Our family sailing adventure this week was to an deserted island, North of Ponui Island in Ruthe Passage, Hauraki Gulf, Auckland. Ruthe passage is known for Kingfish, Snapper and Kina. On this weekend trip we found large crabs and a star fish in a rock pool, we called them our pets. Lucky the crabs didn’t nip us! We asked dad to take the GoPro underwater and try and see if he could swim with fish. He did find a few reef fish and plenty of kelp but the water was a bit murky after a recent storm passing through. At the end, we show you Blake’s remote control sailing boat (RC boat) that he purchased after saving for over a year to get. It is a Dragonforce 65, and he has named it Thunder. We take it sailing around local lakes when we are not out sailing on Opal. We are two brothers, aged 4 and 7, who love going on sailing family adventures - exploring the outdoors and finding super cool wild animals, bugs and marine life. So along with our parents, we’re sailing the world, exploring islands, and looking for interesting wildlife. We start our adventure sailing New Zealand but dream of sailing around the Mediterranean some day. We love our planet and want to look after our environment, so through our travels we hope other kids will feel inspired to care for our planet and wildlife too. We will take it easy, enjoy the beautiful reefs of the red sea and keep an eye on the corona regulations of the ports we pass. Since many countries are closed we don't know where we will be allowed to go on land again, but we can survive 4 month without seeing anybody :) This journey is only a small part of our trip that started 2 years ago. This video will pretty show you everything there is to know about servicing your Tohatsu / Mercury / Nissan / Yamaha outboard motor. I go through it all from the fuel filter to pulling the leg off and replacing the impeller. I think they are all pretty much all the same from 2hp, 3.5hp, 4hp, 5hp, 6hp 8hp 9.9hp etc... Obviously some models have a built in fuel tank which will look slightly different inside. 0:10 - Replacing motor oil 0:38 - The Carburetor 2:09 - Fuel Filter 2:18 - Gear Oil 2:36 - Anode 2:51 - Propeller 3:11 - Removing the leg & impeller 5:31 - Spark plug Hope this helps anyone out there to browse through, as a quick reference, stop and pause as you go along its all very straight forward, keep in mind I'm no mechanic, just a full time liveaboard on my Beneteau Oceanis 46 sailing around the world. Removing the leg and putting it back on is easier than you think or might read, don't stress to much, just take your time and line up all the poles and take you're time trying to get it all in the right position and check if the gears work before screwing it tight eg fwd, neutral, reverse etc and adjust and wiggle around until you get it all right, then tighten the bolts and bobs your uncle! *** I just realised I forgot to show you the fuel pump, this is very simple also, just unbolt 2 screws. It should be a little square box between the fuel filter and Carby. You can remove this and unscrew to carefully peel back the rubber diaphragm and pull it apart to clean if needed. Since we needed to leave the UK to re-set our Visas, we couldn't think of a better place to escape to than the Canary Islands! With round trip flights at only $130, and a very low cost of living, we knew this Spanish territory would be the perfect place to get away for a few weeks in the middle of winter. Getting ourselves settled on the southern part of the island for our stay, we use our rental car to venture north to the Anaga Rural Park. Filled with the Macizo Mountain Range, this part of the island offers some amazing hikes through laurel forest, and the greenery we were looking for was here in abundance. Since we were just a short drive from the capital of Santa Cruz at this point, after our hike we 'popped in' to attend the opening of their yearly Carnival celebrations. We'd never been to one before and had no idea what to expect...but we were blown away by what we found. We only wish we could have enjoyed it for more than one night!! Enjoy! Much love from Tenerife!
