This short movie focuses on hard and soft corals in Raja Ampat during our season on board @thesevenseascruises . Each diver has its preferences. Some love big fish and pelagics, others turtles, some of them colorful nudibranchs. To me without any doubt my favorite subjects are corals. My heart is filled with happiness when I dive in a healthy reef in brisk current. It is more challenging to shoot them but you get the greatest reward: polyps broadly open and feeding, soft corals displaying their whole magnificent and colorful shape. Raja Ampat and Misool area are probably the best place in the world to witness this fascinating and unique ecosystem. The plan was to show you my new dinghy months ago but then we were all shut down, and sailing stopped. And because of the travel restrictions I wasnt entirely comfortable about going to the club. However I live less than a mile away, I can cycle past it as part of a ride, that I am legitimately allowed to do, and its been over 6 weeks since I last saw the boat myself so I wanted to check that it was tied down ok etc. So all that said I didnt feel to bad about making this film. Apart from 2 cars and 4 people walking there dog I didnt see any one on the whole journey and I can let everyone else who has a boat at Wilsonians know that everything looks good, boats are in place, covers are on and everything is tied down. We are determined to get the batteries for our electric motor wired. We also ask for your suggestions for plugging a leak in our generator's diesel tank. When things go unexpectedly awry and our cabin is filled with smoke, Tammy turns on the camera and captures the aftermath of the battery wiring disaster. We still debate whether or not this counts as an electrical fire, but luckily no one got hurt but we may have destroyed a battery and several battery cables. One of these days we'll get our family out sailing, but this week was more than a little stressful. We are a family preparing to sail around the world in our electric sailboat. Riding towards the sunset on tarmac & gravel. Lots of parts came out badly underexposed, but I cobbled something together from the ok bits, there's still some decent scenery in there. The gravel road was pretty smooth after the winter, with very little actual gravel on the surface. It feels like you're going a million on roads like these. Some shadowy parts were wet and soft, and I had to watch out for rabbits and deer. In this video, we document how leaving quarantine revealed a totally new normal for our lives in China. There was a new language to speak in the form of colored papers and QR codes and our phones had, overnight, become the single most important device to our existence in Qingdao. On every excursion out of the apartment, we had to ensure our mask was on and our phone batteries were strong enough to scan and confirm our every move. We had the freedom to enter most locations (though some communities refused and still do refuse access to anyone but their own residents!) and ride on public transportation as long as we complied with the new rules. Andrew Palfrey will be delivering a keelboat masterclass. Andrew has coached World Championship winning teams in the Farr40, Farr30, RC44, Etchells and Star class. In recent years Palfrey has coached a wide variety of teams from Maxis to Quarter Tonners. For the RORC Time Over Distance Series Andrew will present a live hour-long interactive show covering planning, goal setting, teamwork and equipment. The presentation will also cover increasing performance through speed, starts, and also upwind and downwind techniques.
