We are coming to the bittersweet end of the tour of the Southwest just after our epic trip to Havasupai Falls. Heading back out on Route 66 towards St. George just after a quick visit to Antelope Canyon, Erica heads out for a girls bachelorette weekend while Warren explores the St. George area solo. Without skipping a beat, the two rejoice again and head to conclude the Southwest with exploring Dixie National Forest, Bryce Canyon, Escalante and then off to Moab for our last big bike ride over the Whole Enchilada. Utah continues to amaze us with the incredible landscapes of Bryce Canyon National park to Jacob Hamblin Arch and the slot canyon of Escalante.

Tonga Take 2: We depart Maupihaa for a now 1100nm crossing to Tonga after our impromptu stop to fix our water pipe and refill our tanks. The new crew are dosed up on seasick pills which is just as well cause it’s a rough ride! Awesome wind pushing us along but a terrible sea state that keeps us on our toes. After 3-4 days it settles down somewhat, but maintaining that awesome breeze to encourage us straight towards the cruising mecca of Vava’u, Tonga. Am 29.06.2018 fand das Richtfest vom neuen Clubhaus statt. Auch während des Krantermins am 03.11.2018 wurde fleißig weiter gearbeitet! Wir heißen zwar Segler-Club Oberspree e.V (SCO), liegen aber an der Unterhavel. Das der SCO an der Unterhavel liegt ist Umständen zu verdanken, die typisch für die Berliner Geschichte sind. Gegründet wurde der SCO am 24. Juni 1906 im Restaurant "Zu den drei Linden" in Grünau. 1912 wurde die Große Rohrwall-Insel in der Dahme, am südöstlichen Rande Berlins gepachtet, gleichzeitig wurde der SCO Gründungsmitglied des "Deutschen Segler-Bundes", der später in den Deutschen Segler-Verband aufging und stellte dort für zehn Jahren mit Robert Höfer sogar den Bundesvorsitzenden. Der Große Rohrwall nun ging nach dem Krieg in die Verfügungsgewalt der DDR über, was die im westlichen Berlin wohnenden Mitglieder motivierte, 1954 den "Segler-Club Oberspree e.V." in West-Berlin zu gründen. 1966 konnte ein Grundstück in Berlin-Kladow gepachtet und wenige Jahre später mit einem in Eigenarbeit erstellten Clubhaus ausgestattet werden. After leaving Cape Verde, we headed due west aiming for Martinique in the Carribbean. a few hundred miles into the second leg, our tracker stopped working and a passing yacht kindly sent a sattellite message home for us. Hanging around Waiheke and getting used to home schooling. We are also waiting for more school work to be sent to us. We are a family of six who are taking some time out of normal life to travel. We’ve pulled the kids from school and are home schooling while on the road and the water. We spend time aboard our 34ft sailing boat in NZ and have bought a motorhome in Europe so as to tour the other side of the world. We’re keeping our memories on video here and the kids write narration and play guitars so we have music to use in the videos.

The Hanse 315 e-motion rudder drive takes the way sailing yachts are powered to the next level. Developed with our partners Jefa and Torqeedo, she is equipped with an electric engine that replaces the conventional diesel propulsion system, as well as the sail propulsion system.
