Nós acreditamos que o local mais próximo para nos abrigar de uma previsão de 36 nós (inéditos pra gente até então) seria Mayreau. Porém, não contávamos com o fato de que todo mundo pensaria a mesma coisa. Essa região do Caribe é lotada e todo mundo busca Mayreau para abrigo. Acabamos deixando 60m de corrente e 20m de cabo (em 17m de profundidade) para aguentar o vento, mas um iate inconveniente parou bem perto da gente. Quando a nossa corrente esticou a gente acabou indo parar bem perto dele. Perto a ponto deles acenderem as luzes na nossa cara... desagradável. Mudamos para o outro lado da ancoragem e nossa âncora arrastou dessa vez. A gente chegou bem perto de um outro barco e eu acabei ligando o motor para tirar nossa popa que estava a uns 5 metros da popa deles. Não foi legal. Parecia que a nossa âncora simplesmente não pegava no fundo de coral. Foi uma noite do cão! Cansados, resolvemos voltar pra Tobago Cays, porque lá sabíamos que (mesmo disputada) a ancoragem era melhor. Voltamos e passamos mais uns 3 dias só curtindo o que realmente é a cerejinha do bolo do Caribe. As lindíssimas imagens do drone do Claudinho falam por si só!

In this episode, we walked to the Pier and took the famous cable car to downtown San Francisco. We explored the beach and went up high on the rocks overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. The kids had fun in just about every playground we came by. On our last day in SF, our friend Ben invited us on his trimaran to sail the Gulf of San Francisco. NEWS FLASH: We have RETURNED to China! The nomadic life is now over; the irony is that we have returned to the opposite - 100% stuck inside our apartment for 14 days of quarantine. BUT, the journey back to Qingdao from Kuala Lumpur via Xiamen was fascinating. Our plane first touched down in Xiamen and they extracted us first from the plane. We were escorted by a hazmat suited woman to medical where we had multiple temperature checks before proceeding through immigration. The immigration officer asked us many questions and was reluctant to let us pass since we had flown via Seoul 7 weeks ago....there has been a recent outbreak in Seoul. While the journey through Xiamen and back to our flat in Qingdao was long and cumbersome, we met the kindest people who despite language and cultural barriers, could not have been more supportive of us. The Chinese government is doing all it can to avoid the resurgence of the virus, pouring a massive amount of money into the processing of international passengers. Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. The Fishermans Knot is a simple but effective way to join two lengths of rope together. The knot is more secure than a sheet bend under light load as you can tighten the overhand knots around the main lines which prevent the knot from coming undone before load is put on the lines. The Fishermans knot is preferred to tying a sheet bend when the rope diameters are the same. If you are going to have constant high levels of load on the joined lines the Fishermans Knot will become hard to untie, if you are join ropes which will stay under constant load are Sheet Bend will work better. Learning how to tie a fisherman knot is easy, most people already know how to tie a overhand knot, the Fishermans knot is tied by combining two overhand knots.
