So much is happening in this episode, we sail over a RED ALERT EXCLUSION ZONE just north of Grenada, we get the boat ready for our next big passage, our engine causes Asher a fair amount of grief, we explore the wonderful waterfalls of Grenada and we lose something rather important. Much like Komodo, Raja Ampat is really a place that has everything you might expect from a tropical snorkeling destination. The reefs are out of this world with record numbers of reef fish and coral species while the schools of big fish and pelagic species like manta rays are also in great

Conditions change fast out here and it's not always blue skies and bikini weather. How can an idyllic anchorage turn into a hell hole of swell and waves in the blink of an eye? Hope you enjoy this video of a not-so-ideal night of our lives. Much Love, Kazza, Brian and little Sierra After a few hours ashore we come back to find our dingy anchor has broken loose and Maggie is washed up on the rocks. After an hour of bailing and tugging during a nasty rain squall we manage to get her afloat and back to Delos. The swell gets worse and Delos is getting hammered by waves. We can hear the roar of the break on the reef off our starboard side. It's so loud it wakes us up and we regret putting ourselves and our house in this precarious position. But it's the middle of the night, and we reason it's actually safer to wait until sunrise before moving to a better spot. Then suddenly we are woken up by a loud BANG!! Our stern anchor line has snapped, putting us broadside to the swell... Sometimes sailing just 30 miles out of the way can lead to a completely new, unexpected experience. After receiving a message from one of our Delos tribe members we decide to sail a bit off the beaten path, to the island of St Croix. We’d only met a handful of boats that had made the trip. But those that had spoke of great diving, organic farms, and quant little towns. And strait away this little island surprised us with friendly locals, excellent scuba diving, delicious food, and great sailing! If you like the video please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE! Exploring Rudder Cay and abandoned research center on Lee Stocking. From Musha Cay we had a 3nm bouncy ride in deep water, before heading back on the bank and anchoring behind Rudder Cay, next to a beautiful beach and a very interesting cave. After snorkeling over David Copperfield’s sunken grand piano, we had an exploration walk on the island, to an Atlantic beach and ruined building on the high ground. From Rudder Cay, another short battle with the Atlantic swell finds us back on the bank and anchored adjacent to the abandoned Caribbean Marine Research center on Lee Stocking island. We spent the afternoon exploring the center which still had a surprising amount of equipment in place. 13-15 Feb 2020

Anzac Day is the 25th of April each year we commemorate our brave soldiers who landed in Gallipoli on this date in 1915 as a decoy for the British Empire to claim Constantinople (Istanbul). Knowing defeat was inevitable they stood, fought and died with tens of thousands of lives lost on both sides. We sail to Anzac Cove in Gallipoli to commemorate our ANZACS in 2020. Filmed in early February before the global situation, see our FB and Instagram for our current status. Sailing through Thailand's beautiful Islands, we explore caves, tunnels and manage to find some quiet anchorages in this notoriously busy holiday area. Paddling through a 60m long pitch black tunnel to emerge in to an emerald bay open only to the sky at Ko Mook was just one of the highlights. These islands have played host to a number of films such as James Bond and The Beach. We are a British couple who set off from England in 2016 to fulfil our dream of sailing around the world on our 37ft sail boat, Florence. Along the way we share the live aboard lifestyle with the highs and lows of travelling around the world by boat, our own little tiny house. Boat life out at sea on the ocean. Hello Friends, We have another bonus episode for y'all this week! On this episode we show you how we careened The Black Lotus, a 1965 Cheoy Lee Frisco Flyer, to replace a severely corroded seacock that failed and almost sunk the ship. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Careening ) You can see the video of that situation here: https://youtu.be/2-JwND0wAkM The new owners of The Black Lotus are Kristen and Dyer and they have been hard at work restoring her and saving this beautiful boat. When the seacock failed we sat down and talked about what the options were. They are refitting the entire boat and on a limited budget and when they haul out they want to do a complete bottom job and replace all the other seacocks and thruhulls at that time. I looked at the placement of the thruhulls and was certain I could get the boat to list over enough to expose them for a quick repair. We started buy attaching their Main Halyard to a dock cleat aft and their Jib Halyard to a dock cleat forward and then slowly took in line on the winches keeping the Halyards even and adjusting the dock lines when needed. Once we got the bungs almost out of the water we attached two heavy duty ratchet straps under the bow and cranked them taught. this lifted the bow and created a cradle to keep her stable in the slip in case of wakes. After that it was just time to get the job done. Thanks to Chris and Josh for the dockside assistance! You can follow along with Kristen and Dyer on Instagram to watch their progress as they save this beautiful boat : https://www.instagram.com/sv_theblacklotus/ You can also subscribe to the Black Lotus Playlist where I will keep all videos related to this boat as they get uploaded: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLm0chdAnUTpzh9zhvMZXgHMePxC99mvYg If you enjoy our channel please "Like" the videos and Subscribe so you don't miss any future episodes. The big question on everyone's mind is ... what is it going to COST us to build this new catamaran? Matt has spent the past few weeks talking to the designers at Schionning and Oram, as well as professional and ameture builders to gather as much information as possible on the costs that go into building a kit catamaran. Things can obviously vary from builder to builder, but taking a simple and basic approach, we've narrowed down the numbers on what we estimate it will cost to build an Oram 45R. To take a look at the full design specs, take a look here: https://www.boboramdesign.com/45r For a quick look at the numbers, check our website: http://www.mjsailing.com/cos/oram-45r-estimated-build-cost/ For a download of the spreadsheet, click here: http://www.mjsailing.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/oram-45r-cost-1.ods After discussing previous builds with the many others who've come before us, we found out there is one small thing that can skyrocket a budget - and that is making customizations after you've started the build. But, if you start with good plans and commit yourself to them, it is very feesable to stick to your original budget. Sending the above spreadsheet to both designers and builders, and asking if they were realistic figures, they all came back stating that we've covered all aspects and should be able to complete the project within the budget we have listed. And that, is music to our ears!! Since this is a very long video because we have tried to keep it as detailed as possible, here is an outline of subjects covered if you'd like to bounce through to the areas that interest you: 0:00:00 - Intro by Jessica 0:03:50 - Intro by Matt 0:15:32 - Intro To Budget 0:16:30 - Costs relating to Kit 0:21:45 - Total cost of Kit shipped to the US 0:24:23 - Costs relating to Building Supplies 0:32:10 - Total costs of Building Supplies 0:32:53 - Total cost of First Year of Build (getting to paint stage) 0:35:41 - Costs relating to Paint 0:39:05 - Costs relating to Sailing (rig, sails and deck hardware) 0:45:17 - Total costs of Sailing 45:38 - Costs relating to Engines 0:50:42 - Costs relating to Steering 0:52:32 - Costs relating to Electrical System 1:00:50 - Total costs of Electrical System 1:01:07 - Costs relating to Achor (anchor, chain/rope, windlass, docking gear) 1:04:05 - Costs relating to Lights 1:07:17 - Costs relating to Galley 1:12:07 - Costs relating to Exterior 1:16:53 - Costs relating to Interior 1:17:45 - Costs relating to Heads 1:19:12 - Costs relating to Electronics 1:22:20 - TOTAL COST OF BUILD 1:26:40 - Closing by Jessica Enjoy! Our Tesla battery bank is in! Some people have brought some concerns to us about using lithium batteries and the dangers that go along with them. We have done an exorbitant amount of research and know that we are being safe. With any battery that we could use there is a level of danger that comes along with it. We appreciate the concern that you have had and are confident in the decision that we have made to use these batteries. **THIS VIDEO WAS NOT SPONSORED BY ANY COMPANY. #81m Big Waves on Passage to Gibraltar | Sailing Sisu Leopard 45 Catamaran Circumnavigating Atlantic
A short music video, just sailing the Leopard 45 Catamaran in Big Waves on Passage to Gibraltar. We got scared by times, but Sisu just kept going with ease, which had a very calming effect on us. We did not caught the massive waves on camera and we should have, but it is difficult to get those shots in perspective and on camera...and it happens normally at night :-( so, no scary footage, only nice sailing :-) For the full video, watch https://youtu.be/2h1Qk-xcvls Thank you for all our subscribers!

We love it when family and friends come to visit. It's party time with this lot as we explore the Greek Islands of Rhodes and Ios.
This episode takes me to one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world where we experience a national celebration held only four times in the past 30 years. The costumes and colors are incredible. I imagine what it could have been like to arrive here in the 1700's and we all enjoy some delicious local food. Subscribe and join me as we go off the beaten track. *********************************************** For those of you who don't know me, my name is Chris. I used to run a financial sales business in Vancouver, Canda. Three and a half years ago I sold it, radically changed my life, and have never looked back. I've spent the last 3.5 years traveling the world on a sailboat with my young family where we've been fortunate to be able to go on adventures to remote places and connect with people from cultures far different from my own. This is the place I get to share those stories. This channel is more than just a sailing channel. It's about providing you with a lens into parts of the world, people and histories that are not often seen or heard. There are many ways to live life on this planet and I've been fortunate to experience a few radically different ones. My hope is that by watching my videos you learn something about the outside world, or about yourself that challenges your perspective and perhaps shifts it in a way that brings maybe just a little more peace and happiness to your life. Much love to you all. In this episode you will see our last few days before getting to the harbor of Cadiz, where we will stay several weeks during the strict lockdown due to Covid19. We wake up in the anchorage in front the beach of Conil de Frontera and we put up our sails to continue this tour around the globe, not knowing that is waiting for us. Sailing around the world is full of surprises, but this one we couldn’t have imagined. We navigate through a few hours and the moment when we arrive to an anchorage in front of Cadiz, the Spanish gouvernement annonce strict measures to protect the population: lockdown. It is permitted only to get out of your homes to buy necessary groceries, medications or to go to the hospital. We also hear that borders between Spain and Portugal will be closed, so we decide to head to Portugal earlier than expected. We hoist our sails and we sail through the night, but at one point Marvin had to take the difficult decision to turn back. There was clearly a storm in head of us. Me already being seasick it was the right decision for our safety. We then managed take shelter in the River of Guadalquivir and the next day we decide to go back to Cadiz. We arrive to the harbor with our emergency flags out just in case. Our water tanks were almost empty and we have been refused in the nearest harbor to Guadalquivir when we contacted them earlier. Everything goes perfectly, despite the strong wind and we are truly happy to feel safe and attached. To finish this episode filled with emotions we show you the harbor where we will spend the lockdown in our sailboat. Hope you enjoyed tis one, we are working hard to transmit what is happening to us in the most precise way.
