We then sail to Long Island, Bahamas. After a few days we drop him off at the airport and sail down the west side of Long Island in some rough seas. We catch several fish trolling in deep waters before making it to ship wreck anchorage. We have our first official all night sail as we make our way through the out islands. We meet some good peoples and explore the damage of crooked island after a hurricane in 2015. We have some real talk about life aboard over a few very expensive Bahamian beers. We navigate through "breakers" and coral reefs as we make way south. We officially make it to Mayaguana and leave the Bahamas. Music Credits: Scott Holmes "Happy Ukulele" Sul Rebel "Rebel Blues"

This episode features days 7-9 of our journey as we continue to travel south to the Keys. We find beautiful anchorages along the way and dodge knarly squalls, too! So much about boatlife is weather dependent, so we miss out exploring Key Biscayne and Stiltsville due to the storms. Thanks for watching! We come across beautiful sailing country with red dirt, aqua waters, so so many fish, and navigate through uncharted waters! Wow it gets a bit nerve racking when your going into shallow areas and navigating through sand banks and river mouths that ends up being amazing anchorages. Thanks for watching! Please share our adventure, we only hope to inspire people to follow your dreams, we live pretty easy and on a budget on a simple catamaran enjoying the fruits of life! So only good vibes please. This is our 7th attempt to leave for our epic adventure to the Bahamas! Our truck is fixed with a new alternator, battery and removed cadillac converter. TODAY IS OUR DAY!!!! WE CAN DO IT THIS TIME, I JUST KNOW IT!!!! .....ok...so maybe not....we thought we could. While pulling out onto the road we came to a stop sign. When we pressed on the brakes, the trailer brakes locked up causing the boat to jerk heavily and make an awful screeching sound! We found out later that with the new alternator putting out FULL power, unlike our old one, the electric trailer brakes had enough power to spin the improperly installed axels! It also pulled out some of the brake wiring. Sadly this isn't going to be a "quick fix and get back on the road in no time" sort of a project. We ended it up taking the trailer to a repair shop and had to leave it over night. They wouldn't let us spend the night on the boat in their yard, so we decided to get a hotel for the night. Which brings me to the title of the video! Story short, we ended up walking into someone else's room!!! 🔒 Moral of the story: ALWAYS DEAD BOLT YOUR HOTEL ROOM DOOR!! *********************************************************************** THANK YOU for watching our videos and for SUBSCRIBING to our YouTube channel! Music by mAsis (https://soundcloud.com/masismusic) Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world. I make travel vlogs sharing my ups and downs, adventures on motorbikes, sailboats, and vans. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly? A: I travel really cheap, free camping, cooking my own meals, being as efficient as possible. I make my income almost entirely on YouTube but it's really tight. Ad revenue, patreon, paypal donations, merchandise sales and affiliate links bring in about as much as a part time minimum wage job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, Nikon D810, Sony RX100 iii, DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, Underwater Housing, tripods and lights. - What is your bike? 1999 Yamaha Vstar XVS1100 with a Champion Escort sidecar. - What're your plans? Buy a boat, fix it up, sail off into the sunset. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live on the road with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make some decisions, avoiding places that ban dogs, and spending more time out in nature instead of in the cities. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go separate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The top perk on my Patreon page is a live link of my location on google maps so you can get an active idea of where I am currently. If that's not an option for you there's also Instagram and Instagram stories that give you a much better idea of what I'm up to today.
Ahoy, next point on my TO DO list was to rebuild my holding tank. For years now this job was on it, but I needed the room to work on it and now the transmission is out I have it. So why the hell am I doing such a shitty Job? I was questioning myself this a few times.. but there was a good reason to do it and now it's all done I couldn't be any happier.. We sailed over to the Island of Bastimentos and head into the indigenous village of the Ngöbe-Buglé people. One of the locals leads us into the jungle in search of sloths, monkeys and poison dart frogs. T We're in the Ngöbe Buglé village of Salt Creek (in Spanish Quebrada Sal) and we're heading up the hill for a jungle tour through the rainforest. Our guide is a villager who's lived on Isla Bastimentos his entire life. From the village to Puta Vista we're hoping to see sloths, monkeys, poisonous red dart frogs and who knows what else. We're super excited to have some land-time, get some hiking in and capture something cool. We hope you find this short hike through the jungle as fascinating as we did. Let us know what you think in the comments below...we love hearing from fellow travelers and dreamers. A huge thanks goes out to YOU! We couldn't continue to share without your support. In this episode we have a scary night sail to Luperon, Dominican Republic with bigger seas and stronger winds than forecast. After an accidental jibe, one of our battens comes loose and almost goes overboard. Meanwhile underwater our recent engine troubles seem to also have included the sheering off of our starboard rudder. (more details on our Patreon page). The worst part about it is we don’t know its gone and we can’t figure out why we are loosing control of our steering. This is one of the scariest and most stressful night passages we have had yet, when we finally make it to Luperon it's a huge relief... You don’t want to miss this episode! EXCITING NEWS from Saltair 3! The Crew of Saltair 3 Brad, Krista and Cole, are now accepting inquiries into our new branch of this sailing life. We are offering week long stays aboard Saltair 3 where you can learn from what we have learnt, see what we see and explore the way we do aboard our 42' Catamaran with your own Private cabin. Locations and opportunities will vary but this Winter we will be cruising the 2nd longest barrier reef in the world along the coast of Belize and the beautiful islands it holds. Then up the jungle clad Rio Dulce (river) into Guatemala with howler monkeys on the river banks and locals selling their wares out of dug out canoes. An Epic adventure for sure! The 2017 New Year Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan, Thailand. We left most of the sound intact to give a feel for the party and what it was like. For the record, a lot of our friends had minor burns as well as some of us being separated before the fireworks, but it was a good laugh, fantastic fun and we will be going again. I highly recommend going, but be careful. First attempt at video editing.
Episode 5 continues on from our Montenegro drama as we have to sail back up to Croatia after being denied entry… We take things one step at a time and manage to eventually clear in, sort a new flight and also find a marina with space for us for the next week as Adam flies off for another week of work. When we eventually get back, we get a tip from the local taxi driver of this super small town and head straight to the second longest wall in the world in Slano. Then the next stop is Greece (skipping Montenegro this time!) where we again seem to have trouble clearing customs and checking in… Jinxed?!?! E55 Weekly Vlog of Life in a Nutshell travels. Join Magnus and Wendy as they take you on an extreme off road motorbike tour across the vast continent of Australia, through four vast deserts, along less traveled roads and gnarly tracks. This episode sees Magnus and Wendy organising the last preparations for the trip, a 4.30am start to the 17 day tour which traverses the great ancient land. The first leg of the journey leaves from the picturesque tourist town of Airlie Beach at dawn and makes its way through cattle country to the old town of Longreach. We hope you enjoying traveling along with us both as we share many of the remote and often unseen areas of the Australian Outback with you all. Thank you all so much for watching. When setting up a PA for the first time it is absolutely essential that you gain as much information about all of the parts as possible. This couldn't be more true for basic sound enthusiasts that want to throw a bunch of un-verified & un-examined speakers and cabling together and rush out to do a rock show. They quickly find themselves on the "diagnostic" side of the mixer and that makes for a long night and not very many friends. A tool that has been in my tool bag from the very beginning is the Galaxy Audio "Cricket". A fantastic cord checker and polarity checker. it is easy to check woofer type speakers outside of the box but with this tool - you can leave the speakers as they are and test them in minutes. This becomes even more amazing when you check horn drivers. Never underestimate the power of a great cord & polarity checker! You MUST check your polarity! Want to learn more? Check out my website @ http://www.soundasylumlive.com Pick up the Galaxy Audio Cricket here: https://amzn.to/2QQBYJH * I do these basic principle videos so that beginners can learn How To Make Their Bar PA Kick Butt. https://amzn.to/373CGZv More times than not - we have to start out with older used gear and don't have the luxury of buying $20-30,000 speakers where the manufacturer has thoroughly worked out the details we so desire. So in this process - we use what we have & it takes knowledge to make it work correctly. So, I will post videos about my journey & experiences. Hope you like it! #SOUNDSYSTEMOPTIMIZATION #LIVESOUNDMIXING #POLARITY
