En 2018, nous faisions une halte au Guatemala, 40 km dans les terres sur le fleuve Rio Dulce. Quelle belle expérience ! On en avait profité pour faire le carénage de notre bateau sur le chantier de la marina Nanajuana. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié cette marina, une bonne équipe, une bonne ambiance et une piscine bien agréable pour se détendre.

Our family sailing adventure this week was sailing to Home Bay, Motutapo Island in the Hauraki Gulf, Auckland. On this voyage we had some friends come with us for a sleepover, we show you our favourite beach, mostly because of the crabs, fresh water pond, ice cream (the shop is open every second weekend), walking tracks, native birds and the fun kayaking we normally have. At 178 million years old pest-free Motutapu is one of the oldest land masses in the Hauraki Gulf. The island has lived an exciting life – it was intensively settled by Maori, it hosted massive Victorian picnic parties, and was a base during WWll. We show you the wharf / jetty where the navy ships would dock on the island. Blake also shows you what not to do with a GoPro camera. He runs down the beach and smashes it in the water, while it did hit the rocks it didn’t crack the lens and the GoPro Hero 8 camera survived. At the end, we show you video and photos of when we first purchased the boat, in a future episode we will provide recommendations on a family boat to buy. On our first trip out, we saw KS-2, Sir Peter Blake won the Ocean Race (Whitbread round the world race) with this boat. Blake was named after Sir Peter Blake. Dans un monde où la navigation de plaisance n’est plus autorisée (du moins jusqu'au 11 mai), il est urgent de retrouver de la joie, de l’espoir et des projets! Dans ce contexte, dans le cadre de notre série : un jour, un navigateur, une histoire n°15, Antoine Brulé d'OPENSAIL, moniteur de voile professionnnel, partage un souvenir de transatlantique retour au départ de Cuba en 2001 sous fidèle Castro. Ces souvenirs sont intacts, et tous les éléments étaient rassemblés pour un voyage maritime extraordinaire! Le bateau, un Comet 13 qui lui a procuré des souvenirs fabuleux de navigation, l'accueil des habitants à Cuba et aux Açores, les dauphins, les baleines, une pêche savoureuse, les escales fleuris et musicales. En partageant ce souvenir de jeune navigateur, sûrement l'un de ceux qui l'ont fait choisir sa carrière professionnelle, il nous invite à notre tour à goûter au voyage par la mer! En bonus, pour ceux qui resteront jusqu'à la fin de la vidéo quelques images de l'océan depuis le port des Minimes à La Rochelle! In this video we show you why :) On the 17th of April 2020 we left marina Port Ghalib in Egypt, heading south towards Sudan and Djibouti and finally Maldives. We will take it easy, enjoy the beautiful reefs of the red sea and keep an eye on the corona regulations of the ports we pass. Since many countries are closed we don't know where we will be allowed to go on land again, but we can survive 4 month without seeing anybody :) This journey is only a small part of our trip that started 2 years ago. Our first offshore sail still haunts us to this day! Lets learn from our mistakes... https://www.sailingnandji.com/ This video was filmed early Febuary before the global pandemic really took off. Thailand was one of the first countries affected and we took the adequate precautions early to protect ourselves. In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we have been sitting at anchor in Thailand completing the final jobs on the list to get our Nandji ready for the massive task of sailing across the Indian Ocean. We have completed a long list of jobs and slowly but surely we are closer to complete. After having a disastrous first offshore sail to New Caledonia where we are still haunted to this day, we thought we needed to change a few things. Our head sail halyard snapped, resulting in us fishing the genoa out of the ocean. Yosh then trying to climb the mast in rough seas and nearly hurting himself, to then having a smaller and less reliable head sail hoisted for the passage equalling in a longer passage against the trades and hand steering the whole 9 days.... We therefore wanted to take as many measures as possible for a back up in case this happens again. Therefore we install a secondary headsail halyard. Check out our first offshore sail here... PROBLEMS AT SEA & 50 KNOTS! 9 days to New Caledonia https://youtu.be/188nXnqbvE0 With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! The adventure is just beginning as we plan to sail our Nandji girl around the world!! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World!
