First passage of the new winter season: Maryland to Florida, USA. After 6 weeks boat preparation and stocking up in Herrington Harbour North Marina, we are finally on our way south just as winter seems to be starting. Tricky exit through the marina channel shoals and our journey starts with a wonderful sail to christen the new season, blasting our way down the Chesapeake at 9kts, with a strong following wind. After a night in Deltaville the weather has calmed and we motor all the way to Cape Hatteras, rounding its notorious shoals in a complete calm. The calm continues through the night, but we do manage to sail again coming into the quaint town of Beaufort, North Carolina. Here we celebrate Thanksgiving with the local OCC port officer, Diane. From Beaufort we take another overnight passage to Charleston where we are weather bound for several days and continue some jobs on the boat, most notably wiring-in the new remote-control system for furling the sails. From Charleston, one more overnight passage gets us into St. Augustine, Florida, where we enjoy a few days cycling, a nice dinner with the OCC port officers Tim & Tracy and a few more days hiding from weather. 24 Nov - 14 Dec 2019

E.P 112 So it's our first week living aboard Lady Africa on the water & it definitely has been taking some getting use to. Besides the rocking to sleep, I have had to get used to all the sounds of the ocean and barnacles around me.. We get started on finishing up a few tasks we have left such as our horseshoe life rings, connecting up our deck shower and deck wash, Ricky climbs up the mast to fix up our VHF connection. Install our transducer (thankfully we didn't sink the boat) We obviously sort out some of our fishing gear & Ricky goes for his first surfing lesson... He didn't manage to convince me to get him a board.. maybe I'll let him have another go at it. 🤣😉 See ya next week!! Play around and you’ll see that these 360’s allow you to look in every direction – left, right, above, below – as if you are actually aboard. You can look closer and zero in on the details of interest and easily skip to the next location. Please think of this as a photo album that is not a collection of one directional images that you have to click on one at a time. This process is easier, faster and a more efficient way for you to spend your time versus the old method of clicking on 360 photos one at a time and waiting for them to load. There is background music instead of voice overs so that you can jump around without missing anything. Hopefully you’ll agree this is a cool new way for you to view our listings and gives you the ability to stop and look around, or to let it flow seamlessly room to room. Four weeks before the Tall Volcano Erupts in the Philippines, we managed to visit the beautiful city of Tagaytay. The Taal Volcano erupted last January 12, 2020. A view of Taal Volcano from Tagaytay City as it spewed thick clouds of ash on the next day. A lot of people need to be evacuated at alert level 4. So there is a risk of a bigger eruption later on. And a 14km no-man zone has been established due to the risk of ashfall. Let us pray for the people in Batangas. We visited Perfect Day at CocoCay in December 2019. Here's a review of the Thrill Water Park. As a family with 4 kids, visiting a water park (or anywhere) can be challenging, but the Thrill Water Park was perfect for us. At the time, our kids ages ranged from 12 to 7 and they all had a blast. We were a bit worried about them getting lost, but the Thrill Water Park is fenced in and you have to have your sea-pass card to get in or out. There were plenty of available seats so it wasn't hard to find a chair to make it "home base" for the kids when they needed us. The lockers are complementary and you can set a passcode on the lockers, so no key necessary. Just get them early, first come, first serve. They were big enough for a backpack and a few more items. The wave pool was really nice and had a concrete pad that goes down into the water so you don't end up too sandy. There was plenty of shade too everywhere on the island so we didn't have to worry much about getting too hot. Daredevil's tower is really tall. I counted 14 flights of stairs to the top. The ride is amazing though - definitely worth the climb and the views from the top are incredible. Our kids enjoyed the rest of the slides on the tower too and rode them over and over. We loved Splash Summit that contains the Slingshot, Twister and Speedway slides. We did the Slingshot first. The tubes are carried to the top by an automatic conveyer belt so we didn't have to carry anything to the top. Depending on how much your group weighs, you may have to take two tubes instead of one. For our family of 6, we had to to 3 at a time. (probably all of that MDR weight!!) The speedway ride has the shortest lines. Just grab a mat from the bottom and head up the stairs. There are different sized mats so pick one that fits you. The Twister slide uses tubes and single or double tubes are available. We had lunch at the Snack Shack in Thrill Water Park. We had heard of a secret menu item: the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich... basically, order a chicken sandwich and a side order of cheese sticks with marinara sauce and put the cheese sticks and sauce on the chicken sandwich. Mmmm so good! The kids loved the burgers, fries and enormous cookies. All free. The Adventure Pool was a favorite of our kids and is in between the Splash Summit and the Wave Pool. We liked it because the kids were able to play there while we got a bite to eat and we could keep an eye on them. The Adventure Pool has a rock climbing wall, lilli-pad stepping stones to cross the water, rope swings and more. We did get to see a bit of the Chill Island, but we've already booked two more cruises WITHOUT KIDS so we can go relax there and really check it out. Happy Cruising!
