We have been working towards this for years. Now we are making and stretching the dyneema that will connect the main forestay and inner forestays to the boat. This time we snapped some dyneema.
Only 7 days before the crane comes to put the mast up.

We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP.

We have a frequently updated blog at https://sustainablesailing.net
with membership options and a weekly newsletter at £2 per month for Early Bird Supporters.

Or visit our shop at https://sustainablesailing.teemill.com/ for great hoodies, t-shirts and bags.

When we bought Vida in August 2019 she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all-electric (motor, cooking etc). More details on our blog at https://sustainablesailing.net/

What causes your boat electronics to randomly reboot the moment you power up your chartplotters? For two seasons, our Nautitech 46 Open had a frustrating gremlin — the Victron Cerbo GX would restart whenever the sailing instruments came online. No faults, no alarms, just… silence, then a reboot. In this video I finally track it down.Using an oscilloscope, I captured exactly what was happening during startup — and the culprit was a classic marine startup brownout: the simultaneous inrush current from multiple devices pulling the voltage low enough to drop the Cerbo GX offline. I'll explain how cable impedance turns ordinary startup loads into a real problem, walk through the clues that ruled out other causes, and show the capacitor-bank fix that solved it for good.

After the fix: clean startup every time⚓ Though our symptoms were Cerbo GX-specific, the troubleshooting process applies to unexplained reboots across marine electrical systems — chartplotters, autopilots, instrument displays, and more.🛠️ Parts & links in the description below.

A proper yacht survey is far more involved than most people realize.

⚙️ MAN engine surveyor
🛥️ Hull & systems surveyor
🔧 ADR pod-drive specialist

Over two full days, we inspected onboard systems, conducted sea trials, reviewed maintenance records, and documented key findings.

🎯 The goal isn’t just to find issues—it’s to give the buyer complete confidence in what they’re purchasing.

✅ Survey completed.
🤝 Now moving toward closing.

What started as a few small cracks quickly turned into a more involved repair than we expected…

While inspecting our sailboat’s rudder, Jase noticed cracking around the rudder stock. What seemed like a minor cosmetic issue led us to grind back a small area of fiberglass to see how far the cracks went. By the time we reached solid material, we had uncovered a section that needed proper attention.

With the damaged area exposed, it was time to learn a completely new skill. Using epoxy, fiberglass, and fairing techniques, we carefully rebuilt and reshaped the rudder back to its original profile. It was a challenging repair, but one that gave us the confidence to tackle future maintenance projects with a little more know-how.

We had really under powered winches (a 10 & an 8 both without self-tailing) and lots of galvanic corrosion on the winch pads. So a huge upgrade to give us two Lewmar Ocean 30st (self-tailing and two speed) halyard winches. Only 9 days before the crane comes to put the mast up.

Bottom paint isn't just paint; it's a controlled release system for poison to prevent marine growth. This growth slows your boat, increases fuel burn, and can clog intakes. Choosing the right paint depends on your boat, water, and maintenance routine. #BottomPaint #BoatMaintenance #MarineLife #Antifouling

Life aboard an 80-foot steel schooner means every square inch has to earn its place.

Anchored in the beautiful waters of Prince William Sound, Alaska, Scott continues the ongoing refit of The Alaskan Gypsy, building custom storage solutions and making progress on our liveaboard bathroom remodel. From replacing the old washer and dryer with a sliding tote storage system to leveling an unusable section of the hull and planning future cabinetry, every project makes this steel schooner a little more functional for full-time life aboard.

In this episode you'll also see many of the tools Scott relies on while building aboard, including the Makita 36V cordless track saw, Makita cordless trim router, Makita cordless orbital sander, corded jigsaw, countersink drill bits, marine-grade plywood, reclaimed lumber from previous shipyard work, and Benjamin Moore paint as another section of the boat begins to come together.

Living aboard isn't just about glaciers, whales, and incredible anchorages. It's also about problem-solving, woodworking, boat maintenance, organization, and constantly adapting your home to life at sea.

Whether you're restoring a sailboat, planning your own liveaboard adventure, or simply enjoy watching custom boat projects unfold, we're glad you're here.

Thanks for following along as we continue transforming The Alaskan Gypsy into our home.

Welcome to the next chapter.

In this episode, I finally take you inside the tiny houses and share the vision for what's ahead. We make a full day of progress installing siding, uncover a huge snake that spent the winter hiding in the loft, and I walk through the plans for the tiny house, French drains, landscaping, the grey water system, and everything still to come.

This is the beginning of a new style of Bums on a Boat—following the day-to-day process of building a better life, one project at a time.
Thanks for watching. I'm glad you're here.

New bikinis, new fender, what else is new this week on Isabella?

We are on S/V Isabella a Super Mikado 56 manufactured in France by C.N.S.O. (Constructions Nautiques du Sud-Ouest). Isabella is a sailing ketch and is considered a 1990/2010 model. It has four private cabins, an engine room, salon, galley, and three heads with two separate shower stalls. The hull is fiberglass and is considered a bluewater cruiser. Isabella has a excellent capsize ratio of 1.68 and a very good comfort ratio of 42.19. She is equipped with Garmin / Raymarine electronics and has hydraulic steering.

The naval architect was Michel Bigoin who also designed the largest sailboat in the world which was manufactured in 1976 and called Phocea. It was a 246 foot four masted steel schooner and was considered the largest private sailing yacht in the world until 2004.

A big blow the other night with reported gusts of up to 60 mph pushed Isabella against the dock causing one of the fenders to be ripped away leaving only remnants of the top portion. We have never experienced that before, so weird. Luckily we found a replacement fender and it was on sale, yea!

Karen has two new bikinis that she modeled for Steve. Let us know in the comments which one you like best.

We spruced up the galley by adding a fan to keep things cooler. Wires from an existing light had to be snaked through the ceiling to connect the fan. Unfortunately, while removing the existing light it self disintegrated. Guess what we did? Yep, continued sprucing up the galley by adding new lights. DIY always brings its own set of surprises.

Weekly maintenance includes cleaning out the strainers for the reverse cycle units. What’s not included is what different objects can be found in the strainers. This time, our front AC unit strainer contained a lively crab, a fish and a couple of baby oysters. All visitors from the sea were alive and well and promptly returned to water.

Being somewhat near Savannah we have started preparation for moving to Texas in a few months and discussed cruising considerations in the comfort of the cockpit. Wind is a large portion of planning, the speed and direction all impact the sailing experience and progress. The Gulf Stream is another factor. We will be going against the current flow which can slow down our travel considerably. Waves can make the journey comfortable or miserable depending on their height and period (the time it takes for a wave to complete a cycle and indicates how far apart waves are spaced). There is a lot more that goes into the planning process and that’s for future episodes.

Subscribers we are always thrilled to have you aboard and appreciate your support more than you know. 😘Thank you all for joining us on this episode of Sailing Intermission.
Have you ever plugged your boat into shore power and simply assumed everything was safe?

After an electrical fault aboard SV Impavidus, I decided to investigate exactly how marina shore power works, what reverse polarity actually means, and whether our boats are really as well protected as we think they are.

In this video I explain, in plain English:

✔ What reverse polarity is

✔ Why Neutral and Earth are not the same thing

✔ The difference between European and North American shore power systems

✔ How RCDs (GFCIs) actually protect you

✔ Why a simple indicator can warn you before a dangerous fault develops

This isn’t intended as a modification guide or professional electrical advice. It’s an educational look at the principles behind marine AC electrical systems so you can better understand your own boat and ask the right questions.

Whether you sail in Europe, North America or anywhere else in the world, understanding your boat’s electrical system could one day prevent equipment damage—or something much more serious.

⸻

⚠ Safety Notice

Mains AC electricity can kill. If you are not qualified or experienced working with marine electrical systems, always consult a competent marine electrician before carrying out any work on your boat.

⸻

Herby makes a shocking discovery about boats built in the 1960s and 1970s: the bulkheads would regularly be tabbed on one side only! If you have a boat from this era, check your tabbing and make sure that the necessary tabbing has been added before taking that boat offshore.

Herby clears the way to begin building the structural components that the hull needs to be a proper bluewater cruiser.

Enjoy watching Herby sweat in the summer heat as he battles high temperatures and quick kicking epoxy as he fillets and tabs the ring frame and deck beams to the boat.

Just one month after completing the repairs from our devastating lightning strike, it's finally time to put No Regrets II to the test.

In this episode, we pull anchor in Phuket and set sail west on our 1,500-nautical-mile Indian Ocean crossing to Malé, Maldives. Thankfully, we're rewarded with beautiful downwind sailing, with only one minor maintenance issue along the way—a welcome change after replacing so much of the boat's electrical and navigation systems.

Ten nights later, we make landfall in the Maldives, completing our first major ocean crossing since the lightning strike and proving that No Regrets II is ready for her next adventure.

WHO ARE WE?
Hey there! We’re Chris and Jo, an ordinary Aussie couple living our extraordinary dream aboard our Seawind 1260 since January 2019 and now we continue from 2024 aboard our new 1370!

Our adventure began with an unforgettable journey down the east coast of Australia, followed by a sail to the stunning New Caledonia. In 2020, we continued our exploration further north, and by 2021 and 2022, we circumnavigated Australia, discovering breathtaking locations along the way.

Having previously owned fishing and water-skiing boats, our passion for sailing deepened after crewing in South Australia, leading us to make the leap into full-time living at sea.

We hope to inspire you, just as we were inspired by other YouTube channels, to chase your dreams and explore the wonders of this beautiful world. Join us on our journey, and don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more sailing adventures!

What is an offshore passage really like?

Join us as we sail from New Zealand to Fiji on an 8-day offshore passage, sharing the day-to-day reality of life at sea as a short-handed crew. Beyond the beautiful ocean views, this is what our routine actually looked like: standing watch, preparing quick meals, tracking our progress, and settling into the rhythm of life offshore.

In this episode, you'll see:
- Our watch schedule for sailing offshore as a crew of two
- The simple meals that keep us fueled underway
- Ray's DIY electronic logbook built with Home Assistant and how it automatically reports our position to Passage Guardian (https://passageguardian.nz/) for added safety
- The routines, challenges, and rewards of an 8-day ocean crossing
- Our arrival in beautiful Fiji after more than a week at sea

Fair winds,
Holly & Ray

Get ready to fire up the Blackstone 36" Griddle for some of the juiciest, most flavorful Carne Picada tacos you've ever had! In this video, we're taking finely chopped Steak Meat, searing it to perfection on the flat top, and hitting it with an incredible blend of Mexican spices. Whether you're hosting a backyard taco night or looking for a quick weeknight meal, this recipe delivers that authentic street-taco char and flavor right in your own backyard. Dare I say this may be as good as some authentic street taco food trucks in LA.

We break down the entire process from managing your griddle zones to getting that perfect crust without drying out the meat. Plus, stick around until the end to see how we toast our corn tortillas directly in the residual beef juices for maximum flavor. Don't forget to hit that subscribe button, drop a comment with your favorite taco toppings, and join the journey here with us.

This week on the build of our mountain home, Desiree jumps back into the build and takes over painting the inside of the house.

Technically, we’re priming — but this is the first coat of paint on all the new drywall, and it completely changes the way the inside of the house feels. The painters we were planning to use got delayed, so we decided to try doing the interior painting ourselves to save money and keep the build moving.

With Desiree’s mom helping watch the girls, Desiree was finally able to spend a full day working on the house with me again. She took over the paint sprayer, I rolled behind her, and together we tried to get the whole interior primed while sweating through full-body paint suits in the middle of summer.

It was hot, messy, exhausting, and honestly way harder than it looked — but by the end, the house finally started to feel a little less like a construction site and a lot more like our future home.

Hi and welcome aboard @SailingAstridTheWombat
We are Gav and Shezz and two and a half years ago we bought our Beneteau Oceanis 430 sailboat with absolutely no sailing experience and jumped straight into the deep end of liveaboard sailing. Our very first passage was just over 700 nautical miles, launching us headfirst into the world of bluewater cruising, learning to sail, and real life at sea. Since that moment, we’ve been fully immersed in boat life, documenting the journey of turning a production cruising sailboat into a capable, self-sufficient home as we prepare for full-time liveaboard life. From major sailboat upgrades and off-grid power systems to everyday maintenance and skills building, we’re learning what it truly takes to own, sail, and live on a boat while working toward our goal of sailing around the world. If you’re into sailing adventures, beginner sailing, sailboat ownership, cruising lifestyle, and traveling the world by sailboat, our journey is all about real-time learning, ocean freedom, and building the confidence to chase long-term world cruising under sail.
Just before setting sail to explore the world by sailboat, we tackle one of the most important upgrades for long-term cruising life – installing and commissioning our sailboat watermaker!
In this episode of our liveaboard sailing adventure, we finally get our watermaker installed as we race to complete critical boat projects before beginning our dream voyage around the world. But what should have been a straightforward installation quickly turns into a series of frustrating setbacks as we uncover problem after problem with the system. From unexpected faults and troubleshooting challenges to discovering issues that prevent the watermaker from operating correctly, this project definitely doesn't go according to plan.
Having a reliable source of fresh water is essential for offshore sailing, bluewater cruising, and life at anchor, making this one of the most important milestones in our sailboat preparation journey. With our departure rapidly approaching, the pressure is on to diagnose the problems, make repairs, and get the system producing fresh drinking water before we leave.
Join us as we work through the installation process, troubleshoot multiple issues, test the system, and finally celebrate producing fresh water onboard. Whether you're a liveaboard sailor, preparing your own cruising sailboat, dreaming of sailing around the world, or simply interested in sailboat systems and upgrades, this episode is packed with valuable insights, lessons learned, and the reality of boat ownership.
Our goal is to become fully self-sufficient as we leave the dock and begin our full-time sailing lifestyle. A watermaker is a game-changing piece of equipment for long-distance sailors, allowing us to stay off-grid longer, explore remote anchorages, and enjoy the freedom that comes with cruising the world's oceans. But as every boat owner knows, even the best plans can be derailed by unexpected problems.
If you're interested in sailing, sailboats, cruising boats, liveaboard life, boat projects, sailing adventures, offshore cruising, sailing preparation, bluewater sailing, sailing couples, sailing channels, world cruising, yacht life, or learning what it takes to prepare a sailboat for global travel, you're in the right place.
Topics covered in this episode:
• Watermaker installation
• Watermaker troubleshooting
• Sailboat upgrades
• Liveaboard sailing preparation
• Fresh water systems onboard
• Offshore cruising essentials
• Cruising sailboat projects
• Preparing to sail around the world
• Sailing lifestyle and boat life

After years of rebuilding, learning, and changing the plan more times than we can count, our DIY sailboat freezer is finally finished! What looks like a simple project actually began with rotten wood, soaked insulation, and a complete rebuild from scratch. In this episode, we look back at the entire journey and finally install the last pieces of one of the longest projects in our sailboat restoration.

💬 Me gustaría conocer vuestra opinión.

We have been working towards this for years. Now we are actually fitting the dyneema chainplate loops for our main mast. Only 14 days before the crane comes to put the mast up.

We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP.

The Search For Heavy Weather: How WIND HORSE Changed Offshore Powerboat Design, with Steve Dashew

In this episode, Sue Grant is joined by renowned yacht designer, sailor, author and offshore passagemaker Steve Dashew to discuss FPB 83 WIND HORSE, the yacht that became the genesis of the FPB fleet and fundamentally changed the way he thought about offshore powerboats.

Sue and Steve discuss:

 • The origins of FPB 83 WIND HORSE
 • The transition from sailing yachts to offshore powerboats
 • Designing for heavy weather
 • Stability, safety and offshore survivability
 • Fuel efficiency and long-range cruising
 • The evolution of the FPB fleet
 • Testing boats in real-world conditions
 • Challenging conventional thinking in yacht design
 • Lessons learned from decades of passagemaking

The conversation begins with a simple question: why go looking for heavy weather? For Steve, the answer was straightforward. When designing WIND HORSE, "the bottom line was how comfortable they would be at sea and how they'd handle heavy weather." After decades spent designing and sailing some of the world's most capable offshore sailing yachts, he had never encountered a powerboat that inspired confidence in difficult conditions.

Steve explains how the journey towards WIND HORSE began aboard his final sailing yacht, BEOWULF, a 78-foot water-ballasted ketch capable of remarkable passage times. Yet an unexpected boom failure during a passage from Panama ultimately forced a rethink. Faced with the prospect of spending another three or four years designing and building a new sailing yacht, Steve and Linda began exploring an idea they had previously dismissed: a serious offshore powerboat.

What followed was a design process that challenged almost every accepted convention. Naval architects questioned the concept. Experienced boat owners doubted it would work. As Steve recalls, "everybody said we were nuts."

The result was WIND HORSE, a yacht designed around efficiency, comfort and offshore capability rather than traditional powerboat thinking. Yet even after years of design work, there was only one way to know if the concept really worked. Steve admits that they "wouldn't know the answer" until they had been offshore in genuine heavy weather.

The episode explores the early sea trials in New Zealand and the growing realisation that the boat was attracting attention from experienced commercial operators. Ferry captains and fishermen began taking notice. According to Steve, "when you start attracting the attention of the professionals in a country like New Zealand, you know you're onto something."

One of the most fascinating parts of the discussion centres around a passage from the Bay of Islands, where WIND HORSE encountered a confused sea state made up of multiple crossing wave systems. Steve explains that "the seas from one direction aren't what get you in trouble or make you uncomfortable. It's when you get a crossing sea state, or sometimes two or three seas crossing."

It was during this voyage that the FPB concept truly proved itself. Passing through squalls and breaking seas, Steve experienced something entirely new. After decades of offshore sailing, he suddenly realised that there was "nothing to do." The absence of sail handling, reefing decisions and constant weather management created a very different offshore experience.

Reflecting on those early passages, Steve admits that he "had never realised up to that point how stressful it was" sailing BEOWULF. WIND HORSE offered something different: the ability to maintain passage speeds while dramatically reducing the physical and mental workload associated with long-distance cruising.

Sue and Steve also discuss the realities of yacht design, the limitations of modelling and CFD analysis, and why real-world experience remains irreplaceable. As Steve puts it, "you really don't know until you get the boat in the water in a confused sea state." Despite decades of technical development, many of his final design decisions are still guided by instinct, explaining that "the final decisions are always made by feel."

The conversation goes beyond heavy weather and into the philosophy behind the FPB range. Steve discusses reliability, simplicity, maintenance and why accessible systems matter offshore. In his view, if "you have good access, then you can check things," preventing small problems from becoming large ones.

The episode concludes with the story of how WIND HORSE evolved from a personal project into the foundation of an entirely new fleet. Steve never intended to return to boatbuilding and recalls that "when we built WIND HORSE, we thought that was the last boat." Yet demand quickly emerged, and before long the FPB 64 was on the drawing board.

For anyone interested in offshore passagemaking, yacht design, heavy weather seamanship or the origins of the FPB fleet, this is a fascinating insight into one of the most influenti...

► We had the opportunity to sail aboard the very first Nautitech 41 S, launched in Rochefort last June. Replacing the 40 Open, this new 41-footer remains true to the philosophy that has made Nautitech’s reputation: delivering an engaging sailing experience without compromising onboard comfort.

► While the project was once again entrusted to Marc Lombard Yacht Design Group, the new model introduces a number of significant developments, including the return of the overlapping genoa, a lighter platform, finer hulls, and a new hull shape featuring a concave aft section. The result is a particularly impressive sail area-to-displacement ratio of 12.66 m²/t, allowing the 41 S to perform exceptionally well in light airs while remaining great fun to helm in all conditions. The crew has already recorded a top speed of 15.7 knots in 20 knots of wind.

► Below deck, the layout returns to a more conventional arrangement, with a table in both the cockpit and the saloon. The interior adopts a clean, minimalist style, with just one three-cabin version in the catalog and the use of contemporary materials.
The builder also highlights its new ReShape concept, designed to facilitate future upgrades through an architecture developed to accommodate new technologies while simplifying maintenance and modernization.

► This highly anticipated new model will make its first public appearance at the Southampton International Boat Show, while its official celebration is scheduled for the International Multihull Show in La Grande-Motte next April.

► Technical Specifications:

What happens if a through-hull fitting fails offshore?

As we prepare Escapade for a Pacific Ocean crossing, we're tackling one of the most important sailboat maintenance jobs we've ever done: replacing our through-hull fittings and seacocks with a complete TruDesign installation.

While it might not be the most exciting boat project, neglected through-hulls can become a major safety risk. A failure below the waterline can quickly turn into every sailor's worst nightmare.

In this episode, we remove our old fittings, install new TruDesign composite through-hulls and seacocks, and take another big step towards getting Escapade ready for thousands of miles of offshore sailing.

If you're planning a long-distance sailing adventure, cruising offshore, or simply want to make your boat safer, this is one maintenance job worth paying attention to.

Vetting a boat on Yacht World isn't just about finding something in your budget; it's about knowing how to spot the hidden warning signs before you lose your shirt.

In this video, I’m breaking down 9 very different boats currently listed online to show you exactly how I analyze them through the lens of a professional mariner. From green flags like meticulous custom canvas covers and bomb-proof bronze portlights to serious red flags like terrible broker photography, DIY tile counters, and tender hulls, I'm pulling back the curtain on what to look for.

Whether you’re looking at an offshore-ready 1976 Westsail 42 or an 80s Jeanneau production cruiser, this is how you separate the hidden gems from the money pits.

The original three Bums are back together.

While visiting my brother, Jarrad stopped by to help us run power for Tony and Maria's new sauna and cold plunge. After digging the trench, we installed conduit, pulled wire, wired the outlets, and connected everything back to the main breaker.

It wasn't just another project—it felt like the early days of Bums on a Boat all over again. Three friends working together, solving problems, and enjoying the process.

Sometimes the best part isn't the finished project. It's who you build it with.

Episode 275

After 3 grueling weeks on the hard applying our own DIY copper coating, our catamaran is finally back where she belongs! The relief is amazing, but boat life always keeps us on our toes.
We head round to the Duck Ponds in Townsville to test our brand-new Muir Storm 1250 windlass, only to realize our wiring isn't thick enough. After a quick shopping trip and a major rewiring job, it’s working flawlessly! We also rebuild our watermaker with new parts and successfully produce fresh water.
With everything finally fixed, we lift anchor and make our first official passage over to the stunning Palm Islands for a well-deserved night on the hook. 🏝️✨

What does it actually cost to turn raw land into a place you can call home?

In this episode of Bums on a Boat – Building a Life on Land and Sea, we're sharing the real numbers behind our homestead project. From purchasing five acres of land to installing electricity, building the foundation, running water, and framing the tiny home, we're breaking down what it cost to reach this point.

These expenses were part of Kara Lynn's vision long before we met. Over the past year, I've been learning the story behind this property while helping continue the build, and along the way I've discovered a few surprising things about the land that make this place even more unique.
If you've ever wondered what it takes to start building on raw land—or dreamed of creating a simpler life—this episode gives you an honest look at the journey so far.

Thanks for following along as we continue building a life on land and sea.

We Finally Left the Boatyard… Here's What 2 Years Taught Us. Ep. 73

After two years on the hard, countless projects, and more than a few unexpected setbacks, ROAM finally leaves the boatyard.

This is the moment we've been working toward since the day we hauled out what we thought would be a simple six-month refit. Two years later, we're motoring—and sailing—away with a boat that's been transformed from the keel up.

As we shake the rust off and settle back into life under way, we're reflecting on the biggest lessons this refit taught us. Some we expected. Others we learned the hard way.

In this episode, we share what we'd do differently if we ever tackled another major sailboat refit, including:

⛵ Why trying to do everything at once can slow you down more than it help
💰Importing from China can help you save significant money, but can cost you time.
🔧 Why you should test every system as you build it instead of waiting until the end
💰 Why almost every refit takes far longer and costs far more than planned—and how to prepare for that reality
🌡️ How temperature affects paints, adhesives, epoxies, plumbing, and other materials more than you might think
🚗 The hidden costs of a long haul-out, including lodging, transportation, storage, and day-to-day living expenses
🛠️ Why buying the right tool for the job is almost always worth it—even if you sell it once the project is finished
☝Be careful and cautious is you’re hiring out work. Between boatyards and third-party contractors the pitfalls are numerous.

These aren't rules—just lessons learned from nearly two years of rebuilding our 54-foot catamaran while living the refit life every day.

Whether you're planning your own sailboat refit, restoring a cruising boat, or simply dreaming about the cruising lifestyle, we hope these experiences help you avoid a few of the mistakes we made.

Leaving the boatyard isn't the end of the journey—it's the beginning of the next chapter. There are still systems to test, bugs to work out, and plenty of adventures ahead, but for the first time in a long time, we're doing it from the water instead of the hard.

Thank you to everyone who followed along through the refit. Your encouragement, ideas, and support helped us get to this day.

⛵ One step closer to sailing.

WE'RE GERI AND SHAWN. A couple travelers out chasing the horizon, meeting the people, and capturing it to share with you.

We’ve chosen to Roam the world by boat because, let’s face it, the most interesting path is rarely a straight line.

As we learn to let go of our American drive to finish, and embrace the meandering routes across islands, oceans, continents, and people, we hope to gain a better sense of our world and our place in it.

The path won’t always be comfortable or easy to find but, it will always #roam
