The Bowline is probably the most useful knot in sailing due to its strength under load and how easy it is to untie after being under load. Uses of a Bowline on a sailing boat could be: Tieing the Halyard to the top of a sail Tieing Jib sheets to the sail Attaching to any fixed point for a control line Tieing the Toe Straps to the Boat And Many others The only downside can be its ease of untieing and is best not used in a situation when it is not under tension. Enjoy the video and stay tuned for more.

Yess we are doing a GIVEAWAY!! Win a full week on board of Messenger for 2 persons. check the details in/under Vlog 25 Today's vlog: We have a Q&A about our background, how we prepared for the trip and what our future plans are. People wanted to know what training we did before we left, if we had sailing experience before, what our final destination is etc. Enjoy! On the 17th of April 2020 we left marina Port Ghalib in Egypt, heading south towards Sudan and Djibouti and finally Maldives. We will take it easy, enjoy the beautiful reefs of the red sea and keep an eye on the corona regulations of the ports we pass. Since many countries are closed we don't know where we will be allowed to go on land again, but we can survive 4 month without seeing anybody :) This journey is only a small part of our trip that started 2 years ago. We got the sailing- skills on our friends yacht 'Shalom' when we joined them on a trip from the Netherlands to Spain. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtDOpi7ydzdcRK1H7fEiQFQ . In Spain we decided to go with our own boat, and in no time we were the happy owners of 'Messenger'. We left may 2018 and started vlogging from the beginning, we made 15 minute video's of our adventures, the nature and the many special people we met. We cooperated with OM to visit their projects and film them on our way. Since 19 of March we started with a daily vlog due to the corona situation. We plan to keep doing this the coming months. Come Join Us in New Smyrna Beach, Florida and join the conversation. A bit of a jump forward we left the Bahamas and made it safely back to the USA. The main reason for coming back here was to deal and rebuild our Yanmar 2GM Diesel engine which stopped working January 26th. With the hurricane season already started with Arthur it's crunch time in the rebuild. So we wanted to update you all and answer any questions you might have. We are still a few months behind being real time with our videos, so this seemed like the best way to update everyone. This video showcases the built-up Al Fatah being launched into the water. In a local village in Sumbawa named Wera, they build this massive boat at a cost of USD 250,000. It can hold up to 800 tons cargo and is one of many boats sailing the Indonesian Archipelago transferring goods from Island to Island. Holding ceremonies before launching a boat, or opening a new home is essential in Indonesian culture to ensure it's purified and bringing good luck on the journey, called Melaspas or Selamatan depending on religion (hindu/muslim). Anthony and I feel so blessed to live in Kauai where we can feel safe with the ocean at our footsteps. We are so blessed Hawaii officials understood the ocean was an essential need for us. Unfortunately - Mother Nature had a different plan. However when she opened her skies and let the sun shine, we were able to get in several dives to reset our spirits and calm our minds as the chaos of Coronavirus swept our globe.
Dear Viewers now i upload second and last episode of tour of the Almaty city.in this video i explored top attractions of Almaty. First President's Park :Creation of the park began in 2001. The first were broken main elements of the park - the avenue, boulevard, dendrological areas. greenery were planted according to dendrological plan. In honor of the participation of the city of Almaty in the Olympic torch relay of the Beijing Olympic Games, about a hundred spruces and birches were planted. In 2011, a hundred Tien-Shan spruces were also planted. An oak was planted personally by the Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev in 2001. Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen is located in east-central Almaty in the area surrounding the Zenkov Cathedral. It is dedicated to and named after the Panfilov heroes which were the 28 soldiers of an Almaty infantry unit who died while defending Moscow from the German invasion during theGreat Patriotic War. The group took its name from Ivan Panfilov, the General commanding the 316th division which, in spite of heavy casualties, believed at that time managed to significantly delay the Germans advance to Moscow, thus buying the time for the defenders of the city. An eternal flame commemorating the fallen of the World War II and the Great Patriotic War burns in front of the giant black monument of soldiers from all 15 Soviet republics. Almaty Central Mosque is one of the largest mosques in Almaty, and in Kazakhstan. Designed for 7000 worshippers, it was built on the site of the old mosque that dated to 1890 and caught fire in 1987. The foundation of the mosque was laid in 1993.Construction was completed in 1999.In 2000, the large dome was decorated by verses from the Quran rendered by Turkish calligraphers. Central Park, also known as Gorky Park, is an urban park located in the Medeusky district of Almaty. It was founded in 1856, and was originally called The State Garden. The park includes differente tree types such as elm, oak, aspen, maple, pine, spruce, poplar, and birch; artificial water reservoirs, attractions such as a water park, Rodina cinema, sports complex, cultural venues, and public catering establishments. There are also children's attractions, which include a children's railway, an aqua park and other entertainment venues. #palaceofpeace #monomentofkazakh #hazratsultanmasjid #kazakhstanvisit #kazakhfood For contact: R.K Global Elahi Center, Jinnah Park, Sheikhupura rkglobal.pk@gmail.com Thailand, Phillipine, Malaysia, Indonesia Trip (𝟬6 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀): ▶️ Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list... At Home Kid's Activity: Increase in CO2 Causes Acidic Oceans | Sailors for the Sea Powered by Oceana
Increased atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) can cause changes in the chemistry of the ocean. The ocean absorbs about a quarter of the CO2 humans release into the atmosphere every year, and this additional CO2 in seawater is causing the ocean to become more acidic. In this fun, at home science activity, kids can use their own exhaled breath and a red cabbage pH indicator to see how our oceans are becoming more acidic. This #openfika is about “IoT in Japan” – the birthplace of the smartphone, Lean production, emojis and the Tamagotchi. Our CEO, Jon Lindén, invites Hitomi Yatsu from Ekkono’s partner Ubiquitous AI Corporation to talk about what’s happening in one of the world’s most innovative, automated and fascinating countries. Ekkono’s customers are product OEMs, in all industries, but with emphasis on industrial equipment and automotive. Just like Sweden, Japan is the home of an unproportionate high number of globally renowned corporations in these spaces. This is why Ekkono, while still a young company, partnered with Ubiquitous AI Corp, an embedded software specialist in Japan, already last year to enter the Japanese market. So, what’s big in Japan? Is Japan ahead or behind Europe and rest of the world on IoT? How is demographics impacting the adoption and the urgency for new technology? Are there political aspects that impact the technological evolution? What industries set the example? What does the future look like? Watch this vidoe to find out!

MIndelo has survived and endured more than many cities in it's hits rich history. Discovered by the Portuguese, then ignored because of its barren landscape. Yet it had a safe natural port strategically located in the middle of the Atlantic. Pirates had been hiding there, but it was not settled. Eventually the Portuguese began a settlement. One that was celebrated and ridiculed. This kind of back and forth continued for centuries. And the people living there developed a different way of thinking out of pure survival. They became anarchist and in a way pirates. Living for today, because tomorrow may be worse. That is why Mindeleses are the most free society in Cape Verde. And that is why the historic endurance of Mindelo prevails even now during the global pandemic. The people here have seen worse and will prevail. Like us sailors who also live in the moment, this pandemic is just another obstacle to hurdle. And we will. #mindelohistory #capeverde #endurance Some say it’s The Best Sailing Channel on YouTube! After arriving back to Elements after being away, it was time to begin thinking more seriously about a catamaran in our future. And not something off a production line, but something a little more on the performance end and tailored to our needs. While there are unfortunately not any Grainger, Schionning, or Oram boats nearby for us to look at, we had the next best thing...Dazcat Multihull Center! Our friends come sailing with us and we get to show them what its like to live aboard a sailboat and sail from island to island in the remote island chain of the San Blas Panama. Often the more difficult the journey to get to the boat in these very remote places are easily rewarded with its pristine beauty. As it was for our friends, Marily and Chad the task was hefty but once on the boat we got to explore uninhabited islands, pristine anchorages, amazing palm tree lines beaches, and water so clear you can see for miles! We take them snorkeling where we see an ocean just teeming with life, and even get two amazing dolphin visits. Thank you for watching the Adventures of WE!
In this video, we tackle some boat projects and begin to discover our new backyard.

He's the one they call “Paddles.” The nickname was all but inevitable for U.S. Olympic kayaker-turned-grinder Tim Hornsby (Atlanta, Ga.), one of the elite athletes recruited from a broad range of sporting backgrounds to help power New York Yacht Club American Magic around America’s Cup racecourses. Hornsby represented the United States in the 200m Canoe Sprint kayaking event at the London 2012 Games, and narrowly missed selection for both Beijing 2008 and Rio 2016. Training for years to achieve an optimal balance of power, weight, endurance and speed, sprint kayaking athletes are ideally suited for boosting Cup contenders. © American Magic © New York Yacht Club Produced by Vague Pictures.
