This is Part 2 of our Windward Passage video - Happy Earth Day all! After seeing up to 44 knots in our previous video, the wind all but died as we sailed behind Haiti. Another change was the significant amount of trash we started seeing in the water, which culminated into a huge mess once we reached Jamaica. What to do?!?!?! OUR BOAT is a Ferrari red Outremer 51 performance cruising catamaran. We chose this boat as it has been specifically designed for the purpose of bluewater sailing. It was designed and built to withstand the stress of sailing multiple times around the world safely and in comfort. It's also a speed demon, which is important when you want to cover large distances of water before the weather changes. Lastly, it's backed by the manufacturer with outstanding customer service and aftermarket support, so we believe she will hold her value well. And, she's nice on the eyes too. OUR ROUTE has taken us from the Boston/Cape Cod area of the United States down to the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and to French Polynesia. We had a mooring break on us in Bora Bora, and after a lengthy repair we are now in New Zealand. We hoped to sail to Southeast Asia in 2020, but now all plans are up in the air. In hindsight we will be able to judge what was the best response to the corona version. In the BVI they seem to have succeeded in keeping the number of initial cases very limited. The downside of course is the 24/7 full lockdown where we aren't even able to move the boat. When you see this we have left the BVI and are sailing back to Europe, first to the Azores with Bermuda as an alternate. "Désolé pour la bande son, à juste titre , vous nous avez fait remarqué les sauts de musique par moment un peu trop fort. Nous avons débuté au départ du Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 avec ce logiciel que nous n’avons pas encore en main. Milles excuses pour ce désagrément, malheureusement ces épisodes étaient déjà montés. » Au petit matin du 23 mars, après 48 heures, nous avons effectué 210,4 nautiques. La distance n’est pas si mal ! Les 21 et 22, nous ont fait longer la côte Est Sri Lankaise avec une petite brise agréable et un courant souvent en notre faveur, si bien que le pont est déjà tout salé d’embruns et avec la vitesse, un Sail Fish a littéralement englouti notre « super » leurre Colgate ! Évidement proche de la terre, nous n’avons pas échappé au chassé-croisé de pêcheurs et de cargos auquel nous nous attendions, toutefois ce qui nous a surpris c’est qu’absolument tous les navires destinés à transporter des marchandises étaient vides ! De nuit, le défilé sur notre écran radar et les nimbes dans la noirceur, nous ont maintenues en éveil rappelant à nos corps, oh combien une nuit de huit heures est agréable ! Mais le sommeil se gère finalement pas trop mal, surtout pour ma moitié, il a une capacité insomniaque impressionnante. Le trafic maritime n’est pas la seule cause à son état ! ne pas savoir exactement où l’on va, le perturbe aussi. Il y a quand même de quoi. Nous avons appris avant de ne plus avoir de réseau internet que les Seychelles ont totalement fermé leur frontière aux plaisanciers ! Pour les Maldives, c’est mort aussi, reste les Chagos, éventuellement le nord de Mada, et les Comores. Pour la Réunion, nous sommes trop tôt dans la saison ! Nous voulions de l’aventure, nous l’avons, alors profitons de notre liberté et continuons de nous laisser porter en profitant de ces conditions de navigation exceptionnelles !

Heute möchten wir euch unser "altes" Revier - Zeeland - näherbringen. Über viele Jahre hinweg haben wir hier unsere Urlaube verbracht und bei vielen Törns uns auf das Hochseesegeln vorbereitet. Unser damaliges Boot war eine Najad 343. Nicht zu groß für das Revier, denn oft wird es in den Häfen eng und manche Passagen sind auch ziemlich flach! Da waren wir mit 1,60m Tiefgang schon an der Grenze... Heute segeln wir mit unserer HR 43 Mola Mola seit einigen Jahren im Ärmelkanal und besonders gerne in Südengland! Seit 2017 haben wir nun mehr Zeit und so ist es uns möglich unser Revier beliebig zu vergrößern. Wir reisen gerne in kleinen Etappen, um möglichst viel von Land und Leuten kennenzulernen. Begeistert sind wir von der Atlantikküste bis nach Gibraltar. Ein oft unterschätztes Revier mit unendlich vielen, schönen Orten und Ankerplätzen! Em Chioggia presenciamos a segunda maior enchente da Laguna de Veneza. A cidade foi atingida pelo vento Scirocco, com ventos de 50 knots, equivalente a 90 km/h, o que ocasionou uma maré de quase 1,60 mts. A maré subiu demais e isso dificultou nosso acesso de entrada e saída do barco com os cachorros. Porém tivemos que nos adaptar a esta situação. Além disso tudo, meu celular que tinham todas as imagens desde o início da viagem, foi para o fundo do mar e eu não tinha o backup. Wir nennen es das Projekt "Arche Noah". Zum ersten Mal wollen wir mit Hund UND Katze segeln gehen. Der Hund hat sich bereits als seefest erwiesen. Wird es die Katze auch sein? Für eine Woche wollen wir nach Kekova segeln. Immer noch dürfen Segelboote in der Türkei die Marina verlassen - wenn auch unter strengen Auflagen. An Bord dürfen nicht mehr als vier Personen sein, keiner älter als 65 Jahre, keiner jünger als zwanzig. Auch dürfen wir den Bereich der Küstenwache von Kaş nicht verlassen, vorher müssen wir uns abmelden. Unterwegs werden wir mehrmals kontrolliert (aber jedesmal sehr freundlich, fast freundschaftlich). Bei Kekova, der versunkenen Stadt, wollen wir mit ein paar anderen Booten ein paar Tage ankern. Mit dabei Australier, Briten, Dänen, Türken und Jan aus München. Quasi in eine selbst auferlegte Quarantäne gehen, fernab der Zivilisation. Und weil Ostern ist, wollen wir einen Film schauen, projiziert ins Großsegel. Natürlich "Life of Brian". Aber dann kommt alles anders. Nachts um 2.30 Uhr klopft die Küstenwache ans Boot. Die Türkei hat eine 48-stündige Ausgangssperre verhängt.

Depois de Montserrat nós seguimos para Barbuda numa decisão sem pensar muito. Em tese, eu gostaria de fazer algumas paradas meio "fora da curva" e do roteiro que quase todo mundo faz, pensei em Redonda, mas depois de descobrir que não era possível desembarcar na ilha, consideramos Barbuda. Vi umas fotos do Jone, do J One e fiquei maluca. Quase não pareciam reais. Pensei que era algum tipo de filtro do Instagram, mas o Jone não tem cara de usar filtros nas fotos. rs Seguimos para lá depois de olhar o guia e consultar algumas opiniões do nosso plotter e do Navionics. A navegada prometia uma chegada com emoção. Saímos 5h da tarde e navegamos por 17 horas como tartaruga, a 3 nós. Quando chegamos, decidimos ir para 17 Mile Beach, basicamente porque pareceu que a foto no Google prometia uma praia linda e vazia. Mas ainda parecia demais para ser verdade! Mas era! E ainda mais linda do que nas fotos! Porque estávamos lá, em uma praia gigante uma faixa enooooooooorme de areia branquinha e uma água com cor de topázio! Ou da cor de um lápis de cor azul esverdeado aceso. Nada que eu tente descrever vai chegar perto do que é Barbuda, infelizmente. Mas, na minha opinião, foi a ilha mais linda que passamos aqui no Caribe até agora.

Lorsque nous sommes arrivés pour la première fois à Nassau, il y a de cela 2 ans, nous avons rencontré ces trois êtres absolument extraordinaires (j’inclue Muscade le chien). Ils sont arrivés avec leur dinghy à notre voilier, l'air un peu timide, mais tellement riches dans leur énergie et leur intentions. Vicky et Patrick sont devenus nos meilleurs amis, et même plus, notre famille. Ils nous ont initiés à tellement de nouvelles expériences dans les Bahamas, et aidé à réparer notre voilier quand on manquait d'expérience pour faire tout nous-même. On en a rit des shots et pleuré d'autres, mais mon dieu qu'on s'est pas lâché! Ils sont ancrés dans nos cœurs, ces deux-là. Et très difficilement, une entrevue de 25 minutes pourra rendre justice à la richesse de leurs deux êtres.
