On the smooth seas and dodging fishing nets on our way, it turns out to be a pants dropper!! https://www.sailingnandji.com/ In this episode of Sailing Nandji, our visas are up in Thailand and we need to do the typical sailing visa run in the area to Langkawi. We never thought we would be heading back to this land after spending 3 months in the boatyard here and honestly when we left, the last thing we could ever think of was coming back to Langkawi. But as our story evolves and plans change, we need to return to the island once again. With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we have returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south to Chagos and across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! The adventure is just beginning as we plan to sail our Nandji girl around the world!! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! EPISODE #112 ; A Peaceful Sail Home... (Also, Camille parks the Boat for the first time!) Hello Friends, On this weeks episode we leave Emerald Bay and head back home. As soon as we leave the anchorage we are met with 12 - 15 knot winds and happily sail hard until they give out a mile or so off shore. The winds turned out to be an offshore breeze created by the island but it was fun while it lasted. We enjoyed a lovely warm sail home just enjoying the water and the weather and as the afternoon approached winds came up to between 8 - 10 and we had a wonderful sail home. Mittlerweile sind wir in La Gomera angekommen und segeln nach La Palma. Anfang April 2019 segelten wir nach La Graciosa! Nun sind wir auf den kanarischen Inseln. Natürlich stehen alle 8 Inseln auf dem Törnplan. Wir segelten mit unserer HR 43 Mola Mola einige Jahre im Ärmelkanal und besonders gerne in Südengland! Seit 2017 haben wir nun mehr Zeit und so ist es uns möglich unser Revier beliebig zu vergrößern. Wir reisen gerne in kleinen Etappen, um möglichst viel von Land und Leuten kennenzulernen. Begeistert sind wir von der Atlantikküste bis nach Gibraltar. Ein oft unterschätztes Revier mit unendlich vielen, schönen Orten und Ankerplätzen! Die kanarischen Inseln lassen uns oft in einen regelrechten Landschaftsrausch verfallen und der Atlantik zeigt uns immer wieder was er so drauf hat! Das Revier ist seglerisch anspruchsvoll! Die nächsten 2 1/2 Jahre werden wir nutzen um den Pazifik zu durchqueren, den indonesischen Raum zu erkunden und letztendlich nach der Umrundung des Kap der guten Hoffnungen wieder Fuß auf europäisches Land zu setzen. Bambola Quatre was the beautiful, wonderful, Moody 36, designed by Angus Primrose in which I sailed the Caribbean from Trinidad to Key West. We left Darwin and headed for West Timor in My Angus Primrose Moody 36. Very slow sail with little wind and far too far to motor. Then into Indonesia and dropped anchor at Komodo and spent a day visiting Komodo Dragons! Seriously big lizards. and onto Bali and Phuket via Malasia...
