The Rock Adventure Cruise 18 April 2018. We had a small number but no less fun and excitement was had! Started off with a beautiful morning on the water, then into the water for snorkelling. There's something mesmorising about having fish swim around you and feeding them freshly opened kina out of your hand. Kina (sea urchin or Uni as it's otherwise known) was collected for tasting back on The Rock. It's alway so interesting to see the facial reactions of people when they try kina for the first time. The Rock Adventure Cruise 16/17 April 2018 - Danish Studie Centre Our final cruise of the season with groups from the Danish Studie Centre. So much fun for our crew hosting these groups and these guys we no exception! Gorgeous afternoon for some competitive target shooting followed by fishing as the the sun set. The night was topped off with family dinner & relaxing. Up and at it nice and early, snorkelling with the locals;) (fish & other sealife) and collecting Kina for tasting. A visit to Motuarohia was next, the short hike up the hill is well worth it for the stunning panoramic views. Leisurely trip back to the wharf and we bid farewell to our guests. Long story short, we never got our bimini, so several panels have been sitting useless in our quarter berth. Suaoki sent us a solar panel (100w Solar Panel Charger) and portable battery/inverter (150Wh Power Station), and we’ve been surprised at how useful they’ve been for us — even after upgrading our power system. Since we haven’t been able to use all of our panels meant for the bimini, the Suaoki panel’s 100 watts have given us the extra bit of power we’ve needed to keep our batteries charged — meaning no stays needed in marinas just to recharge our house bank. The portable battery/inverter has also proven its weight. Lauren recently needed to access an old hard drive that required 120v. If we didn’t have Suaoki’s power station, crazily enough we would have needed to trek ashore to find a cafe with an outlet to turn it on. Eventually we made it to a beautiful deserted anchorage on the southern tip of Penang where we watched a white-bellied sea eagle feeding its young as the sun went down.
