Connaissant mes capacités à me situer sur la carte selon nos points cardinaux, j’attache un respect profond aux cartographes de l’époque ! Inutile de vous dire que seule, je n’irais pas bien loin et sans Gps encore moins ! Parfait, mon capitaine hypocondriaque se porte à merveille ! Il sait y faire le bougre, en se plaignant un peu, il sait que je vais m’occuper encore plus de lui ! Je vous rassure, en excluant une grosse fatigue, tout va bien, pas le moindre symptôme de Covid 19. Nous imputons notre exténuation à notre fougue effrénée de découverte. Ça peut paraitre excessif mais si nous faisons le point des vingt derniers jours, nous nous sommes donnés que peu de répit. Outre notre frasque terrestre, ce qui nous assommes aussi c’est l’air ambiant qui s’est largement chargé d’humidité depuis que nous avons quittés Trincomalee, preuve que nous nous rapprochons petit à petit de l’équateur. Notre éloignement de la terre contribue certainement à la désertification des navires dans la zone, plus aucun signal Radar ni AIS. Une vraie aubaine pour roupiller tous les deux comme des cochons ! Nous sommes à 509 milles d’Addu aux Maldives. Toujours incertains sur notre destination, nous nous en remettons à notre lionceau... Nous allons dormir !

In this sailing video, we anchored in Staniel Cay Bahamas where crystal clear water allows inspection of anchor performance of our Mantus anchor. During confinement on the boat, Pierre installs a new reefing system that allows us to stay in the cockpit for the first reef. With Bahamas in lock-down and no one allowed to go ashore, we leave for Andros Bahamas to anchor overnight before proceeding home. With Bahamas in a “regular” lock-down, essential services are open, such as fuel and groceries. With the number of cases increasing and to stop the spread of Covid-10 to other islands, the Bahamas government announced a TOTAL lock-down. No one may leave their property (or boat) for any reason, except hospital staff and police, unless medical emergency. We decide that Bahamas is too unpredictable for cruisers, and depart toward the USA via Andros just as the Bahamas government has suggested that cruising boats should leave. The Prime Minister of Bahamas is a medical doctor and surgeon and is doing the right moves to stop COVID-19 from to spreading to new islands. Three of the islands already have COVID 19 infections and the death toll has increased. Bahamas does not have the medical capacity to deal with a pandemic. Individual islands have interpreted the PM speech in different ways leading to increased uncertainty. — OUR COVID-19 UPDATE! — So, here on Saoirse things have been slower. We appreciate that we get to stay in such a beautiful place during our lockdown. In this episode Colben and Teagan take you through how our country went about announcing the lock down and what we had to do in order to prepare ourselves, what we get up to during our first week of lock down, what our stores looked like, we introduce you to our newest little furry friend and Teagan gives Saoirse a long overdue scrub. Also, we were told to try new things during this time in lock down so why not try to bath a cat? We all have to challenge ourselves sometimes! Our South African President couldn’t have made a better decision for all of us, not our economy but for its people. We have been able to slow the curve in order to help our country better prepare itself for what is to come. Our economy is a whole other story - the Rand hit an all time low and has made us increasingly scared for what is to come by way of our adventures overseas. We simply can not afford to have our money weaken any more to the dollar.
