Then came the Covid 19 / Coronavirus pandemic and suddenly those prepper families didn't seem so crazy, and we wondered what WE would do if there was to be a second lockdown and we find ourselves stuck at sea or at anchor with no access to land. In this video we describe how we use solar energy and and inverter to provide power to cook and keep our fridge and freezer going. We take you on one of our big shopping trips and show how we pack it all into our boat. But, lucky us, we found a little pipsqueak in need to distract us from our woes.  Because we’re not alone, the whole world is suffering in various ways. Here in Fiji, the coronavirus has affected the #animals as much as humans.  Animal shelters have closed their doors due to lockdowns, lack of funding, and canceled fundraising events. Which puts thousands of animals in need with nowhere to go. So, with the discovery of our feline friend Pip and the lovely people at Animals Fiji we decided to rally our crew.  Because while we all may be a little stuck right now, it doesn’t mean we can’t be helpful. Pip volunteered to be the mascot and together we (you included) managed to do something amazing. WHO ARE WE? We’re Jason and Nikki Wynn. We been living OffTheGrid and exploring the world for almost a decade. Our first six years of #travel were an epic road trip around North America. Now we’re on a #sailing voyage about the world. We spent a few days in Georgetown, checking all of the fluids and filters, nav controls and instruments, helm and autohelm, electrical systems and the new anchor chain. The first leg was from our mooring at Sassafras Harbor marina near Galena on the Sassafras River, to the Magothy River on the far side of the Chesapeake Bay It was rainy and windy when when we ran the 25 miles or so from the Georgetown Yacht basin to Magothy River Sanctuary, where we anchored in a little shelter near the Fairview Marina. We would need to go ashore briefly to pick up watermaker filters from a local hardware store, and we still needed to work on the dinghy motor since it still wasn't running well. I made the run to Ace Hardware to pick up the filters. It was my first ever UBER run! It was also the only time I had to use my own GPS to get the driver back to the marina so with Lisa holding down the fort at home, Captain Mark, Bernard, Brian and I continued down the Chesapeake Bay. Headed south to the open ocean. Brian and I were given our helm and chartplotter lessons. The 11th edition of the RORC Time Over Distance Series will be with the Harold Cudmore who hails from Cork, Ireland. In the 1970s Cudmore was one of the first sailors to travel the world to compete at international yachting events, especially match racing. In 1986, Harold became the first non-American to win the Congressional Cup. In the America's Cup Cudmore was heavily involved in several British campaigns during the 1980s and was the head coach of the 1992 winning campaign America3 and coach for the all-women's campaign in 1995. Between 1977 and 1993, Harold Cudmore took part in seven editions of the Admiral’s Cup. Racing for Ireland, Great Britain, Australia, and Germany. In 1989, Harold Cudmore was the mastermind ashore for the victorious British team. To this day, Harold travels the world racing in a wide variety of inshore and offshore events. His amazing abilities as a yachtsman are only matched by his talent for storytelling! #TimeOverDistance
