In this video we tackle two things at once — and both are genuinely useful on their own. First, we walk through how we connected our Cummins Onan generator to the Victron Cerbo GX using a pair of timer relays, giving us remote start/stop, timed runs, automatic start on low battery SOC, and run hour logging for maintenance reminders. Then we go one step further: working with Claude AI, we built a closed-loop generator load optimizer — GenOpt — that runs natively on the Cerbo and automatically manages the AC input current limit in real time. No more babysitting. No more surging. And significantly more charge current than we ever safely achieved manually. Not sponsored — just a project we're genuinely proud of. In this episode I lay out my entire sail inventory and compare the P-16 and P-18 headsails and mainsails to see if there is any compatibility between them. The mast and boom length between the P-16 and the P-18 are identical, so I was thinking the sails may be interchangeable. Subscribe and follow @ColoradoSailing on YouTube for more original sailing videos, gear, boat maintenance, sailing tips and travel content as I sail my Precision 18 trailer sailer and Precision 16 sailing dinghy in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming and South Dakota. #sailing #lakesailing #mountainsailing #saillife #sailingchannel #coloradosailing

We have 82 days left of our 100 day to launch challenge. Busy day. Returned hire car this morning and did food shopping. Then adapted a fantastic loan ladder - more like a staircase :-) The goal is to be able to move it around the boat to give great access for jobs. We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. We have a frequently updated blog at https://sustainablesailing.net with membership options and a weekly newsletter at £2 per month for Early Bird Supporters. Our free Sustainable Sailing book is at: https://sustainablesailing.codeberg.page/ Or visit our shop at https://sustainablesailing.teemill.com/ for great hoodies, t-shirts and bags. When we bought Vida in August 2019 she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all-electric (motor, cooking etc). Paikea refit, sailboat restoration, America's Cup boat salvage, carbon fiber repair, sailboat interior renovation, DIY boat building, Volvo Ocean Race, boat refit series, Valencia boat yard After a huge push, we’re finally at a point where the massive refit of our boat, Paikea, is showing serious progress. We’re tired, but we’re committed, and in this video, we’re giving you a full walkthrough of where we’re at. In this episode: America’s Cup Salvage: We grabbed carbon nomex panels and massive carbon sail battens from an AC catamaran Alinghi 5 that was being demolished. Will it look cool or just warped?! Structural Stiffening: See how we used a carbon batten to fix a flexy spot on the cabin roof and prevent hard points. Interior Demolition & Reconstruction: We’ve ripped out the old liner and are rebuilding the galley, companionway steps, and a MASSIVE new pantry. Upcycled Lockers: Harry is building out his cabin with lockers from the Volvo Ocean Race boat, Trifork/Ericcson 4. Aft Cabin & Shower: The shower/toilet area is finally taking shape! We’re fitting a carbon sink we’ve been saving for years and building a custom floor. Smart Plumbing: We’re installing a gravity-fed black water system to minimize pumps and complexity. Plus new hatches, stanchions etc. We’re getting there! From the "oh sh#t" phase to the "okay, we’re getting there" phase, I definitely think there is a bit of crazy here on Paikea. 😂). Bon visionnage ! 🎥☀️⛵️ Contact: levoiliertagada@gmail.com #Voilier #VieABord #SailboatLife #DIY #Thermostat #ChauffageVoilier #BricolageMarine #NuitABord #Jeanneau #Eolia25 #noirmoutier

Oh no, it won’t switch. The weather is getting warmer and it is time to adjust the Dometic reverse cycle unit from heat to air conditioning, except it was stuck in heat mode. The unit is under all the bedding and cushions in the front cabin, not so easy to access. Once the defective unit was available, Steve checked the solenoid valve which allows the reversing valve to move. It appeared to be working. Next he tried to manually switch the reversing valve from heat to cool. It was a no go, so the heavy unit had to be pulled. Once on deck, we carefully slid the unit across a board to the dock and into a wagon. Loaded it in the car and drove it to a factory authorized Dometic dealer. Now, we wait...will the repair cost be worth saving the unit or will we have to buy a new one? Hopefully the decision will be made and we will have a unit installed before the weather gets warmer and we get hot and sweaty. Karen did some detail painting in the front sail locker using Interlux BilgeKote paint and Steve installed two poles for hanging our extra lines. That locker is now in ship shape condition and nicely organized. It’s great to have that DIY project completed. The area where the Dometic had lived looked a little dingy. While the bilge paint’s out it became the next project. Steve cleaned and sanded the bottom of the area. Karen came behind and painted. That space looks so much better now and it will look fantastic once there is a reverse cycle unit housed in there again. Isabella’s fenders are a variety of types. We decided to match them by removing a round fender and buying a cylindrical one that matched most of the others. Now the remaining fenders needed some sprucing up. On a warm and windy day, Karen used a magic sponge to clean the existing fenders so their white color would sparkle like new. At last, matching fenders to protect Isabella’s hull. We hope you enjoy the glimpses into our boat life we share through Sailing Intermission’s videos. Our subscribers and viewers really keep us going and we love hearing from them. #AD This video is in collaboration with International Yacht Paint by AkzoNobel. What we thought would be a quick haul-out for maintenance quickly turned into something much bigger. From sanding the hull and dropping the rudder to installing a new cutless bearing and repainting the bottom, this boatyard visit turned into a full project. In this episode we tackle one of the most important jobs on any sailboat — antifouling the hull. Before we head off to remote Indonesia, we wanted to make sure Stella is fully prepared for warm tropical waters where marine growth builds quickly. To protect the hull we’re applying Micron 99 antifoul paint from International Yacht Paint, along with Primocon primer, as part of their full yacht coatings system designed to provide long-lasting protection below the waterline. Join us as we prep the hull, apply the primer, and roll on the antifoul to get Stella ready to splash and begin our next sailing adventure. We’re only a few days away from putting Stella back in the water, so stay tuned for the splash and our upcoming expedition sailing through Indonesia. --- International Yacht Paint (Asia Pacific): https://www.yachtpaint.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/intlyachtpaintap/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/InternationalYachtPaintAsiaPacific 💙 A huge thank you to everyone supporting us on Patreon — you truly help make this sailboat life possible. There’s a moment in every build where the project stops being a collection of parts and becomes a boat. This is that moment. In this video, I carefully release my strip-planked Little Auk 11 from the mold, revealing the true shape that’s been hiding in plain sight all along. After hours of shaping, fairing, and fitting each cedar strip, the hull finally stands on its own light, strong, and full of character. You’ll see the techniques I use to safely separate the hull from the forms without damaging the delicate structure, along with a close look at the craftsmanship that goes into a small wooden kayak like this. It’s a satisfying and slightly nerve wracking step, but one that never gets old. If you love wooden boats, traditional craftsmanship, or just the quiet beauty of building something by hand, this is a moment you won’t want to miss. “If you’re going to make it, make it beautiful.” Bob Emser As an advocate for backyard boat builders I offer a free 30 minute chat about your project. Inside Sail America’s Plan to Grow the Sport and the Industry: https://www.practical-sailor.com/subscriber-only/inside-sail-americas-plan-to-grow-the-sport-and-the-industry/ Lightning striking a sailboat sounds like something out of a disaster movie—but what actually happen when it does? In this episode, we break down what really happens when lightning hits a sailboat, how the electrical energy travels through the mast and rigging, and why some boats survive with minor damage while others suffer catastrophic failures. We’ll look at the physics behind lightning strikes, how the current tries to reach the water, and why poor grounding systems can lead to blown hulls, destroyed electronics, or even boats sinking at the dock. Using real-world examples from marine surveys, insurance reports, and sailing publications, we explain how lightning travels through a sailboat’s structure, what components usually fail first, and why modern boats packed with electronics are especially vulnerable. We’ll also cover the most effective ways sailors can reduce lightning damage, including proper mast grounding, bonding systems, keel grounding paths, and practical storm precautions that experienced cruisers use. If you’ve ever wondered whether your mast really acts like a lightning rod—or what happens if lightning actually hits your boat—this video explains the science and the real-world consequences. Topics covered: • What happens when lightning hits a sailboat • How lightning travels through a mast and rigging • Why boat electronics are often destroyed by lightning strikes • Real lightning strike damage to sailboats • Mast grounding and lightning protection systems • How to reduce lightning damage on your boat Whether you’re a coastal sailor, cruiser, or liveaboard, understanding lightning risk and protection can help you better prepare your boat for offshore storms. #Sailing #SailboatMaintenance #BoatElectrical #LightningStrike #PracticalSailor #BoatOwnership #CruisingSailboat Practical Sailor is your trusted resource for reviews of sailboats and sailing gear. https://www.practical-sailor.com Chat with us on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/PracticalSailor/

Now the real haul-out work begins. After the sail drive drama in Episode 61, it’s time to get stuck into the big maintenance jobs underneath ARGO. First up we give the hulls a proper clean to remove staining before Jason tackles sanding the hulls himself – all in preparation for applying fresh antifoul. Then comes a first for us: applying Prop Speed to the sail drives and props. With a professional job happening on the boat next door, Jason suddenly has a benchmark… and he reckons his result might actually be better. We also start tackling a few other jobs while ARGO is on the hard: • Applying the first coat of antifoul • Installing water tank senders so we finally know exactly how much water we have onboard • Starting repairs on the diesel tanks (which has turned into a much bigger job than expected - of course it did) • Getting the tramps repaired It’s a busy haul-out and the learning curve has been steep – but incredibly satisfying. In the next episode, we'll finish the diesel tank repairs, fix soft spots in the deck, and get ARGO ready to head back into the water. Stay tuned for that one! Thanks for watching. We’re back in Gladstone Marina… and this week it’s just Cait and Charlie holding down the boat while Sam is offshore working aboard the AMSA Emergency Tow Vessel. This is what life really looks like between adventures. We’re ticking off the never-ending boat jobs — sewing new seat cushions, helping friends with fuel runs, running errands, and settling into the rhythm of marina life as a duo. Sam was meant to swing off this week… but as anyone in the maritime world knows — plans are written in the sand at low tide. Instead, he’s been asked to stay on longer. So rather than a reunion, we’re doing the next best thing — dropping a bag of essentials (toothbrush, charger… and most importantly, COFFEE!) at the office so he can grab it on crew change day. Hi and welcome aboard @SailingAstridTheWombat We are Gav and Shezz and two and a half years ago we bought our Beneteau Oceanis 430 sailboat with absolutely no sailing experience and jumped straight into the deep end of liveaboard sailing. Our very first passage was just over 700 nautical miles, launching us headfirst into the world of bluewater cruising, learning to sail, and real life at sea. Since that moment, we’ve been fully immersed in boat life, documenting the journey of turning a production cruising sailboat into a capable, self-sufficient home as we prepare for full-time liveaboard life. From major sailboat upgrades and off-grid power systems to everyday maintenance and skills building, we’re learning what it truly takes to own, sail, and live on a boat while working toward our goal of sailing around the world. If you’re into sailing adventures, beginner sailing, sailboat ownership, cruising lifestyle, and traveling the world by sailboat, our journey is all about real-time learning, ocean freedom, and building the confidence to chase long-term world cruising under sail. Join us for an unforgettable Australia Day long weekend sailing adventure as we set sail for the spectacular Moreton Island Sandhills on our liveaboard sailboat! In this episode of our liveaboard sailing life, we leave the marina behind and head out into Moreton Bay for a relaxing cruising trip, anchoring off the famous sand dunes of Moreton Island. If you love sailing adventures, cruising life, sailboats, off-grid living, and travel by boat, this episode is packed with the kind of experiences that make the liveaboard sailing lifestyle so special. After a beautiful sail across the bay, we drop anchor near the incredible Moreton Island Sandhills, one of the most unique natural landmarks in Queensland. With golden sand dunes rising dramatically behind the beach and crystal clear water surrounding our boat, it’s the perfect spot for a weekend cruising getaway by sailboat. Living aboard full-time means moments like this are why we chose the liveaboard sailing lifestyle as we prepare for our dream of sailing around the world. This trip is extra special because we’re sharing the Australia Day experience with our American friends! What better way to introduce them to this iconic Australian holiday than with a classic Australia Day BBQ on the beach and a game of cricket? From explaining the traditions of the day to enjoying great food, sunshine, and laughter by the water, it’s the perfect mix of sailing adventure, travel, and cultural fun. As liveaboard sailors preparing for long-distance cruising, weekends like this are also about practicing anchoring, exploring new anchorages, and enjoying the freedom that comes with off-grid sailing life. Whether you’re a beginner sailor, a boat owner, or someone dreaming about quitting land life to sail the world, we share the real experiences of living aboard a sailboat and exploring incredible destinations by sea. If you’re passionate about sailing, cruising sailboats, liveaboard life, offshore sailing preparation, and travel adventures, this episode will give you a taste of what it’s like to explore Australia’s coastline by boat. The Moreton Island Sandhills by sailboat are truly a must-visit destination for anyone cruising Moreton Bay. We purchased a bigger RHIB with a centre console when we got back to Georgian Bay. Light enough to hoist on our davit, our CL340 was perfect while sailing. But for bigger/longer dinghy adventures on G-bay, we wanted a proper RHIB with a console and a big water hull. Luckily CO2 had a used Sport 390 that we added a Yamaha F60 to. BUT… it didn’t come with an arch. So we ordered one but it took a bit to get. Today, to save some $$$, I decided to install it myself. With some tips from Les at CO2, it was easy!

Give it a thumbs up if you liked this episode! Boat finally at the new yard, customs still dragging, and somehow we end up testing a gloriously dodgy kite-cam setup in 35-knot gusts. 😅⛵🪁 In this episode of Sailing into Freedom, I head out to the new factory on the edge of Saigon to check on hull 2 and the long-delayed imported gear that’s still trapped in paperwork limbo. It’s a huge moment seeing the boat in her new home at last – a peaceful, green shipyard surrounded by waterways and rice fields – and knowing the real work can finally restart. Then things go full Sailing into Freedom: I rig up a homemade kite camera mount, use a bit of beach foam and some quick maths to fix the camera angle, and immediately discover what happens when impatience, gusty wind and bad ideas meet offshore. There’s also a brutally honest take on GoPro vs DJI Osmo Action, based on actual use in kitesurfing and underwater filming – no fluff, just what failed and what worked. If you’re into catamaran builds, sailing vlogs, DIY boatyard problem-solving, kiteboarding camera setups, and real-world gear reviews from someone who actually abuses the equipment, this one’s for you. #sailing #sailingintofreedom #catamaran #boatbuilding #kitesurfing #actioncamera #gopro #djiosmo #sailingvlog #liveaboard Get your Sailing Into Freedom Crew T-shirt: https://teespring.com/stores/sailing-into-freedom Want more? After a tough start to the season that left Ben injured and out of commission for a couple of weeks, we’re finally back—and back to adventure. This episode picks up with a return to the cabin, where local friends Rod and Alvin take us deeper into life in this rugged part of the world. From checking rabbit traps and ice fishing to hearing firsthand stories of growing up on remote islands, it’s a glimpse into a way of life shaped by isolation, resilience, and community. Then it’s back into the mountains. Steve and Carter set out to find a hidden ice climb they’d previously spotted from the highway—but with no trail and limited time, it turns into a full-on route-finding mission from above, rappelling into the unknown and hoping they’ve landed in the right place. Between setbacks, exploration, and a few hard-earned lessons, this week is about getting back on your feet—and back out there. -------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella started as a wooden boat building project in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve began the journey as an amateur wooden boat builder crafting a 38' wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and now sailing the boat—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that traditional wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project continues beyond the boat shop, as Steve and crew travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. -------------------------- If you are interested in supporting/helping here are a few ways: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/how-to-help Acorn to Arabella's wishlist: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/wishlistpriority TotalBoat supports A2A! Sailing vessel Tapatya This is the story of SV Tapatya, a self-built, Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of our adventures as I live aboard, sail and strive to find out just what such a self-built, low-budget vessel is capable of. In this episode, I tackle a full cooling system service on my boat engine — starting with the raw water (seawater) side, and finishing with the coolant system. What started as “just a quick visit” to the boat turned into: Replacing raw water hoses Flushing the seawater cooling circuit Replacing exhaust hoses Draining the coolant Emptying the water heater lines Refilling and topping up the cooling system All of this while working full-time and preparing for a work trip to Amsterdam. This is real boat ownership — not a marina fantasy. Things take time. Access is tight. Nothing is ever just five minutes. If you own a sailboat or powerboat with an inboard diesel engine, this is a real-world look at maintaining both sides of the cooling system: The raw water (sea) circuit The closed-loop coolant system Step by step. After work. Bit by bit. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 00:00 The plan: full cooling system service 01:04 Replacing raw water hoses 03:59 Flushing the seawater system 05:52 Exhaust hose replacement 11:15 First engine test – checking water flow 14:57 Draining the coolant 17:23 Emptying water heater lines 20:03 Refilling the cooling system 21:38 Quick interior trim replacement 22:49 What’s next: oil, diesel & belt 🔧 WHAT’S NEXT Engine oil change Diesel filter replacement Belt replacement Final engine run & coolant level check #BoatMaintenance #BoatEngine #MarineDiesel #RawWaterCooling #CoolingSystem #BoatLife #SailingLife #DIYBoat #ExhaustHose #EngineService #BoatOwnership Special thanks to Xavi Villanueva Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFuWfLVgIBL6JzolbRqefXw/join

We have 86 days left of our 100 day to launch challenge. Despite many heavy hail showers we made great progress. Both forecabin windows are fully bolted in. The first forward heads window is fully dry fitted. The boards to hold in the insulation are marked. Also we have had a big clear up and the forecabin is full as organised storage. Welcome back to another episode of WE|Sail. EPISODE 334 We're back from Australia, the cook hook is installed, and we're heading deeper into Fiji's outer islands. But this episode isn't about big projects or dramatic sailing. It's about the everyday life aboard our sailboat that we don't always show. Living on a boat full time means doing all the same things you do at home: laundry, meal prep, cleaning, maintenance. Just a little differently. When you're planning to be in remote anchorages for weeks without access to a grocery store, food preservation becomes essential. Bananas and pineapples get cut up and frozen. Fresh produce gets organized and prioritized. We have a washing machine on the boat (yes, really). Laundry day looks pretty similar to life on land, just with more salt air and sunshine. Instead of mowing the lawn, I polish stainless steel to combat the constant salt spray. Instead of running to the hardware store, Warren works through his ongoing maintenance list: checking systems, keeping everything running smoothly. We're the same as everyone else, really. We just happen to be doing it on a sailboat in the middle of the Pacific during cyclone season. And that means being strategic about where we anchor, balancing the desire to explore remote islands with the need for protected anchorages if the weather turns. This is what a normal week looks like for us. The routines, the chores, the systems that keep our floating home comfortable and functional when we're miles from civilization. Not every week is flying to Australia to build boat parts. Most weeks are just... this. The day-to-day life that keeps everything working. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ⚓ Thanks for watching! If you're new here, subscribe to follow our journey through Fiji and beyond. We have 87 days left of our 100 day to launch challenge. Jane is back to insulating and Dave is playing with wind measurement sensor and coding. We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. We have a frequently updated blog at https://sustainablesailing.net with membership options and a weekly newsletter at £2 per month for Early Bird Supporters. A Seawind 1260 Circumnavigation A story from a European couple who set out with big sailing goals and a brand new Seawind 1260, inspiring those who dare to dream... If you're wondering "could this be us?" ...then this interview is for you. Klaus and Andrea didn’t grow up crossing oceans. Before taking delivery of their Seawind 1260 in Vietnam in 2022, their sailing background was limited to short seasonal trips and sailing charters. Yet they made a bold decision: Set sail around the world and place their trust in a proven vessel designed to be a silent partner through the steap learning curve they were taking on. Perhaps what they lacked in years of sailing experience, they made up for in planning, preparation, persistence, teamwork, and ultimate confidence in the platform beneath them. This is not “fun in the sun” cruising. This is real bluewater sailing and a reminder that you don’t need to be born an ocean sailor to become one when you have big dreams, the right mindset and the right boat to turn it all into reality. If you’ve been dreaming about offshore passages but questioning whether you’re ready enough, this story might be the perspective you need. It proves that with the right partner on the water, the transition from coastal dreamer to global explorer is within your reach. In this episode of our sailboat refit, we tackle the prep work for installing new LED lighting throughout the boat, and like most projects on a refit, it turned into more work than expected. To start, we removed two stainless steel light strips in the salon—each holding eight fixtures—and enlarged every mounting hole to fit the new lights. For this, we tried a new tool: a Vevor punch-out tool, which made quick, clean work of resizing the holes and turned out to be a game changer for this kind of job. From there, we worked our way around the perimeter of the salon, widening additional light cutouts and even removing a hanging cabinet to gain access and properly modify the openings. With the holes prepped, we installed new wire harnesses throughout the interior, setting the stage for a clean and reliable lighting system. The cockpit lights got the same treatment, where we used fish tape to run new wiring through tight spaces. The most challenging part of the entire project was feeding wires for the salon’s perimeter lights—tight, hard-to-reach areas that required patience, a flexible fish tape, and a grabber tool to finally get everything in place. This episode is a real look at the behind-the-scenes work required for upgrading sailboat lighting, including cutting, wiring, and problem-solving in confined spaces. It’s not glamorous, but it’s a critical step toward making the boat feel functional, comfortable, and liveable again. With all wiring run and holes prepped, and new LED lights installed, we’re finally ready to reinstall the ceiling panels and bring the interior back together—and that’s a huge milestone after months of teardown. If you’re into sailboat refits, marine electrical projects, DIY boat upgrades, or LED lighting installs, this episode walks through the process, tools, and lessons learned along the way. ⛵💡 00:00 Intro to project 00:33 Channel intro 00:51 Remove stainless steel sheets 01:19 Vevor punch-out tool 04:23 Enlarge holes in wood supports 06:22 Prep lights for installation 07:59 Build wiring harnesses 09:01 Reinstall stainless steel sheets 12:20 Overhead cabinet holes and wires 15:39 Enlarge holes for perimeter lights 17:09 Fish wires through perimeter and cockpit ceiling 18:30 Install lights 19:49 test lights 21:23 Wrap up 22:02 Like, Subscribe, Emoji, Bye! 22:23 End Card ☝More about us, our adventures, and how we do all this on our website.More about Roam here ⛵️https://sailingroam.com/our-sailboat/ 📲 Keep up with us on social FACEBOOK: https://facebook.com/sgsailingroam INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/sailing_roam ----------------------------------------------------------- WE'RE GERI AND SHAWN. Boat life isn’t always turquoise water and smooth sailing… sometimes it’s project after project 😅 In this episode, we tackle a long list of upgrades and repairs—finishing our epoxy countertop, varnishing the fridge top and installing a new gasket, making new dinghy cushions, repairing our headsail, cleaning the heat exchanger, and even bringing our water pump in to get fixed. But it’s not all work. We take breaks to enjoy life in Luperón—horseback riding along Playa Grande, swimming at Playa Chiquita, exploring local restaurants, and celebrating Christmas with friends 🎄 And the best surprise? Our buddy boat finally shows up in Luperón, making it all feel a little more like home. This is real cruising life—the balance between hard work and unforgettable moments. #SailingLife #BoatProjects #SailboatLife #CruisingLife #Liveaboard #BoatWork #Luperon #DominicanRepublic #SailingFamily #LifeAtSea #BoatMaintenance #EpoxyCountertop #BoatRepairs #DinghyLife #ChristmasAbroad #TravelFamily #SailingAdventure #LiveaboardLife #WildlyIntrepid ***************************************** SUPPORT OUR VIDEOS ON PATREON https://www.patreon.com/WildlyIntrepid MAKE A ONE TIME CONTRIBUTION https://www.paypal.me/wildlyintrepid WILDLY INTREPID MERCH https://teespring.com/en-GB/stores/wildly-intrepid HELP us get what we NEED Amazon Wish List https://www.amazon.ca/hz/wishlist/ls/2GTH6AGVPH4LP?ref_=wl_share ***************************************** Subscribe to Join our Intrepid Tribe! https://www.youtube.com/c/WildlyIntrepid?sub_confirmation=1 ***************************************** FOR UPDATES https://www.facebook.com/wildlyintrepid/ https://www.instagram.com/wildlyintrepid/ ***************************************** Defender Marine It's a great place to get your marine supplies from plus we get a small kickback when you buy through our affiliate link. defender.pxf.io/xL9D9v Here is a link to purchase SOK batteries and help out the channel at the same time without costing you anything extra. https://www.us.sokbattery.com/?ref=zS7whJNCsEGFPu BougeRV FOR 32% OFF ON all ED series and CRD series fridge and battery CODE: Wildly Or use link:https://bit.ly/3ZYruez UNOWIX batteries use the Promo Code UNOWIX10 for an extra 10% discount. Every builder should appreciate a traditional Kiridashi marking knife. In this video on The Art of Boat Building, I step away from the hull and into the workshop to craft a traditional Kiridashi marking knife. Starting with raw steel, I walk through the full process of shaping, grinding, heat treating, and sharpening this deceptively simple but incredibly precise tool. The kiridashi has long been valued for its clean, accurate lines perfect for joinery, layout work, and the kind of detail that defines true craftsmanship. This build isn’t just about making a knife it’s about honoring the tools that make fine work possible. Whether you’re building boats, furniture, or anything in between, the right marking tool can elevate your accuracy and your results. If you enjoy craftsmanship, hand tools, and the process behind the build, you’re in the right place. “If you’re going to make it, make it beautiful.” Bob Emser As an advocate for backyard boat builders I offer a free 30 minute chat about your project.
