeller into place. The area was too tight and she had to come out so Steve could lower it down. Oops, now it looks like we might need to paint that locker. It is so nice to be back home on board Isabella. We truly appreciate all the support from our subscribers and viewers. After months of rebuilding and living off the boat, we finally hit a turning point in our sailboat refit… we’re moving back aboard—even though the boat is far from finished. In this episode, we begin the process of putting the boat back together—reinstalling drawers, doors, and interior panels that have been out for what feels like forever. It’s a huge mental shift from teardown to rebuild, and seeing the spaces come back to life is incredibly motivating. At the same time, we made a big (and slightly crazy) decision: 👉 leave our apartment and move back onto the boat full-time. Right now, the boat is still very much a work in progress: No running water No permanent power (just extension cords to shore power) Minimal cooking setup And a 3-minute walk across the yard for the bathroom, showers, dishes… everything We focused on making just two spaces barely livable—our stateroom and the galley. And by “finished,” we mean the essentials: drawers back in, a mattress on the bed, and a place to put our clothes. It’s not comfortable. It’s not convenient. But it feels right. Eliminating the daily commute to the boatyard gives us back time and energy, and being onboard again is already pushing us to work longer, stay focused, and make faster progress toward launch. This is the reality of a liveaboard sailboat refit—messy, inconvenient, and sometimes uncomfortable—but also incredibly rewarding as we get closer to getting back in the water. If you’re into sailboat refits, DIY boat restoration, liveaboard life, and the behind-the-scenes reality of rebuilding a cruising catamaran, this episode shows what it really takes to push through the final stretch. We’re not done yet—but we’re closer than ever, and being back onboard is a huge step forward. ⛵ One step closer to sailing. 00:00 We’re putting it back together! 00:27 Channel intro 00:44 Drawers 02:45 We made a decision 04:31 Make one room habitable 06:56 MVP - minimum viable product 08:38 Need the galley 10:44 Tour of yard facilities 12:16 We’ve been here for 3 weeks 14:20 Like, Subscribe, Thanks for watching! 14:50 End card In Every Description: ☝More about us, our adventures, and how we do all this on our website.More about Roam here ⛵️https://sailingroam.com/our-sailboat/ 📲 Keep up with us on social FACEBOOK: https://facebook.com/sgsailingroam INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/sailing_roam ----------------------------------------------------------- WE'RE GERI AND SHAWN. There is no job on a boat crappier—literally—than working on the heads. Our starboard head has been a thorn in our backside since the day the boat arrived brand new. First it was a leaking black water tank, which had to be replaced under warranty. Then came a mysterious leak somewhere around the toilet itself. Add in chronic backflow issues, and we finally just gave up and used the owner’s head in the port hull. But when the port head went down for maintenance, the starboard head demanded its moment in the spotlight. Marine toilets have a whole cast of characters that can fail, and in this episode the villain was the joker valve—the little rubber gatekeeper that keeps raw sewage from washing back into the bowl after a flush. While replacing it, we also uncovered the source of the leak and fixed that too. What started as a truly crappy day ended with a working head and a smile. Victory never smelled so sweet. Progress on the chain locker and windlass battery storage. Plus working on the insulation. We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. We have a frequently updated blog at https://sustainablesailing.net with membership options and a weekly newsletter at £2 per month for Early Bird Supporters. Our free Sustainable Sailing book is at: https://sustainablesailing.codeberg.page/ Or visit our shop at https://sustainablesailing.teemill.com/ for great hoodies, t-shirts and bags. When we bought Vida in August 2019 she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all-electric (motor, cooking etc). Wondering how much it costs to live on a sailboat in Seattle, whether you can legally live aboard in Washington State, how to find a liveaboard marina, and if boat life is actually cheaper than rent? This video breaks down real-world Seattle liveaboard costs, including moorage fees, marina waitlists, liveaboard rules, utilities, maintenance, and insurance—plus alternatives like anchoring, mooring buoys, and full-time cruising in Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. This is a Practical Sailor-style deep dive into the system behind living aboard: limited liveaboard slips (~10% cap), long waitlists, real monthly costs ($1,300–$2,500), and why maintenance (often ~10% annually) is the expense most people underestimate. We also cover the Pacific Northwest climate—condensation, heating, mold control—and the realities of currents, cold water, logs, and regulations. We’re officially casting off! After months of preparation, planning, and dreaming, it’s finally time to leave the dock and begin our full-time liveaboard sailing adventure around the world. In this episode, we’re sharing our future sailing plans, our route ideas, and what life will look like as we transition into full-time off-grid sailing life. If you’ve ever dreamed about sailing around the world, living on a sailboat, or escaping the 9–5 for a life of freedom and adventure, this is the video for you. We dive into what it really takes to become liveaboard sailors, from boat preparation and provisioning to the mindset needed for long-term cruising. Whether you’re a seasoned sailor, a beginner sailor, or just someone who loves travel and the ocean, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how we’re turning this dream into reality. Our journey into world sailing is just beginning, and we’re bringing you along every step of the way. From coastal cruising in Australia to international passages, remote anchorages, and tropical island destinations, we’ll be documenting the highs, the challenges, and everything in between. This is more than just a sailing trip — it’s a complete lifestyle change into slow travel, off-grid living, and adventure sailing. In this video, we talk about our planned destinations, our timeline for departure, and what we’re most excited (and nervous!) about as we prepare to leave the marina behind. If you’re interested in sailboat life, cruising lifestyle, or learning how to start your own sailing journey, this episode is packed with inspiration and real insights.
