As we work our way south along the thorny path we realize that we'll need to stop somewhere in the Dominican Republic. There are just a few decent anchorages along the norther shore of the DR and we decide to skip Luperon in favor of Samana since we had a large enough weather window to make it. The Spanish lockdown continues and the whole world is now being affected by the corona virus. We stay out at sea in the Mar Menor which would be great if it wasn't for the bad weather! And the lack of cooking gas. Daily life for us, and everyone else in Spain, is spent in lockdown. Only one person per family allowed on the streets at any one time. No unnecessary journeys. Offices and shops closed except for essentials such as food. But life goes on. We share a deserted island with seagulls, sit it out at anchor in 40 knot winds, dinghy ashore to get food and eventually find some cooking gas. Thank you to everyone for your support this week. OUR NEW SAIL! Australia is awesome but lets get back to Marley & Nandji! https://www.sailingnandji.com/ In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we have been road tripping across South Australia visiting family and friends. We drive thousands of kilometres to see as many people as we can. Australia is a big country and our families are spread acorss the nation. After cruising around South Oz, we jump on a plane to Queensland and re visit our old stomping ground on the Sunshine coast.We visit Aaron from Kore sails and collect our new A-symmetrical sail. This is better than any Christmas present! Unfortunately during our time hoe, the country was devastated with bush fires and rather than doing nothing we decide we want to help by raising money and buying food to go direct to a community hard hit at the time. Our time in Aussie land comes to end and before we know it, we are back in Thailand on our way to the doggy resort to collect the Whippet. It was weird not having Marley by our side, but it was great to pick him up again and take him home to Nandji. Australia is great but it is nice to be home on Nandji. With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we have returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south to Chagos and across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! The adventure is just beginning as we plan to sail our Nandji girl around the world!! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World!
