WE continue sailing around the archipelago, finding the most idyllic parts of the San Blas Island chain, discovering unbelievable island anchorages, surrounded by incredible sea life, crystal clear waters, and stunning white sandy beaches lines with palm trees. This paradise island chain is exactly what we wanted to find when we started sailing and exploring the Caribbean. The trash issues of the earlier islands seemed less of an issue at these more remote islands, and they definitely seemed more cared for by those who did inhabit them, which are far less that most. We spend most of our days exploring our beautiful new surroundings and discover a huge collection of starfish in the pristine water that surround us in every direction. Dixième jour de confinement à bord de Black Lion. Entre deux sommes, Cyril a passé son temps au réglage de la voilure. Le vent 8 nœuds apparent a vacillé toute la nuit de 90º, allant du nord à l’ouest et du bon plein au travers. Conséquence, ce matin au compteur, 111 milles au 0º40'034 S et 69º18'122 E. Le score reste satisfaisant et il est à augurer vu les rapports de Wather 4D qu’il augmente significativement dans les prochaines vingt-quatre heures. Cette constatation ne vient pas de moi, non que je ne m’en intéresse pas mais j’ai entièrement confiance aux jugements de mon dialectique capitaine. Avec le temps et nos années de navigation, en s’appuyant sur le travail des météorologistes professionnels, il a acquis par impératif sécuritaire et stratégique une certaine autonomie dans la compréhension et l’utilisation des documents météorologiques. Le vent, les courant, les vagues, les précipitations, les risques d’orage, la nébulosité, la neige, toutes ces informations savamment synthétisaient dans des fichiers lui permettent d’extraire des informations pertinentes, et il s’agit pour lui d’établir judicieusement une prévision raisonnablement précise pour notre route. Parallèlement au décryptage des cartes, des signes précurseurs du temps peuvent stimuler une intuition et un flair. Altérés par les quelques millions d’années d’évolution de l’Homme, ces impondérables semblent se retrouver au fil de notre proximité avec la nature, et si nos aïeuls étaient obligés d’en avoir quelques bribes pour appréhender les éléments, que nous diraient-ils des gros cumulonimbus qui se forment tout autour de nous ? Par analyse, en toute logique, je dirais qu’ils nous annonceraient que l’on va se faire ramasser ! La moiteur chaude de l’air pouvant appuyer fortement cette observation, il serait bien plausible qu’ils ajouteraient que notre croisière va prendre un rythme moins plaisant ! Mais ne nous fiions pas à une prédiction ancestrale, hein capitaine ! Tout à fait « moussaillonne » ! Rangeons le Gennak pour envoyer le foc et prenons un ris dans la grand-voile ! Sait-on jamais ! Tout est relatif, il n’existe pas de vérité absolue, toutes vérité est relative à un contexte particulier et pour le coup après notre alizé très modéré à 8 nœuds, avec 17 nœuds de vent apparent, ça souffle fort et notre océan friselis développe sous l’impulsion du soupir une volonté de le suivre en tempo ! De toute évidence en manigances, sournoisement, ils impliquent dans leur combine, les amas de gouttelettes d’eau maintenues en suspension dans l’atmosphère, mais ceux-là plus affables se limiterons à un préambule sans conséquence ! L’avertissement est néanmoins clair… « faut que l’on arrête de chanter ! », mais non suis-je bête, comme l’indique J.Cornell nous sommes dans la période de transition, entre la mousson de nord-est et celle de sud-ouest, là où justement peuvent se former des grains, va falloir nous y préparer ! Absorbés par l’évolution du climat, nous en délaissons les nouvelles Terriennes et essayons de lire dans le ciel, ce que nous réserve notre nuit. Mais à part ça, comment va la Terre ?

Après 160 milles ces dernières vingt-quatre heures, Black Lion commence le mois d’avril à la position : 1º1'565 S et 66º42'591 E… Pour reprendre les mots joliment enchainés de nos amis : « Dehors, le monde est devenu fou, mais la terre tourne toujours autour du soleil et seuls les oies migratrices, canards et chevreuils ont gardé la raison … ». Leur message que nous avons reçu hier soir nous en dit long sur l’état dans lequel se trouve le monde et la douzaine de jours qui nous séparent de notre dernier contact humain nous décale de plus en plus d’une réalité à laquelle nous voulons de moins en moins être confrontés. Pourtant à la vitesse où l’on va, notre jour estimé d’arrivée se réduit à trois jours et demi ! L’ironie de cette situation c’est que nous concevions l’océan Indien comme un adversaire et il en devient un allié et un préservateur. Comme quoi, chaque voyage, chaque navigation, chaque décision, sont largement influencés par l’état d’esprit dans lequel nous nous trouvons. Le cerveau à une capacité d’adaptation incroyable et de notre expérience, l’exemple le plus éloquent qui me vient en tête, c’est lorsque nous avons traversé ce géant en 2013. Saisis par la puissance des éléments, nous nous en étions remis à notre fatalité, envoûtés par une démente résolution : (extrait de notre livre « hisser les voiles jusqu’au bout de ses rêve ») « La vie, que la vie est belle ! Je comprends mieux aujourd’hui. Il y a quelques années, quand je discutais avec la grand-mère de Cyril, elle me disait que les vieillards ne voyaient pas la mort de la même manière que les personnes plus jeunes. Qu’en quelque sorte la vieillesse préparait peu à peu à mourir, à attendre le temps venu. Si je pars maintenant c’est que c’est ainsi. Jamais je n’aurais imaginé pouvoir dire ça à mon âge et pourtant, hier, serrée dans les bras de ma moitié, c’est ce que j’ai ressenti, et Cyril m’avoue avoir été gagné au même moment par cette insensée réalité. D’épuisement, le mental réagit mais que j’aime la vie, que j’aime notre vie ! » Résigné, il semble que l’Homme puisse tout accepter, et pour ne pas finir confis comme des canards, comme nous le dit si bien notre Charly, il suffit de rythmer le tout par de l’exercice… C’est justement ce que j’ai dit à mon capitaine tout à l’heure, un peu de sport ne peut pas nous faire de mal ! Parce qu’à force de vouloir satisfaire nos envies gourmande allant de la crème renversée à la pizza, à coup sûr, nous allons gonfler comme des baudruches ! Pour mon athlète, l’entrainement de haut niveau, ce n’est pas gagné, il faudra se contenter de quelques étirements et d’un semblant de mouvements devant la caméra pour que ça suffise à lui donner bonne conscience ! Après, à sa défense, nous n’avons pas choisi le jour idéal à une instruction olympique. Le pont est souillé d’une moiteur salée hyper désagréable et le grain qui veut nous rattraper fait courir Black Lion à 9 nœuds. Manque de pot pour lui, à l’inverse de nous, notre félin n’est pas en carence d’activités et laisse sur le carreau le beau déluge. Dans son emportement, le roi des animaux, gagné par l’empressement de sa vitesse, se fait rappeler à l’ordre par le choc sous-nacelle, d’une onde un peu trop autoritaire. Médusés par la brutalité inaccoutumée du coup, nous mesurons à quel point nos conditions de navigation sont parfaites, c’est la première fois depuis la Thaïlande que notre bateau frappe ! Le sursaut qui s’en suit ne vient plus d’une vaguelette agressive mais de Cyril prit de son besoin journalier de s’amuser ! Le « bouffon », c’est gentil venant de moi, vient de me faire tressaillir volontairement avec la corne de brume… Mais le gamin hilare dans son divertissement vient peut-être de trouver l’artifice qui va nous permettre d’enchainer nos prises nourricières ! Au vacarme du signal sonore, notre moulinet fixé sur la bataillole, sous l’échauffement de son fil déroulant se met à brailler sans discontinuer ! La victime inidentifiable, certainement échauffé par sa captivité s’enfonce obstinément vers les abîmes en apportant avec elle, les kilomètres de nylon embobinés sur notre dérouleur. Aux grincements fumant du dévidoir, bien instruit de notre dernière démonstration, mon capitaine s’harnache et commence, excité la remonté du polyamide ! Au bout de vingt minutes, je ....
