Are you ready for some spear fishing, catch and cook action from the largest swimming pool on earth?!? We wake up to find Delos anchored in perfect calm conditions and decide to take our dinghy Maggie around to the normally rough and windy side of the island to go food shopping for the week. This is our version of the supermarket, but WAY WAY more fun! Within a few hours of spear fishing I have enough lobster, conch, and fish for our little family to last for days. We proceed to go on a sea food eating extravaganza dreaming up delicious catch and cook recipes that delight our taste buds. It's not all fun and games though as in the middle of the night a sudden wind shift puts Delos on a lee shore and we find our selves bashing the keel against the bottom. A middle of the night move your house drill is required to get us back to deeper water and safety! Sending much love to everyone out there. It's a rush job, but Spencer and our friend Brad start at 9pm and 7 hours later, at 4am, the rear main seal is replaced in our Perkins 4108. It took a lot! Removing the engine, shifting the prop so water is pouring in and getting the transmission out. It's a BIG job and they slay it. After being thrown out of a safe harbour we search for an isolated anchorage where we can stop and rest. Living off the grid in isolation isn't easy though, thunderstorms in the night banish sleep and a crocodile comes knocking on the hull. Filmed in March 2020. We are a British couple who set off from England in 2016 to fulfill our dream of sailing around the world on our 37ft sail boat, Florence. Along the way we share the live aboard lifestyle with the highs and lows of travelling around the world by boat, our own little tiny house. Boat life out at sea on the ocean. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V770 with a Rode External mic. My old camera is now my number 2 is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. Hello Friends, This is a special episode where I talk about a last minute Yacht Delivery I was hired to crew on one week ago today. I explain what happened with the boat, what my concerns were with taking the boat to sea and the ins/outs of yacht deliveries. We had intended on driving the 38ft wooden fishing boat from Westport, Washington to the San Francisco Bay. Our plans were doom from the beginning... While sailing we have been caught out by the VIRUS and cannot enter any country. We have to somehow make do until the world becomes normal again. So we set sail for a reef in the middle of nowhere, 272 nautical miles off the coast of Nicaragua. We have no sailing guide so we rely on dodgy charts to get close but as usual the charts are out by a mile or 2. We get in with very little sunlight left with no one around but not known to us then there are 2 surprises for us. Give it a thumbs up if you liked this episode! Want more? Our mast is coming down! There are repairs that need to be done from when the race boat fell on us a while back and taking down the mast to do those repairs on the ground is going to be the easiest and safest way. It is also nice because there are a lot of lightning storms here during the summer months and we DO NOT want to get struck! Plus the mast coming down makes it easier for us to tent our boat! With the rainy season in full swing down here we need a way to stay dry while paint and prep things for work inside the boat down below. BAHAMAS LOCKDOWN! Setting SAIL for the USVI with NO PLACE LEFT TO GO!! This week, as the lockdown in the Bahamas becomes downright oppressive - virtually unable to leave the boat for any amount of time - we decide the time is eventually coming when all foreigners will be kicked out Bahamian waters. With nowhere else to go we decide to try Puerto Rico...only to find out at the last second that they too aren't welcoming any sailors - EVEN US CITIZENS! So with no options left, we head to St. Thomas, USVI after receiving word from cruiser friends already there that we should be able to check in. With fingers crossed we embark on a 700 mile ocean sail to Charlotte Amalie hoping that nothing changes while we're en route and out of touch with civilization. Enjoy!! A huge thank you to those who help keep our boat afloat by supporting our creative process via Patreon. You can be part of the crew for less than the price of a coffee. https://www.patreon.com/CruisingKiwis Sailing with Sailing Zatara. We meet YouTube’s biggest sailing family channel, ‘@SailingZatara ’. Sailing across the path of Sailing Zatara With teenage children and similar interests, the two families were able to bond, within minutes we were sharing gifts, booking dinner dates, hanging out at the beach, kite surfing, wakeboarding, arm wrestling, free diving and of course doing the noni challenge. And while all that was going on love was quietly blossoming between our very own expendable middle child, Declan and the lovely young Paris. Music Gideon Irving – Blueberry pie – www.mynameisgideon. In 1997, after a disastrous Olympic rowing campaign, Rob decided to row a seven-metre plywood boat, 2500 miles from Tenerife in the Canary Islands to Barbados in the Caribbean. It took 6 weeks and he and his rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, won the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. Skip forward to 2014, we invested in Javelot a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Robert's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, we set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know our boat before heading offshore with our three children, Finn 17, Declan 15 and Ivan 12, in tow. Through trial and error, we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. Our plan? To sail around the world, meet the locals and record our adventures. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we will re trace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Kerry and two friends were attacked by a Khmer Rouge gun boat, captured, tortured and executed. ***** Follow us in real time on Instagram @thecruisingkiwis @finn_hamill @declan_hamill Never stop wandering, never stop wondering. #TheCruisingKiwis

We sailed our catamaran to South Africa from Mozambique. Durban was overwhelming – friendliest people, concrete skyscrapers, tasty food (a lot of tasty food!), wildlife and a yachtie paradise. After 3 years we were able to stock up with essential things for the boat - dyneema lines, lots of spareparts, even a very light washing machine for our lite catamaran, reparing sails and so on. After 3 months in absolutely welcoming Durban with tears in eyes we left our new friends and set sails to East London. The run from Durban to East London on oue catamaran wasn’t pleasant. I was creepy worried to sail this time, knowing the forecast. I knew, that behind the breakwater, there are white caps with green water by the background light. And then a deep and blue abyss. Whistling and Howling. And it was. Beating against the swell from outgoing south-west storm. Up and down, up and down... many hours. And the body does not relax for a minute... Then the northeast wind picked up and up. Really BIG WAVES. After 38 hours at sea we arrived to East London and achored in the calm and good protected waters of Buffalo river, waiting for the next weather window. The most dangerous part of the Wild Coast done. Now we can exhale and relax. Even hearing the howling of the Southwest storm which came from the roaring forties. And again a waiting game. Waiting and monitoring the weather information from Des Cason, hoping for northerly and then easterly winds. The reason for such fanatical care is the Agulhas current, one of the world’s great ocean currents. It brings warm water down south from tropical Africa and it runs at speeds of up to 6 knots, where it flows over the 200-meter contour. The real danger begins when the wind blows from southwest and it blows against the current, creating high, steep, breaking waves. 10 meters waves are common, and giants run over 20 meters. Finally we got a 48-hours weather window and went out half an hour before dawn, I reported on the radio Port Control East London, Port Control East London, this is Sailing catamaran Umadum, we’re leaving East London. Uniform, Mike, Alfa, Delta, Uniform, Mike. This passage is tedious... we had only 48 hours to reach Mossel Bay, the next port, until a new south-west storm arrives. And on this leg the wind was playing with us – wind, - no wind. We must move with an average speed around 7 knots not to be caught by the next southerly storm. So this leg we did a lot of motor-sailing, even if we hate it. And we dived into this swell, knocked on it and swayed from side to side and from bow to stern... I even got a long-forgotten seasickness for several hours. Finally - Mossel Bay, an internationally renowned the Great White Shark watching spot. Sure, we went for a cage diving with the White Shark Africa team and with Craig Ferreira we made a film. Then again – waiting for the next weather window. Sailing aroung Agulhas cape. Bye-bye Indian Ocean. Hi to the Atlantic! And with the first light arrival to Simonstown in False Bay. Here we felt like we’re at the end of the world. The cries of seagulls, the ringing of bells and the smell of eucalyptus. It’s the border between The Roaring 40’s and The Cape of a Good Hope. And the clouds are crawling down from the Table Mountain and going down to the Antarctica. Like the whales. The wild life around the Cape is fantastic – seals, sharks, birds, dolphins, penguins, but it’s time to leave for the last South African port – Cape Town. We rounded the Cape of Good Hope, e.g. Cape of storms with nearly no wind and dived into the cultural life of Cape Town. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjQbQAT3qqk&t=70s Love, Peace and Ocean Breeze Tali and Guenther Follow us for more travel stories and live your dream: https://youtube.com/UmadumSailing More Blue Water Cruising on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/umadumsailing/ Umadum shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/UmadumArt Music in the film: Pucker Up, Into the Depths, Merry Go - Silent Film Light Road to Moscow by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://incompetech.com/music/ royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1100737 Artist: http://incompetech.com/ Running Waters Full Band by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution licence (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Artist: http://audionautix.com/ File A by KZ_Production Epic Technology by PeacockMusic Artist: http://audiojungle.net/user/peacockmusic © Umadum Sailing 2020

I had almost everything in my life that I thought I wanted. On the outside everything was awesome. Yet something was missing.... This is a personal story about a challenge that I believe many people are faced with in the world today. Some choose to keep their struggle with these challenges private, and that's ok. I've decided to share this because I believe this is a topic that needs to be talked about and this video is a message that needs to be shared. I believe when we choose to share our truth with the world we help others grow and we ourselves grow. We don't have to face life alone. If you're ready to make a change in your life this is an invitation to reach out. I've been there and I'm here to help. As Charlie Brown says, "Asking for help isn't weak, it's a great example of how to take care of yourself". Subscribe HERE https://bit.ly/2HPyDWB and let's explore and grow together ************************************************* For those of you who don't know me, my name is Chris. Four years ago I was running a financial sales business in Vancouver, Canda when I realized I was living someone else's life, going after someone else's dreams, and was absolutely miserable. So I sold the business, radically changed my life, and have never looked back. I've spent the last 3.5 years traveling the world on a sailboat with my young family where we've been fortunate to be able to go on adventures to remote places and connect with people from cultures far different from my own. This is the place I get to share those stories. This channel is about providing you with a lens into parts of the world, people, and histories that are not often seen or heard. There are many ways to live life on this planet and I've been fortunate to experience a few radically different ones. My hope is that by watching my videos you learn something about the outside world, or about yourself that challenges your perspective and perhaps shifts it in a way that brings maybe just a little more peace and happiness to your life. Much love to you all. SUBSCRIBE HERE: https://bit.ly/2HPyDWB CLICK THE BELL to know when new Videos are up!

Leaving Bali and Indonesia behind we started our crossing from Bali to Port Suez. The trip supposed to take around 30 days, but Indian Ocean had hidden surprises for us. The crossing took us 47 days due to low winds (quite surprising for Indian Ocean we never had more than 18 knots of wind) and we decided to make a pit stop in Swawakin, Sudan to re-stock fresh provisions before we continue our trip to Port Suez . In Swawakin we were anchored right in front of the ancient city and we would sleep and wake up with the incredibility in our faces... in front of our eyes there were the ruins of what used to be a thriving city that civil war had brought down to ruins. People leaving in bad conditions but even in that state they were happy kind and more companionate than people we usually meet in big cities. We asked a local where was the open market and he offered to take us there by his car...when we arrived there he offered to wait for us and take us back to the anchorage, without anything in exchange. When we visited the open market there was another surprise, the people body language was similar to Greeks!! We didn't speak the same language but we understood each other because we had the same body language. It made me feel like home and making new friends. We spent 4 great days in Swawakin before we sail to Suez and cross the Suez Canal . No war can destroy a genuinely good 💓. It can feel lonely, left out & down right depressing just going through our daily routines & catching any spare time the kids would have for us. Well, we decided to do something about that, we set off on a journey around Australia in our RV until karma had other plans. Our lives took a different direction after this, which allowed us to grab a lifetime dream that we didn’t think was ever possible but in reality, it was.
