Vlog# 9 Sailing the Northern Californian Coast from Crescent City to Trinidad Harbour. We sailed into port and anchored in the dark, coming in at night is definitely not our favourite thing to do in ports we have never been to before. Everything went fine in the end, but if you can avoid it, I definitely would! When we woke up in the morning they had moved a barge in right beside us. This made us a little uncomfortable, but obviously not too much as we didn't take the effort to move and anchor. We went into town to stretch the old legs and get some supplies. Wow deals happened and Jessica finally got some veggie hotdogs and was extremely happy about it. We left Crescent City with our next destination being Trinidad Harbour. We had some amazing visitors stop by for quite awhile, DOLPHINS. Love watching them jump around us and follow along for hours. We made it in and dropped the hook before dark. The next day we explored the town. We had to walk with diesel cans sooooo far as there is no fuel dock here. These two have been stuck on their boat more than two months. They started in Spain just when the pandemic struck, then sailed directly down to Cape Verde. It took them 17 days, and 14 more of quarantine in Mindelo Bay. It was a return trip for one of them, Peter. He was in Mindelo several months ago, and we became great friends. We also meet Lily, my dear friend, and her quest to become somebody. And as friends go, we cannot forget Jodie, who knows how to overcome the color barrier by simply dancing. As well we are accompanied by another friend, Lucious. He takes us to a special event which brings the city back to life. We are in Africa, where life matters. People matter. Friends matter. Most people here are of African descent. Except for me, Jodie, Peter, Ayrton and a few others on the whiter shade of pale. We get the chance to go out sailing on a Dazcat 995, and find ourselves racing a Dazcat 1195 as soon as we're out on Plymouth Sound! After one of our viewers had seen us take a tour of the Multihull Center, with his boat featured in the background!, he jumped on the chance to invite us aboard since the boat had recently been launched. Julian is partial owner of Easy Tiger, and with England having some brilliant weather at the moment, he invited us out for a day sail. Knowing that we're interested in building our own performance catamaran, he thought it would be a great idea for us to take a test sail on one, to see what we liked about them, or areas that may need improvement. Out on the water we were blown away at how well it performed, and it has made us even more excited to begin construction on our own. And as if a day out on the water wasn't exciting enough on its own, we even had the chance to race another Dazcat out to the breakwater in the Plymouth Sound, as it happened to pull out just behind us as we entered open waters.
