Painting the Accent Walls On Our Home Built Catamaran (MJ Sailing - Episode 380)

Hello everyone! We've been a little quiet over the past month, but it's been one of those stretches where we've had a dozen different projects happening at once—lots of progress behind the scenes, even if nothing has quite reached the finish line yet. Some of what's been keeping us busy includes refining the cabin top to preserve the fore-and-aft line along each side after the raised section, raising and lowering the longeron and forebeam countless times to get everything even, level, and perfectly aligned, and planning out the locations for all of our light switches and outlets...which meant drilling into our freshly painted surfaces. Painful, but necessary! One project I was especially excited to finally focus on was painting our bulkheads with their accent color. After testing three different options (two from Home Depot and one from Alexseal), we decided the durability and finish of the Alexseal paint made it the clear winner. So Pegasus Gray it is! The only remaining question is: glossy or eggshell? With the bulkhead leading into the owner's head finished in eggshell, I moved on to Bulkhead 5, which wraps from the galley into the guest hull and around to the V-berth. After using a routed foam guide to lay out the lines and sanding away the excess Cloud White overspray, it was finally time to roll on the new color. After plenty of experimenting with rolling the topcoat in both heads, I think I've finally found the technique that gives the smooth, sprayed look we were hoping for—applying one light coat at a time, along with a few drops of Alexseal's roller additive. I only managed to get two of the four coats on before it was time to publish this video, so the finish is still glossy for now. But we'd love to hear what you think: should we keep the glossy finish, or switch to the eggshell look we used elsewhere in the hull?
