It’s very hard to get really accurate flight control so where’s the sweet spot there between having too much immersion and slowing the boat down but not falling off the foil? Sailing offshore with only two people onboard can be a challenging thing. When one person sleeps, the other is, in charge of the boat, completely on their own. Ideally we do 6 hours on and 6 hours off. And let me tell you this midnight to 6AM shift is not easy. But now that we’ve got a baby on board following this watch cycle is just not feasible, which means that on our 48 hour sail from Sicily to Greece, I’m going to be in charge of the boat for most of that time all on my own. And Desiree is going to have to take care of Isabella all on her own. And finally we really don’t know how Isabella is going to handle all of this. So if we’re going to sail the world as a family, we’re going to have to find a new rhythm for passage making, or else everything that we’ve worked so hard for is going to have to be put on hold.
