Since the launch of the class in 2007 Team Aqua has been carbon neutral by working with the World Land Trust to off-set the carbon footprint they create when traveling around Europe with the Tour. In 2010 Team Aqua proudly joined forces with 2041, a charity headed up by Arctic Explorer Robert Swan, whose mission is to raise awareness of the threat to the Arctic and the Antarctic as a result of global warming. And since 2012, they have been using a water filtration system, developed in-house, along with reusable water bottles. In this time, they estimate saving 18,000 single-use​ bottles. Owner Chris Bake and tactician Cameron Appleton explain why the project is important to the team.

With our new crew member being on board for a week by this stage, we sail to a new island home to celebrate Bonita's Birthday! The anchorage is much too deep to anchor, but as it is surrounded by tall steep cliffs and protected from all winds, we decide to try something new! We tie the bow and stern off to the mangroves and don't use the anchor at all! Tied up securely, right on the edge of the reef, we have a floaty party in this amazing geographical location. We float around in the stunning lagoon, go snorkelling and generally enjoy our time here celebrating Bonita's birthday. We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We just arrived to Indonesia after cruising the Pacific islands. We departed Australia 12 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some amazing people and experienced cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of no where, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! This week we finally tackle the recently discovered rotted stringers under the galley settee. In this video, we explore what is really going on under the floor/sole. We also come up with a strawman plan on how to go about replacing the rotted stringers. This video includes diagrams of the structure, video of it and my contemplation on how to resolve the issue. After removing the rotted stringers, we determine the right wood to use, cut new ones, round them for fiberglass, and start the process of cutitng the old fiberglass and preparing for the new install.
