Blake and Toby go to Kawau Island in search for wallabies, they also find a peacock (peafowl) and show you the ruins from the copper mine, smelter and underground tunnels. The find a wallaby and follow it through the forest on the island. It keeps hopping away each time they get close. Wallabies are native to Australia and are part of the Kangaroo family. Sir Governor Grey introduced them to Kawau Island. Blake and Toby also give you some insight on the 4.5 hour and 31 mile journey from Pineharbour in Beachlands to Kawau Island in the Hauraki Gulf, Auckland. The wind was 25-30 knots, so a quick 6-7 knot boat speed the whole way! We are two brothers, aged 4 and 7, who love going on sailing family adventures - exploring the outdoors and finding super cool wild animals, bugs and marine life. So along with our parents, we’re sailing the world, exploring islands, and looking for interesting wildlife. We start our adventure sailing New Zealand but dream of sailing around the Mediterranean some day. We love our planet and want to look after our environment, so through our travels we hope other kids will feel inspired to care for our planet and wildlife too. Have you recently run aground? Do you have holes in your boat? This video might be for you! In this episode, we show off our wood patching and paint removal skills in greater detail. Same as last time, please excuse or rough editing and videos during session 1 😁 If you are new, check out our other videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLg2UHSaE8S24ExYjjZaOS4b0PjzIbc-11 Best names for our hole? - Cash Flow - Money Pit - Seathrough - Keel-holed - Swim-Up Bar Quick Notes: Paint Removal - We mentioned 3-4 hours to sand about 30 sqft, just a note that is 3-4 hours of sanding time after treating and scraping 2 layers of Jasco. Also, Amanda is not using and paint remover on the white areas of the hull as she is still maintaining about a 10sqft/hr pace. Wood Patches - plywood is supposed to have a 12:1 taper while fiberglass is closer to 8:1. This taper prevents the patch from being pushed in under great pressure. patches do not need to fit perfectly, but you want to try to match them as best as possible to get the most adhesion. while using bare wood, be sure to treat exposed wood with resin prior to placement to maximize adhesion. A big thank you to the sailing community this far, we have had enormous amounts of support and cannot be grateful enough! We have some great stories to share next week about how incredible these people are! Like our content? With the them of the RYA Dinghy Show being 'where will sailing take you?', here is the next interview in our series. This is Nick Ironside, a marine engineer from Largs who is currently in Holland working on a new build yacht which they will hopefully take to Auckland once it's ready. Find out what he has been up to lately, and what his connection with Alex Thompson Racing is...
The RYA Dinghy Show is just around the corner and we are interviewing a number of the former Scottish Topper Squad members to see how their sailing career is going and what they have been up to since they left the Squad. Here is Alex Still, or Chucky as we know him, who learned to sail at Royal Gourock in a blue Topper (don't see them so much nowadays). He has spent the last 4 years on a 115m superyacht and had many adventures around the world!

This video describes how King Propulsion, the US agent for Bruntons Propellers designs and manufactures sailboat propellers. In the video, we describe the 3 types of sailboat propellers offered from custom fixed pitch propellers, folding sailboat propellers and Autoprop feathering sailboat propellers. Unlike any sailboat propeller manufacturer we offer every type of propeller so we can give an unbiased recommendation for your sailboat.

December 2018 Before we left Florida for our travels at sea, Sparticus, our 15 year old Yorkshire Terrier, took a turn for the worst. In this video, we said goodbye. This was and is still an emotionally difficult video to have created, and edited. We miss him everyday and while we know we did the right thing for him, it is still painful and reminds us we have an empty space in this boat, in this life, without him. For all of you who have had to say goodbye to your best friend, we know your pain. Til the Heavenly Bridge that rejoins us, fair winds my sweet Sparticus, my little Snuffleupagus, Lil Dude, Sweat Pea, Cranky Fart, and all the other stupid yet loving nicknames I gave you. Mama misses you. And Daddy too.

Crossing the Yellow Banks from Nassau we're watching out for coral heads. Its over 30 miles across and we get the drone in the air to see what the coral looks like from above. We also visit the Berry Islands - where we visited 30 years earlier and first realized we could have a little corner of paradise all to ourselves. We dive in a Blue Hole which is in the middle of the island. Cape Verde is a relatively poor country, but it's rich in music. Wealthy in friendliness and loaded with beauty. Natacha made friends with Sarah, a French compatriot from their home port of Marseille. And she introduced us to Anton and Oswald who took us on a road trip to the town of Santiago where we discovered Gospel, gifts and Grog. Later I went for a stroll to see more of Tarrafal and a closer look at a swell surf spot. Some say it’s The Best Sailing Channel on YouTube! After the Annapolis boat show we were fortunate enough to be able to take a very popular catamaran, the Seawind 1260 for a test sail. The conditions were calm and warm and we tested out this catamaran in light winds and poor visibility. We were also able to do another candid management interview with Shane Grover, the US marketing manager of Seawind. We have not had our fill yet of exploring the harbor of Portree on the Isle of Skye, but it won't be protected from the southern storms headed our way, and we need to find protection FAST! On a sailboat, you could spend a good month (or more!!) exploring all the harbors and towns in the Isle of Skye, and as much as we were enjoying our time in the harbour of Portree, some nasty storms from the south our headed our way, and there is just no protection offered here. After taking one last day to get off the boat and do some wandering around town (where we also check out the Apothecary Tower overlooking the harbour), it's time to find a sheltered spot to wait out the next week. This means passing under Skye Bridge, known for it's nasty currents that can run up to 9 knots. We try to time all the worst parts so we pass through at slack tide, and find we didn't have much to worry about. And once we've made it safely to our anchorage, the only thing left to do is wait out the never ending storms sweeping over us. Much love from Scotland! Bad news from Scilla as our friend ended up in the hospital in Sint Maarten. We head over there from Saint Barth together with Idéfix. The Dutch part of the island seems to be quite ok after the hurricane, we'll be back in the first week of March to take part in the Heineken regatta, this time on board of Eight.

One of the most famous round the world racing yachts, Farr 58 The Maiden Factor, which made history in 1989 as the first all-female crew to sail around the world in the Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race, coming second overall. After a two year refit in the UK, she is now sailing around the world with an all-female team, raising funds and awareness for equal access to education. #Caribbean600 #TheMaidenFactor © RORC / Acquafilms

Highlights of the 2020 race start with 73 yachts, 37 nations and 700 sailors from across the globe embarking on the 600 mile race around 11 Caribbean Islands. Thanks to http://caribbean600.rorc.org/

It can feel lonely, left out & down right depressing just going through our daily routines & catching any spare time the kids would have for us. Well, we decided to do something about that, we set off on a journey around Australia in our RV until karma had other plans. Our lives took a different direction after this, which allowed us to grab a lifetime dream that we didn’t think was ever possible but in reality, it was. Please join two boomers as we embark on our new chapter & how we manage life & family from our MacIntosh 47’ sailboat heading home to Australia.
