No reservations, no plans where to stay. So we became village crashers. In fact two lovely families let us crash in their home. Cape Verdeans are some of the most friendly, generous and hospitable people. We got an idea of how they live. It's different than what I'm used to and refreshing. We then get a look at another part of this most incredible island of Santa Antao. Please make your voice heard: Subscribe, like, dislike, or comment. A few months back Mantus Anchors (https://www.mantusmarine.com) sent us one of their anchors. We've traveled more than 1000 miles since installing it and wanted to share our experience. The twist here is that the Mantus anchor is half the weight of our previous anchor! Sometimes bigger isn't always better. | Season 3 | Episode 52 On this episode we leave Vaxholm and make the final push for me to Stockholm. A casual few hours of motoring, we made our way through the busy waterways that lead you into Stockholm's center and pulled into Wasahamnen Marina. After getting the boat all tied up I went exploring the docks and the beautiful lightship before finally visiting the incredible VASA museum. The VASA was one of the largest sailing ships ever made at its time and its attempt at size was its undoing as she sank less than a mile from where she weighed anchor. Now show sits in the museum for all of us to see her beautiful hull and details. https://www.vasamuseet.se/en Not long after that I was carrying my bags off of Arcturus and stepping off of her deck for the last time. It was a wild trip and I am grateful for having the opportunity to sailing in such magical place. I hope to find myself back in Åland one day on my own boat. São Jorge was never an island we planned to visit. We hadn't given it a second thought until friends of ours stayed in bungalows there and raved about it's undeniable lush beauty. There aren't many harbors to drop anchor in the Azores, and when our limited space is threatened in Sao Jorge, we race to get a place! Since we can't seem to find a long enough window to get to Ireland, we trade it for the rolling green hills of Sao Jorge. Leaving the harbor of Angra on the island of Terceria just as the sun comes up, we make the 55 mile journey to Velas on Sao Jorge, fighting the setting sun and the limited space in their anchorage. Although we are able to make some good miles under sail between the islands, once we come along the coast of Sao Jorge we are head on into the winds and have to pound into the waves until they settle. Claiming our spot that evening, we reunite with Bill & Grace of s/v Calico skies, and hunt down a good watering hole for the evening. The next afternoon under sunny skies, Bill comes to grab us in his dinghy for a few hours of snorkeling. We check out a few rocks near the harbor, and the big monte. Later that evening we are picked up by Phillip who transfers us to the town of Urzelina, where he rents out the sets of bungalows Bill and Grace and previously stayed in. Filling ourselves up on 1 euro beers and sangrias, we wander past the windmills on the coast, framed by Pico in the background, and wonder what a life on this island would be like. Much love from the Azores! Jessica, Matt & Georgie Thank you SO MUCH to our Patrons. These amazing supporters help keep us on the boat, our camera equipment up to date, and the videos coming. IMPI is sailing the world (Some 7 years full time now) - and in this series we are sailing in Tasmania - located in the Roaring 40's. St Helens is a small and quaint little town but getting in there by boat can be treacherous. A number of boats have come to grief here but the local VMR (Volunteer Marine Rescue) authority offers a helping hand in the form of a 'follow me boat'. Of course this begins with a radio message saying they take no responsibility which is fair enough, but hearing all the stories of bats seeing out their last days here makes one 'sit up straight'. We love engaging with our social media friends and we share some moments with local Australians we met through social media. Of course all this goes a long way in terms of networking and a lot of fun can be had. We cover some aspects of the weather we were facing and how we look at weather in order to plan a safe passage. We use satellite technology so we understand the lay out of the land if something should go wrong .. a back up plan is always great to have. I also want to thank the amazing Musicians who have permitted us to use their 'cool' music - thank you guys ... links to follow below. Norman and Pip are Australian sailors who have sailed extensively up and down the coast of Australia and have a great understanding of bar crossings - we share a video where Norm says 'he was caught out' by some sudden swells. We dropped the anchor and spent a calm evening in a protected, but gusty anchorage. We were excited to find this little spot, because of it's proximity to No Name Cay. We had recently found out that there are pigs living on the island, much like the more popular and well known pigs at Big Major Spot in the Exumas. There were a lot more pigs here in the Abacos, but they were definitely more smelly, gross and aggressive. There were lots of cute baby pigs to look at, but we were not able to get very close to many of them due to the mother pigs being very protective of them. After a very brief pig diversion we got back to our more important task of finding dinner. One thing that we've really noticed in the Abacos is how much more reef access there is compaired to the Exumas. We motored around to the outer windward side of No Name Cay were there is no shortage of fish filled reefs and again easy access to tons of dive moorings. After catching a fish for dinner we motored back to Turtle to find that our boat had moved about 200 feet from where we left it. It is a mystery to us how it randomly moved, even after being anchored there all night in gusty conditions. Our guess at the time was that one of the boats anchored next to us must have snagged our anchor line when they left the anchorage. The weather forecast is showing the wind boxing the campus during the next couple of days, so we want to make sure we are in a well protected anchorage. White Sound looks like it will be the perfect spot for us, but we have to wait for high tide to get in through the channel with our 5' keel. Upon dropping anchor at White Sound we noticed that our anchor wasn't catching the bottom at first. Randall dove on the anchor once we got a good tug, and found that our anchor was snagged on a large piece of chain. It is probably the only thing that stopped us from dragging further in the pudding like bottom. He also found a lot of random junk on the bottom of the bay, like an outboard motor, and engine block, and lots of chain and ropes. We later found out that this anchorage has a history of boats dragging and probably isn't the safest place to leave your boat during storms. Who knows, maybe the bottom at Settlement Harbour has a similar bottom too. We are so relieved to have found such a well protected anchorage and we're looking forward to exploring this island and taking it easy for the next couple of days while we wait for the weather. _____________________________________________________ MUSIC USED: "Highlights" & "Point of View" & "These moments" by: Nicolai Heidlas LINK: ~https://www.hooksounds.com/royalty-free-music/highlights/644918/ ~https://www.hooksounds.com/royalty-free-music/point-of-view/48939/ ~https://www.hooksounds.com/royalty-free-music/these-moments/31565/ ******************************************************** Affiliate links have been added to this description to help our viewers find products shown in our videos. “As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.” Thank you. ********************************************************

The Sea of Cortez - known as the Gulf of California - is a breathtaking destination for scuba diving, snorkeling, and exploration. Legendary diver Jacques Cousteau described the Sea of Cortez as the "world's aquarium". Dive on untouched walls and reefs abounding in marine life. Encounter large and small whale species, snorkel with whale sharks, dive with playful sea lion colonies and see countless eels, octopus, fish and jumping mobula rays. It's a macro photographers dream with nudibranchs, colorful blennies, dancing jawfish and sea horses.

The spectacular weather just keeps giving! Great cruise with Skipper Nic & crew Austin, Marius & Sondra. Wonderful experience being able to witness a stingray in its natural habitat just cruising along the sea floor. All in all, a fantastic cruise with fantastic guests! We hope to see you all again soon Video Credit: Arthur Maclean https://www.rocktheboat.co.nz/

Wonderful cruise with a great group of guests. Lots of fish caught and kissed. Beautiful evening for a night kayak after a delicious dinner! The next morning we welcomed our Day Cruisers who joined us. Snorkelling gave us an opportunity to cool down and see the marine life up close. Kina tasting all around on the cruise home, it's quite an acquired taste for most! We loved hosting you and hope to see you all again soon. The Patron extended 26 minute video is available at https://www.patreon.com/Sailmermaid There was a storm reported from the north as Felicia arrived in Pollensa to join me on Mermaid. So we didn't waste any time but set sail the minute she got on and headed off south, turning the peak at Cala Ratjada. Winds had already picked up and we got some good sail winds on our way. And just before entering Cala Ratjada our Lazy Jacks broke, something that resulted in me having to climb the mast... Removing a thru hull that has been glued in with 5200 is today's challenge. This is an example of how NOT to install a thru hull. Improperly installed thru hulls can cause catastrophic failure while sailing. Always use a bolted seacock and 4200 to seal it. The Contest 42CS is the Contest 42CS motoring smallest boat of the amazing range of sailing yachts built by Contest Yachts, the historic Dutch shipyard that, for almost 60 years, has been manufacturing what are probably among the best sailing yachts in the world. To fully understand such a big statement, that we cannot refrain from justifying, we must must be able to explain you the reasons why. When assessing a sailboat, you should never overlook its construction, the way it sails and, last but not least, the capacity of the shipyard to design yachts that can make your heart beat at first glance.

We've been nominated for an award!! We'd love your support. You can click here to vote: http://bit.ly/BestTravelCategory Join us for a flashback to the past, on our sail up to the Berry Islands. One thing we've realised since we started travelling is that its really not all about the destination... it's about the journey. All the struggles, the mistakes, the sleepless nights. Those are what make it an adventure. Those times of struggle are what you remember. They're what make you appreciate the destination all the more. We don't sit down with our friends over a beer and tell them all about the holiday we had where everything went right and we laid around the pool and got a tan all weekend, do we! Whats your favourite moment we've shared with you on SLV?
