The gearbox re-assembly is finished and she gets a new coat of paint. We manhandle her onto Nutshell ready for installation. Magnus does a few canning tests on various meats, some raw, some half cooked and some fully cooked, in readiness for our trip up to the Kimberley. We will have a limited amount of gas, so anything that can help us to reduce our gas usage is helpful. By cooking the meat before canning, we won’t need to waste gas frying it too much at the other end. Magnus also does a little test on vacuum sealing fresh kaffir lime leaves. Peanut IV gets loads of TLC too and ends up quite specky! Thanks for watching. Can Pigs fly? No, but they swim in the sea at Big Majors Cay Exumas! Tour of Thunderball Grotto, ran aground and stuck for 4 hours, and attend Little Farmers “5F” Regatta. From our beautiful anchorage behind Pipe Cay we went back to Staniel Cay to see the swimming pigs on Big Majors and have a dramatic swim through the Thunderball Grotto, featured in the James Bond movie of the same name. Leaving Staniel Cay was quite challenging, with several bumps on the bottom! Eventually getting through near to high tide with a delay of 4 hours, that saw us arriving to Oven Rock anchorage in the dark. Next morning, we visited a cave on Great Guana Cay and the Oven Rock, before being entertained in the afternoon by the local Bahamian sloops racing in the annual Little Farmers “5F” Regatta (First Friday in February Little Farmers Festival). 6- 9Feb 2020

Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V770 with a Rode External mic. My old camera is now my number 2 is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. After our not so stelar experience in Penang, we take off for Langkawi - which will be our last stop in Malaysia. Z and I weigh anchor at 5 AM and set off for the Malacca Strait. Depending on the winds this could take up to 15 hours, and we don’t want to arrive after sundown. Morning darkness washes away as we give priority to several Big Ass Ships… We didn't know it, but we are in for a treat - PERFECT SAILing conditions after what seemed like 6 long months of motoring. Part 3 of our Seychelles Sailing Cruise! We cruise our sailing catamaran from Anse La Farine at Praslin to One Tree Island and on around the Sister Islands. We find some beautiful snorkeling at Ave Maria Rock, One Tree Island. Then we find the wind pick up and quickly try and launch a kite for a kitefoil session. Then we sail round to the east side of the Sister Islands, where we find to most amazing beach.. Join us now for episode 3 of this series! The catamaran we sail here, is a Lagoon 42 chartered from the Edin Island Marina on Mahe in the Seychelles. We opted to have a skipper join us, as our previous sailing experience is limited, but we are working on that!
